  • Yup...as of 2024, I still own this bike. Going on 20+ years now. This video, which was filmed on a Sony Camcorder!.... was quite literally the FIRST ride after complete rebuild/restoration... so no, I didn't bring it to redline (which is 8500-ish for a STREET H2, or wring its' ever=living neck.... Just a quick rip around the block to heat cycle. Still sounded pretty cool though, didn't it? :)

This sound really brings back memories...when it was fairly common in my town in the 70es while fading, down the street, leaving a blue smokey stream...
The most exciting bike by then:performance, sound, look were outstanding.
    A true legend:good job kh !

Nothing like an old, classic 2-stroke 'SCREAMER'! Even the lower displacement 2-strokes were a total blast to ride! The power and acceleration was instant and raw! The pure essence of motorcycling for many 'old school' enthusiasts.

wow, that sounds exactly like my 750 did, I had the denco chambers, used to have to refiberglass them every once in a while. That was the most unpredictably awesome bike I ever owned, all the crotch rockets I had after it just didn't have the same adrenaline rush.

I had a 72 polished ported dencos. Our high school was a big square brick building, looked like a jail. The motorcycles parking was on the sidewalk up against the gymnasium. Parking one morning, the hot gym teacher comes out the side door, " HOW DO YOU THINK I CAN TEACH MY CLASS WITH ALL THAT RACKET.". That was one of my fondest memories from those days. They were an antisocial asset. Nice bike must be a handful if it cranks out 100 hp.

I've got a 72 H2 750 triple I bought new and modified in 1975 (or so) using the Denco Cobra specs and parts. No power below 4,000 rpm but when it comes on the pipe at 6,000 rpm she explodes and holds it right through 11,000 rpm. Nothing matches that sound and vibration. First gear is a blur and almost useless because you can't keep the front end down. And i weigh 240 lbs.

      I agree. I had a 1981 Yamaha 550 Seca. (Bought it new)and after 6 months or so,
I put a Kerker 4 into 1 on it. (A few other accessories too) and in my opinion,
there is NO sound like a small displacement DOHC 2 valve four turning 10,000 rpm. MUSIC to my ears.
If I ever hit the lottery, will find one again and restore it back to the way I had it.
I also think that my Seca had the MOST beautiful wheels ever fitted to a bike from any factory.
But you are right. Most all motorcycles have a sound that is sweet.
But to the ear of the beholder.
Remember the Honda CBX? It was said they sent their engineers to Air Force Bases to record the sound of fighters (I think in particular the F-4 Phantom) during take of to try to replicate that sound to the CBX.

My dad had a 1972 H2 with Dencos, back in the early 80s. You could hear the thing coming from a mile away.

It has the F1 vibe sounds in higher RPM, hard to not like it. And in beautiful shape too.

Had an ‘76 RD 400c myself... not as fast as that rocket, but I could hold my own up to the Kawasaki 900. 750’s were tough, but I usually got them. Before the RD, I rode a ‘72 350 Triple Kawasaki, took out the baffling in the mufflers and enjoyed that music for the summer, till I got the RD. Have always been a “Rice burner” guy.
