But when Nicole recorded all álbum solo, Kaya left the group weeks before "Dont Cha" and Melody and Carmit were pressured to stay on as dancers and backing vocalists by the contract.
If they let Melody sing like that more often, everyone would win, she would feel more accomplished, it would add more to the group and make it stand out more as a singing group, and Nicole would still be able to stand out for her overall talent which is undeniable too

LOUI J if one messes up, the whole thing is off. Nicole wouldn’t have asked to turn off the mic or anyone else in the group. Mic’s always have issues. Some microphones have to be plugged in after the machine is on, and not when it’s already plugged in. It’s not a universal issue but it’s common.

During the performance their mics get switched and handed to each other, melody her adlibs had to start at 2:08 as you can see her going to the front for a split second and her mic isn't on. Nicole muted it before handing it to her. Melody did what she had to do at 2:27 when kimberly handed her microphone that's why nicole is surprised when melody is shouting.

LOUI J if one messes up, the whole thing is off. Nicole wouldn’t have asked to turn off the mic or anyone else in the group. Mic’s always have issues. Some microphones have to be plugged in after the machine is on, and not when it’s already plugged in. It’s not a universal issue but it’s common.
