Our version of the bucket water was putting our 3 boys in an oval type livestock tank filled with well water. When the boys were older their fav was when my husband brought out the fire hose and sprayed them as they tried to get to him before he could get them with the hose. I was usually laying in the hammock with a big glass of Sun tea listening to all that beautiful laughter. I got injuried seriously in car wreck couple years later and it was those memories of me in the hammock while my 3 beautiful boys were playing and laughing that got me through all the pain. You guys will cherish these videos when little Lennie is older. What a gift!

Yes, Americans in cities have been told that our rainwater falls through something that causes an acid to be formed. I would imagine that rain water falling in unpolluted skies would be clean and fresh! Love you three so much!
Rainwater has a low PH level. While safe to drink, it doesn't provide the normal minerals receive from drinking water from groundwater. The ground acts as a natural filter for the water to get out the pollutants in the air, all while getting the natural minerals in the ground. This is why different areas have different PH levels from groundwater.

I live in Philadelphia, PA and I would NEVER trust the rainwater here.... but I'd totally drink the rain water in the Bahamas.... that shot of the night sky was amazing! I'm sure it's hard to get the clarity at night, but I'd love to see more of it. Thx for another fun video! Xo

Rain water is the best! We used to live on a farm before we moved into city and the water outta the tap (rain water tank) it was ALWAYS cool and tasted so fresh! Now we live in a city and the water that comes outta the tap is merky at first 😂 miss me some rain water!

I have been absolutely captivated by your videos not just because of the quality of the productions but also the details of life on board in a completely different kind of ship but also somehow familiar to me albeit from a completely different perspective!
oh my god Lennys face was priceless when he chomped up and down and his face when you laughed was even more funny. Hoping people will visit the Bahamas that was not affected as that would help big time to support the people. I lived and recorded in Nassau for 2 yrs at Compass point studios in the late 80s. The people are the salt of the earth and would give the shirt of there backs. Happy sailing guys. x
I am from a twin island called Trinidad and Tobago and people here do fancy rain water. So you guys are not the only ones who love their rain water. It also has alot of healing properties.

I've watched most La Vagabond videos. I find that Lenny and his interaction with mom and dad is now has the most riveting appeal. We had a Johnny Jumper with our three children too.
Love all the videos. As a new parent of a baby boy my girlfriend and I enjoy boating. We had our baby on our boat at 4 months old. And also had to hear a lot of negative comments from some family and friends on how he was to young too be boating. U guys are very inspiring to my family and I. thank you:)

What you guys do is sick, growing up on the water I’ve always had respect for the oceans but one of the things I’ve never tried was sailing. We’ve had kayaks, jet skis, paddle boards, outboard/inboard boats but I’ve never ever tried sailing. This looks like it’s so much fun but also comes with a lot of knowledge and responsibilities. I would hopefully one day consider dropping what I’ve got and just sail around the world like this when I’m older and have a family of my own. My daughter ate EVERYTHING when she was Lenny's age and I gave her every fruit and veg there is . Unfortunately she has got fussier as she has got older. It is a shame how that can happen.
I discovered your channel by random today, thanks to TH-cam algorythm doing something well for once. You are living my dream! For several years, particular the past year or so, I've been wanting a 46ft or so catamaran, deck it with basics and just follow the winds and explore with drone, camera and diving cases for the equiptment. I HYGGER with watching a few of your videos, I wished I encounted you years ago so I could have followed, and might even have done something about it by now. I hope you all have a HYGGELIG day. Looking forward to watch the three of you some more on your travels.
Our sons are about the same age and I want my son to experience this life more than anything. This is the ultimate freedom. I hope my husband and I can migrate to this lifestyle sooner than later. Love your videos!
There's a thing in child psychology called mirroring. It is supposed to be really good for the child, giving it what is termed: resilliance. That is, the ability to face adversity and not be broken by it. Mirroring is exactly what I see you guys doing. When Lenny laughs, you laugh with him. And you look into his eyes (I can't se that except by Lenny's reaction), and you also let him rest when he needs that. I don't want to say it's perfect, because I don't want to jinx you all. But it looks perfect. And he is the most smiling baby I have ever seen on video. So, there's that too. Another reason to wish you all, all the best of luck, the wisdom you'll need, and the love you can behold ;)

Have you anchored off the shores of Bermuda? My wife and I just came back from our second trip from Bermuda and the Island is so beautiful. No bugs, flies, mesquites etc very clean and the people are very friendly. great shopping and beautiful waters of different colors from blues, to turquoise . there are a few different beaches to go to but horseshoe bay was absolutely amazing .
I live in Australia and have my entire life to fare and my house runs purely off rain water. We have a big tank in our garden that collects the water and that’s what we use for everything. I live in Victoria, Australia and all the houses in my street including mine are pretty old so filtered, pipe water doesn’t come this way. My house was built in 1983 and has had small renovations here and there but still got the original tank for our rain water. Just some little into for those who my enjoy reading it :)

i was thinking the same - we make videos too - we're quite new so I dont know if you'll have seen them, - but i always love listening out for quality music and these guys really know what theyre doing!
Kids go through phases. When our daughter was young she had a period where she would cry the entire day while I was at work, and my wife would be at her wits end by the time I'd get home. I would take the baby from her so she could relax a bit, and our daughter would just go silent immediately. She wanted the sound of my deep voice and the way I would gently rock from side to side. Only lasted a few days till she adjusted to the idea that I simply was not available at that time of day, and that was that. My poor wife just had to suffer through it for a bit and be patient with her. They are resilient and pliable. You just have to wait them out till they overcome their own little tempers.
I caught one of your later episodes, with Lenny, a few months back and knew I had to see your adventures from the beginning! Your the best "sailing the world" blog, out there! Enjoyed so much travailing your journey from start to present day!! jj
From the U.S. but learned to love drinking rain water when I was in Vanuatu and New Zealand. Cheers! Also, wonder if Lenny had a little scratch that salt water got into. He usually loves water. Right? Or, is it one of many stages to come? What were you watching? It looked good?

@elayna , yep have too agree. I grew up in Toodyay and there was nothing better than the first rains. Let it rain for a day to wash the roof, then divert the gutter strait into the water tank. Best water ever!!
Live in Hong Kong, have a stink boat and we can have a perfectly clean boat that gets rained on by a storm and the boat will be filthy afterwards! Washes all the contaminants out of the air onto the boat! The hydro carbons that end up on the boat if left there will then strip the wax of the gel coat if not removed ideally whilst wet! It’s basically acid rain! Can walk around in it swim etc without any initial side effects but the years will tell it’s certainly hard on the boat! Wouldn’t drink it that’s for sure! But would drink rainwater that you guys are for sure cheers 🍻 lol

A good counterpart to rainwater that many people in the northern U.S. have had is snow ice cream. For best results use coconut milk or rice milk rather than dairy for the little bit of milk that you add. Drinking rainwater in the U.S. is generally limited backpackers and sailors.

Great use of the word hygge! It’s pronounced who-gaa or hoo-gaa. We have one in our bedroom, it’s basically a comfy spot in which to read, write, sip tea, meditate and relax. My wife uses ours, built from an old large ottoman and many pillows two-three times a week. Oh our dog Roscoe loves it too!

Not a parent here. But an uncle of many. Many I say. I love them all and seen many techniques. Let then cry a little. Don't go running for them so quickly. One cousin has five now, she has a two door crying policy (thin land doors)......I expect he will be the coolest of them all and the toughest.

My daughter ate EVERYTHING when she was Lenny's age and I gave her every fruit and veg there is . Unfortunately she has got fussier as she has got older. It is a shame how that can happen.
I discovered your channel by random today, thanks to TH-cam algorythm doing something well for once. You are living my dream! For several years, particular the past year or so, I've been wanting a 46ft or so catamaran, deck it with basics and just follow the winds and explore with drone, camera and diving cases for the equiptment. I HYGGER with watching a few of your videos, I wished I encounted you years ago so I could have followed, and might even have done something about it by now. I hope you all have a HYGGELIG day. There's a thing in child psychology called mirroring. It is supposed to be really good for the child, giving it what is termed: resilliance. That is, the ability to face adversity and not be broken by it.
Mirroring is exactly what I see you guys doing. When Lenny laughs, you laugh with him. And you look into his eyes (I can't se that except by Lenny's reaction), and you also let him rest when he needs that.
I don't want to say it's perfect, because I don't want to jinx you all. But it looks perfect. And he is the most smiling baby I have ever seen on video. So, there's that too.

Have you anchored off the shores of Bermuda? My wife and I just came back from our second trip from Bermuda and the Island is so beautiful. No bugs, flies, mesquites etc very clean and the people are very friendly. great shopping and beautiful waters of different colors from blues, to turquoise . there are a few different beaches to go to but horseshoe bay was absolutely amazing .

@@Ty-dz9ed low minerals and electrolytes. Its almost like drinking distilled water... and there's nitrates in rain water (more in some areas).
I live in Australia and have my entire life to fare and my house runs purely off rain water. We have a big tank in our garden that collects the water and that’s what we use for everything. I live in Victoria, Australia and all the houses in my street including mine are pretty old so filtered, pipe water doesn’t come this way. My house was built in 1983 and has had small renovations here and there but still got the original tank for our rain water. Just some little into for those who my enjoy reading it :)

i was thinking the same - we make videos too - we're quite new so I dont know if you'll have seen them, - but i always love listening out for quality music and these guys really know what theyre doing!
Kids go through phases. When our daughter was young she had a period where she would cry the entire day while I was at work, and my wife would be at her wits end by the time I'd get home. I would take the baby from her so she could relax a bit, and our daughter would just go silent immediately. She wanted the sound of my deep voice and the way I would gently rock from side to side. Only lasted a few days till she adjusted to the idea that I simply was not available at that time of day, and that was that. My poor wife just had to suffer through it for a bit and be patient with her. They are resilient and pliable. You just have to wait them out till they overcome their own little tempers.

@elayna , yep have too agree. I grew up in Toodyay and there was nothing better than the first rains. Let it rain for a day to wash the roof, then divert the gutter strait into the water tank. Best water ever!!

Live in Hong Kong, have a stink boat and we can have a perfectly clean boat that gets rained on by a storm and the boat will be filthy afterwards! Washes all the contaminants out of the air onto the boat! The hydro carbons that end up on the boat if left there will then strip the wax of the gel coat if not removed ideally whilst wet! It’s basically acid rain! Can walk around in it swim etc without any initial side effects but the years will tell it’s certainly hard on the boat! Wouldn’t drink it that’s for sure! But would drink rainwater that you guys are for sure cheers 🍻 lol

A good counterpart to rainwater that many people in the northern U.S. have had is snow ice cream. For best results use coconut milk or rice milk rather than dairy for the little bit of milk that you add. Drinking rainwater in the U.S. is generally limited backpackers and sailors.

Great use of the word hygge! It’s pronounced who-gaa or hoo-gaa. We have one in our bedroom, it’s basically a comfy spot in which to read, write, sip tea, meditate and relax. My wife uses ours, built from an old large ottoman and many pillows two-three times a week. Oh our dog Roscoe loves it too!
