Patrick, what you said in the past is dead on: this place is headed for development. You can see it. It's already charming, well-serviced, and urban. About the only thing missing is new-ness. Everything is older...but, not dilapidated in the way you see in Portugal, Spain, or Italy. In those places, things are falling apart and the population decline makes rebuilding less practical. You can see that they've taken fairly good care of this place. You can tell that eventually, the investors are going to start pumping capital into the economy. You got in at the right time. I wouldn't be surprised if property prices double in the 5-7 years. Great video, as usual!
I am also a natural fast walker, I always have been. I have noticed that, for the most part, the people keep their vehicles nice and clean. We have so many farmers, that is not the case in my area. Nice walk Patrick. “Alley cat” …😂 . I’m learning so much thanks to your walks. Thank you. Happy New Years evening to you and April. 🎊🥂🎊
Happy New Year to you and the Mrs! Glad you're feeling better. Love all these streets with character, not like where I live where all the great older buildings are being torn down and replaced with cold, cookie cutter ultra modern buildings!
lmao ! No i haven't...I pass it all the time when i travel from here to Tirana and back. But im in a taxi or bus and not filming as i pass them. Old factories im guessing ? You put a smile on my face. Your the first person to ask me about that.
Happy New Year Patrick and April. May 2025 be a prosperous year for you and your family. 🙏🎉🍷 Thank you for the shoutout. You never know..I may move to my birth home way before retirement age. God Willing 😁
Great video quality! Would it be difficult to post date and temperature at the start of the video? I see people with big coats and wonder about that. Also, I see lots of folks on the street hanging out. Is there high unemployment?
Hi there, Albania does have a relatively high unemployment among the youth. Partly because the jobs that are available do not pay much. So many albanians rely on the remittance that folks in Western europe and North America send. Also, this is the peek holiday season, albania has a huge diaspora in Greece and Italy, so for holidays, folks return home to celebrate with their families
☝☝Thanks again for your reply Patrick! I'm already excited about my trip to Albania. I enjoy your videos and your narrative on them. I'm typing this as I follow this video. :) Great information for travelers.Video is fine. The glare is not bad at all imo. I enjoy walking like you do. It's the best way to see a city and get a "feel" for it. Glad to hear about the butcher shop. I'm on a form of Keto/Carnivore diet, eating mostly meat( beef and pork) eggs, and dairy(whole cream and butter). So good fresh products is very important for me. Love the back streets. You get a better feel for the "real city" away from the tourist areas. I've walked all over Kremenchuk and other cities and never felt "unsafe". I will be going to Kremenchuk Ukraine for my 4th 10-12 week stay visiting my friends there.(Family Lapkin Life on YT) I already have my plane ticket(RT) from Krakow to Tirane and a 2 weeks stay booked in Tirana. I will be planning a trip to Pogradec early on in my visit to talk to you and your wife. I'll have many questions, some of which I know you cannot answer here on the channel. I'm hoping you and/or your followers can answer a few of the more general questions over the next 6 months. Happy New Year to you and all your followers!!!! Pete in Florida
Question for you Patrick, I dont want to get you in trouble with this but in certain countries in Europe its very difficult to find a quiet place to live or even stay for a month or longer. How are things is that regard to this point? Eastern Europe, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and other countries I found it severely difficult (oh God I cant forget Romania) to get a good nights sleep. If you are numb to the unnecessary noise you have it made, but unnecessary noise gets under my skin.
Glad you’re feeling better! The camera does an excellent job of compensating for the bright sunlight. You may not be able to see where you are going but we can! Also, thanks so much for using the chest mount. It may be awkward for you but it makes for excellent videos. When motorcyclists mount a helmet cam I find it vomit inducing. To stay alive on a bike you need to be constantly moving your head around. Not a good look for videos.
HNY!! I saw this guy on my property at Pogradec lake the other day and was wondering if you've seen him or know him? th-cam.com/users/shortsT2G95bsQbuk?si=wigQ2V3JoBlnPYpt th-cam.com/users/shortsT2G95bsQbuk?si=wigQ2V3JoBlnPYpt

James !! Miss you both . Thanks for watching. Hope your ok.
Albania looks like a place I want to check out. I just won’t be doing it in winter.
Yea..If i had to pick a month Id say May or September to miss the high tourist season. But everything still open.
Have you shown people the "lady bug" Buildings? Just outside Përrenjas. My favorite wall art in Albania.

Sounds good Pete !
How often are you experiencing power outages? And if there are any, how long do they last? Just curious 👀. Brother-in-law complaining recently.
Yes there are outages here. But here in Pogradec only a few minutes. Tirana as well. id say most 5 to 15 mins long.

Hi Rick. Alot depends on if your in city center or not. My place is pretty quiet. I really think a lot of it is you adjust.
Was there any paperwork you didn't have from the US thats you needed to try and get Residency?
Nope. Still going thru it. But its looking good.
