@thomaswunsch4037 I loved the jazz music from the 80's and 90s. I will listen to it the rest of my life as it makes life sweeter and more tolerable like an anesthetic :)
I was site manager of an outdoor venue near St. Louis when Al came there for a show in 1979. Our secretary was in the office with staff coming and going. She was a huge fan of his (as are many, myself included) but she couldn't get away to go watch even one song. After the show I explained how much he meant to her and how her lyrics inspired her. I told him she could not come down and asked if he would go visit her. He rode with me on the golf cart 1/2 a mile to the office. Signed a picture which I took in and handed her and she was so thrilled and in tears. Then he knocked on the door and came in. She lost it. He said hello, shook her had, kissed her cheek as he was leaving and even sang a couple of verses to her. That is the kind of man Al Jarreau was. Renita Fowler, I hope you are still with us and well.
One of my favorite mellow music videos from the Eighties. The story of a man whose sweetheart just told him she loves him. And, so, he's walking through the world like it's a vintage Disney flick. He even gets to quote part of the Air Force pilots' prayer (about touching the face of God)!
In the late 80's, my father use to play this every single morning for me while he drove me to school. Then we listened to a mixture of Al Jarreau and Anita Baker. I was infatuated with their voices and their scatting talents. God, I wish Black music with a soul and positivity still existed today. But I'll always have the 80's
I´m sorry to say that not only the black music suffers with the lack of soul and positivity. Wouldn´t be better call it just "music" instead of put it into boxes?

One of my favorite songs. Fell in love with it the first time I heard it. Just beautiful, positive, uplifting lyrics and melody. All is well with the world. I used to play this as part of my early morning routine standing on the deck or the picture window, overlooking a quiet lake listening to the sounds of the the lake and forest around me and breathing deeply all that fresh morning pine-scented air. I would make camp pot percolated coffee from the clean lake water. Nothing like it when you are sipping this and listening to this song. That's the way your day starts out right. There still is. Tons of it, actually. But... Nobody promotes any of it. You'd need to really search for it, and it can be difficult if not impossible without knowing what you're searching for. Without knowing the actual names, song titles etc. There aren't any record companies or promoters around interested in discovering new local Artists, who have tremendous talents, but lack any connections to break into the so called "mainstream". It's all either word of mouth, or individual internet-based self-promotion, which is also tricky. And if you live in a small place, no matter how talented you are, and how much you can offer, nobody is gonna to know about your existence (apart from some local audiences who pack your live shows).

Love this song right here. Philippians 4:8 Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise, dwell on these things.
I like the old, antiquated, King James Version that simply says, 'Think on these things' we offer use to many different versions when the old, obsolete King James Version simply makes it plain and simple to ALL. 'THINK, on these things.'

There are many singers, but only a fraction of them use their voices as musical instruments, and only a fraction of those achieve the level of virtuoso - and Mr. Jarreau was in that latter fraction. He proved with this track that he was the preeminent voice of modern pop jazz in the 1980s. I was in high school when this track was released as a single; I'd heard other jazz tracks beforehand, but I didn't really have a clue about jazz as a musical genre until I heard this track.
The thing I love most about this video is how he walks over the horizon at the end. He's still singing, the song never really ends, it just moved on to another place ( ':

@Will Rich Al Jarreau was celebrated . However their was a time in the music industry when his music was not appreciated by industry people and didn't promote his music here in the U. S. He was always celebrated & appreciated all over other parts of the world. If you know anything about music industry in the U.S. Then you know how fickle it is it's all about what they think sells&Labels & Marketing. Al Jarreau maintained his following of fans. The music industry tried to put him in a box here. That's what's I meant by underrated I was speaking from an industry perspective! Hope that clarifies it for you. Peace!
There will never be another singer like The Early Mr. Al Jareau.😢 surely missed but his music a life time of Great Songs.Thankyou GOD FOR SUCH A ONE.GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY.
I miss kind of music, I wish I was born in that old school time of music, cause this kind of music just makes feel happy to be alive, no cursing or any of that nonsense, just a man talking about the morning.
Little did I know when I first heard this song back in 1983, how much love and respect I wound have for it, and even more so, Mr. Al Jarreau. My eyes still tear up when I hear it. Thank you sir for all your gifts to us.
My first introduction to Mr. Al Jarreau was in the early 80's. I had to be about 9 or 10 years old. First it was We're In This Love Together, then it was the video for Mornin' and I instantly fell in love with his music. I'm blessed to have been able to see him perform live. What an Awesome Show!!! Thank you for "Gracing" the World with your Musical Talent!!! Your music will forever live on!!!! My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Jarreau. I salute you sir and wish you a Peaceful Journey.
At every weekend campus dance in the early '80 at WV Wesleyan College, when they played Jarreau; it was so easy to fall in love with your dance partner. A toast to wonderful women and beautiful music.
How wonderful! I have been listening to this wonderful song so many times since it was issued in 1983. Thanks to the fantastic Al Jarreau, to David Foster and Jay Graydon, great composers, arrangers and musicians of our times. The eyes of us all fill with tears every time we listen to this song because of the beauty of its music, lyrics, and the performance of one of the best modern singers and an amazing man like Al Jarreau. Philippians 4:8
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise, dwell on these things.
Música inesquecível pra mim .
Wow, that makes me feel good to hear that.
Amen. We live in a cruel world, but appreciate the good things that you do have.
You silly savage.
I like the old, antiquated, King James Version that simply says, 'Think on these things' we offer use to many different versions when the old, obsolete King James Version simply makes it plain and simple to ALL.
'THINK, on these things.'
This beautiful song will NEVER go out of style! 🌹❤️❤️☺️
NEVER 😃😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍

As a kid I would close my eyes when I hear this song and just imagine floating on a cloud without a care in the world. I still do it.
Just listened to this to start my day off, but ended up fighting tears instead. May your soul be at peace, Al. Thank you for a lifetime of positivity 💖🥰✝️
On drums we hear the wonderful Jeff Porcaro, who passed away 1992. May he rest in peace. ❤
Had no clue abt that !! I loved the drum work here...lotta nice fills...2 in particular towards the end...and now I know y !!! 👍
You mean THE Jeff Porcaro of Rosanna Shuffle fame? 😯
@@NuGanjaTron yup
Yes. Jeff Porcaro, of the legendary band, TOTO.❤

I love this song. It gets me nostalgic for old times, when life was carefree, simple and free!!
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Unlike today life is flatout crazy dangerous and scary.
@@careyedwardsjr4988 Only going to get worse. Hyperinflation, food shortages, "by 2030 you'll own nothing and you'll be happy" - Klaus Schwab
this song kind of puts things in perspective, despite all the clamor and hardship, life is really a very special and privileged experience.
Thanks Dave
I agree with you.
Brother David - you have spoken truth and volumes with few words. Again, much thanks for wisdom.
True very true
Dave L I know it places you in such a, happy positive mindset!!!!!!!!!!
This and the theme song to Moonlight are my favorites. Prayers for Bruce Willis and RIP Al Jarreau! ❤
Hard to believe this melodious tune entered the musical scene 4 decades ago! It still has appeal!
Al Jarreau was very underrated. I watched his TV One Unsung story. He was a balladeer, musician, &human B Box.
Me too
Me too
I have his story on my DVR List
@Will Rich Al Jarreau was celebrated . However their was a time in the music industry when his music was not appreciated by industry people and didn't promote his music here in the U. S. He was always celebrated & appreciated all over other parts of the world. If you know anything about music industry in the U.S. Then you know how fickle it is it's all about what they think sells&Labels & Marketing. Al Jarreau maintained his following of fans. The music industry tried to put him in a box here. That's what's I meant by underrated I was speaking from an industry perspective! Hope that clarifies it for you. Peace!
Oh yes he was underrated, they weren’t ready for him. They didn’t know where he fit in.
*Thank you Mornin' for introducing me to this amazing singer, what a great voice*
I thank God He woke me up this Mornin'!
There will never be another singer like The Early Mr. Al Jareau.😢 surely missed but his music a life time of Great Songs.Thankyou GOD FOR SUCH A ONE.GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY.

I can't even watch the end of roof garden now because it tears me up inside when he fades away. R.I.P AL Jarreau.
marva connor he was great I will agree with you but it has nothing to do with God open your fuckin eyes people read the bible
Noah Partic open your fuckin eyes how can you be so stupid not me I don't believe there is a God you all are crazy
This song is like laying your head on a soft pillow for a midday nap on a rainy day…
I miss kind of music, I wish I was born in that old school time of music, cause this kind of music just makes feel happy to be alive, no cursing or any of that nonsense, just a man talking about the morning.
Brandon M It was the early 80's. Not exactly "old school".
The early 80s was over 30 years ago. Safe to say its "old school" the younger generation, unfortunately.
Such innocence. Simplicity, and purely heart fulfilling.
Little did I know when I first heard this song back in 1983, how much love and respect I wound have for it, and even more so, Mr. Al Jarreau.
My eyes still tear up when I hear it. Thank you sir for all your gifts to us.
The 80s were the best decade in music. beautiful songs that touch the heart
This song just makes you feel so happy. Thank you Al Jarreau for making this great song.
actually, it's david foster creation :)
Jay Graydon and David Foster. Don't leave out Graydon...think of it like Lennon-McCartney partnership.
But Al did pen the lyrics. :)
Every day above ground is a blessing!
2:34 touch the face of God..... and now that's a beautiful treasure in the eternity for our dear Mr Jarreau, RIP, Thanks for this jewel....
This was my JAM when I was a little kid. Then I saw the video and lost my mind!!!
+freegratuits That has to be the best comment I've ever seen for a YT video. Love it!
+Patrick Rogers you are right about that when you see this guy in real life it makes you smile and i really love his song especially when i am a kid

2:07 singing from the clouds now! ;)
At every weekend campus dance in the early '80 at WV Wesleyan College, when they played Jarreau; it was so easy to fall in love with your dance partner. A toast to wonderful women and beautiful music.
this guy can't die !!!
Has to be one of the greatest feel good songs ever .
His hands have probably reached the face of God by now.
Rest in Peace and sing for your brothers angels Al.
Goodbye to one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
well-said, andrew!
I didn't appreciate this song when I was a ten-year-old during the time of it's release. But, I'm glad God allowed me to grow over the years and love it!❤
SAME HERE! I was 13 at the time.
@@barneybrown2092 because the 60s, 70s and 80s was full of good music....not 💩💩💩💩by drug addicted men/women-children who revel in socially destructive behavior. and get biopics made about them
that synth solo and key change! wonderful songwriting here.
The subliminal magic of Jeff Porcaro... 3:45 two subtle hi-hat barks into the chord change and outro.
