Good to see commonly requested features being installed!
The voltages look ok for todays lithium. Some people will suggest 14.5v is a bit high (it’s ok though).
    Some questions to clarify operation…
    1) Does the Solar Priority mode automatically stop after a period of time or because of some event (such as no solar available, vehicle starting or stopping, anything else)?
    2) Does Solar Priority mode operate in conjunction with Alternator input, or does only one input operate at a time? (the manual doesn’t make this clear). e.g If solar can charge at 5A, does it then take 35A from the alternator, or does it neglect the alternator completely? And vice versa? I expect they operate exclusively, meaning only one at a time.
    3) Is it IP rated to any standard? No mention of if it’s ok for engine bay mounting, Ute tub (possible rain getting to it) or other places like that.
32v solar is ok, but if you can revise the design to accept 40v this will make it much more attractive to people using bigger "house" style PV that can operate at 36v or a little more.
And the mention of the load on the engine is misinformed. These will drain about 600w maximum, and engines will produce between 50,000 - 200,000w. So the load on the engine is negligible and one could realistically say it cost them extra fuel. Other driving factors play a much bigger part in engine load and fuel consumption. Good marketing, but incorrect 😉
I wish I had a need for this because it'd be good to purchase for a full test, but without that need it's not quite in scope.

With regards to the ultra slim battery. They dont have any battery terminals so what does the temperature sensor from the dcdc charger connect too? Is it required?

Hey Craig how do you reccomend installing the 40A DC-DC on top of the Kickass Jaxbox x1 Powerstation?

    • @KickAssProducts
      @KickAssProducts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

G'day Doug, there is a few ways you could do it,the easy way would be to make up some anderson connecter tails with ring terminals & connect the charger to the connecters & would all be plug in then
you could then mount the dcdc with screws & nyloc nuts
      Thanks for watching
      Cheers

@@KickAssProductsWhen I saw your stylish hair, I thought “oh no, they’re Australian, aren’t they?”
I’m stuck in the US, sadly.
I’m wondering, if I have, say, a 12v to 24v DC/DC converter, can I safely stick that into the input of an MPPT solar controller? What about a PWM one?
My amateur EE feelings tell me that MPPT is safe and PWM isn’t. I only need 10A or so since my Honda Element doesn’t have a whole lot of spare alternator capacity.
(My next crazy idea for a bigger vehicle is to use a second alternator and replace the regulator with a ~20v (estimated) input so that the second alternator produces >60v, and feed that into a 48v MPPT charge controller…)
