For everything Miyamoto has accomplished, I'm having trouble overlooking how horribly he botched the Paper Mario series with his meddling. How fucking off-base to you have to be to think Paper Mario would be better without a story or combat system?
He literally said New Super Mario Bros. has two toads as playable characters because creating another character model sounds like extra work. That's the least Nintendo thing I've ever heard, and it came from the very face of the company.
I am thoroughly devastated to hear this coming from Dan. I haven't loved let alone liked a Mario RPG since perhaps Browsers Inside Story, I didn't even try Paper Jam I was so disillusioned. Frankly this is heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking!!
It's just someone's opinion. I've played it and the battle system isn't that hard to get used to. I'd say it's just as easy as the originals just with consumable attacks. I suggest renting the game or wait for the price to go down. I wouldn't let one person get you down about this.
Everything Dan was saying was Exactly what I was afraid of with this game... Man, that game looks fucking Beautiful too! but I don't really want to play sticker star again. that was alright once, but a longer sequel with that same gameplay? no thanks. (But Super Paper Mario was cool, I don't agree with Dan on that! It felt way more like a Paper Mario game than the last few at least.)
The problem is, Paper Mario and TTYD are excellent action RPGs with great writing. Super Paper Mario is a underwhelming puzzle platformer with great (if overly-heavy) dialog.
I say otherwise. I've played it and it's quite fun. the battle system really isn't as terrible as people make it out to be. it's serprisingly fun. the only problem I have with it is that the attacks are consumable. but hey, at least there's a reason to fight in this game unlike Sticker Star. it's not the same as the first 3. but there's still a reason. I suggest renting it or wait for the price to go down. check it out for yourself.
Dan channeling Jeff was great.
They call me the Slurp Bandit.

And without unique NPCs

Totally. Infinite respect for the dude, but I disagree with him on this.
Maybe time to step down and let the future creators do their thing.
This will hold me until the toilet paper argument of 2016

Jason Lee it's not that either. it's just Ok. the battle system in the first 2 are clearly better.
One of these guys literally sounds just like Conan O'Brien, that's a compliment btw.
Uhh, which one? Timecode and what line?
Nukleon 0:38 the guy who says he wants to keep making it through the story because it's making him laugh.
That's Dan Ryckert. Don't think he sounds that much like Conan though....
I would rather play paper mario color splash than Dragonquest heroes. Seriously!
The story is garbage too. We went from villains like the Shadow Queen and Count Bleck back to Bowser and loads of paper jokes.
