She also explained how this connects to Badlands. Room 93 is a hotel room fantasy about the same shitty relationship which takes place IN Badlands which is pretty much an abandoned run down city with danger covered by this deserted wasteland representing her mental state. She said Badlands is kind of like a realm inside the hopeless fountain kingdom. So it isn't completely like Badlands because Badlands is one part of the hopeless fountain kingdom, which is why it's a little bit different because I think it's showing you the other side to the story. I pulled quotes from her exact interview so here you go for anyone who's confused :)))

But in this the roles were switched so HALSEYS character is kind of a montague while the guys she's in love with is a capulet. The woman she's arguing with is either probably her friend because in Romeo and Juliet nurse helps Juliet meetup with Romeo. So she's yelling at the nurse to support her decision. Halsey character and the boy love each other but everyone is keeping them apart. And she got shot to show resistance, how when the psychic said things will get in the way, the society is getting in the way trying to kill them. So she takes her chance and drives away

JEFFF !!!!! The music video is INSPIRED by Romeo and Juliet. It doesn't follow everything minuscule detail of the original story and play nor are the characters supposed to be the exact characterizations of Romeo and Juliet. Halsey created and shaped these characters and inspirations to fit her vision for Hopeless Fountain Kingdom era. The explanation I just gave is close to the one that Halsey, herself, explained about the music video when I attended her Q&A for the video premiere. It might not have been word for word but it's pretty much the gist of it. There's a lot more going on than just good and bad and everything I just said above was just the utmost simplified version of the story that Halsey was trying to tell in the music video.

I've been a fan of Halsey since the very beginning, and I know a lot of people will disagree with me after reading these comments, but I'm personally obsessed with this song and I really do like her new sound. With most artists, their second album is always going to have a different style and vibe to it because it is with this album where the artist learn which sounds they want to retire and which sounds they want to experiment with, and that's exactly what Ashley is doing. I love the juxtaposition of conflicting themes in this video. Like the "angels" who at the end turn out to be the evil that strike first, or the shouting convo between Halsey and her friend with the silent one of the angel guy with his friend, or the fact that the girl kept the forbidden relationship a secret while that asshole told everyone and started the fight. based on my research, aureum is a latin word which means gold or golden. there's also a plant called epipremnum aureum which has a lot of common names such as golden pothos, hunter's robe, devil's vine and devil's ivy. while angelus it is a prayer of devotion. ringin of church bells. evil vs the good. a shared love between the evil and the good and how it wasn't accepted at HFK. LOVED THE CONCEPT.

I've been a fan of Halsey since the very beginning, and I know a lot of people will disagree with me after reading these comments, but I'm personally obsessed with this song and I really do like her new sound. With most artists, their second album is always going to have a different style and vibe to it because it is with this album where the artist learn which sounds they want to retire and which sounds they want to experiment with, and that's exactly what Ashley is doing. I understand that we all have our own opinions, but I think we should just relax and have faith in her and know that she won't disappoint us with this upcoming album. Lets just give her our love and support like we always do.

I love the juxtaposition of conflicting themes in this video. Like the "angels" who at the end turn out to be the evil that strike first, or the shouting convo between Halsey and her friend with the silent one of the angel guy with his friend, or the fact that the girl kept the forbidden relationship a secret while that asshole told everyone and started the fight. This video is so full of meanings and the more I watch it the more I find them.
