I love this show. The sad thing is it's one of the hardest shows to convince people to watch... No one thinks they will enjoy a sports anime.... Especially a volleyball show..... So worth it
It's like this all the time "Yo man check this show out! It's SO damn awesome!" -"What's it about?" "Volleyball :D" -"Meh. I'm not that into Volleyball bro." "BRO DO I FUCKING LOOK LIKE I'M INTO VOLLEYBALL?!? OR ANY OTHER SPORT ON THIS DAMN PLANET?!? JUST WATCH THE DAMN SHOW YOU STUPID F****!"
it was really hard to convince my friends but some of them finally gave in and let me say they all loved it. no one ever watches haikyuu and end up disliking it hahaha
The coach of Shiratorizawa (age: 71 years) was playing in high school like 55 or so years ago where the scene took place. The meta game for Volleyball was drastically different than it is today. It was common to just send high tosses like how Shiratorizawa plays for Ushijima and to have really tall players. The quick attack wasn't invented until the late '60s/early '70s which was popularized after Japan won the Olympics in 1972 and 1976 (invented by Japan's coach). In summation, coach Washijo was short and had the game against him, so to speak, and no one was willing to let him have a chance.
That’s why he built a team that’s simple. Height and strength. He detests Hinata because he sees himself in Hinata. If Hinata can beat his team then he could have made it too if he tried harder. Maybe his height wasnt holding holding him back after all, maybe it’s him all along. He built a team that short players would struggle against so he would feel like he made the right choice and gave up because he’s not blessed with height.
That visual representation of Daichi, Asahi & Tanaka helping to get Ushijima off Hinata & Tsukki will always remain in my heart. It's so perfect. This team will always stick together and fight for each other, and the seniors especially will never let anyone force their juniors down on the ground.
I play Volleyball so when I first heard about this anime, I just had to watch it. What I love about Haikyu is that, it's very realistic, and it doesn't have any of the superficial stuff. Sure they exaggerate on certain things, but that's just to emphasize certain things such as the power of a spike, or the crazy saves Nishinoya does for example. The mindset, the training, the emotions you get in a match, almost everything you see in this anime I can relate to as a Volleyball player. And I am glad this Anime is not only a great anime on its own, but also introduces the sports in a realistic manner.
I love this show because it makes me feel the emotions I felt when I played sports in school. The desperation of the struggle, the pain of loss, the ecstasy of victory, and the passion to play the game
Yeah, I dislike sports manga typically because of how ridiculous some of them are. There are some shounen moments in this but it's very grounded in reality and the character development is fucking outstanding. It's such a character driven series and it's a love story to the sport. Furudate's success if because of his passion
You're right, and you're wrong. First, what you're right about: All sports, and not even sports, anything you care about has the potential to induce these emotions, behavior, training, and so on because it's something you're passionate about. Regardless of what sport or activity it actually is. They definitely exaggerate a lot of things but it's only to put emphases and to make the anime that much more interesting to watch. I actually never see people cry after losing a match, and sometimes not even for winning. It only seems to happen when it's an underdog story or when the tournament/match means a lot to the individual player, or team. But it does still happen, just not as often. . . Second, what you're wrong about: However, the anime is not realistic in terms of actual volleyball. While positions are correct, some servers will be a standard hit and not some intense swing, so on and so forth. Haikyu makes Volleyball appear very organized but if you watch or play actual Volleyball you can tell that it almost seems chaotic. People are jumping with their heads cut off, there's pretty much no such thing as a fake other than dinks and setter dumps... No team ever gets faked out by the sheer number of spikers, or tempo, everyone is always being marked and most spikers have a blocker right in front of them. Volleyball is rather chaotic...
I get choked up everytime I see Tsukki's brother brag about him. Specially when the girls say "They really did it". Every person in that gym didn't believe they actually won
NeverGive UP! If they make a 24 ep season then it will cover almost 100 chs so they prob want to release back to back seasons instead of making us wait awhile
Shiratorizawa's coach earlier: "If you play a bad game, you can forget the bus! I'm making you all WALK home!" After the match: "Once the awards ceremony is over, get on the bus." He's a hard-ass for sure, but he's a good man.

An often under aknowledged moment is Coach Washijo bluntly telling his team to 'get on the bus'. A lot of reactors see this as brutal and a really shitty way of treating your team after a hard loss, but it has more context than that: Earlier in the match when Shiratorizawa are on the ropes, Washijo angrily threatens that if they give a poor showing they'll be running home. This almost sounds like a joke, but Tendou confirms that they did actually do this when he was a first year. While it may sound blunt and harsh, telling Shiratorizawa to get on the bus is actually Washijo's way of saying, "whether you won or loss, you played your hearts out today," which is why we see Tendou and Hayato react with surprise. It's all very in line with the 'Demon Coach' character: he's harsh but fair.
Yup this tournament was during fall/autumn, the nationals are going to be around january, so they have time to prepare... Something I adore about this show is that, unconsciously, you also start rooting for the other team. It’s hard not to feel bad for Shiratorizawa when you’ve seen they’re not all just talk. They work, and they work HARD for their skill. There’s no bad people here, just a bunch of young men working to achieve their dream. In another timeline, we could have just as easily been watching a show about Ushiwaka discovering his hidden love for the sport.
After kageyama defeat hinata in middle school , Hinata : " i will defeat you next time" ----- ends up spiking for him Karasuno defeat shiratorizawa , Ushijima: " i will defeat you next time" ------ ends up spiking for him in sweden adlers .. Shweden adlers 😁😁
So, the director of the first three seasons of Haikyuu is currently working on a 50 episode series of Professor Layton, which means that there won't be a season 4 of Haikyuu until Summer or Fall season of 2019 at the earliest. If you can't wait that long and want to pick up the manga where the anime left off, the chapter you'll want to start at is midway through 190.
I'm so happy they won! I would watch an episode and then watch your reaction to it, so I accidentally saw the thumbnail. I saw them crying so I assumed they lost but when they won I was so surprised and happy!
I know this was uploaded four months ago and you probably wont see this but I love your reaction to this that I'm about to go watch your whole playlist on Haikyuu! I'm so glad you're into this. I've been wanting to see a TH-camr's reaction to this series and yours is the first that appeared today. Cant wait to watch the journey. P.S. Just watched your first episode. Two things. Its a basketball anime and honestly, it gets amazingly awesome. If you see this please take the time to check if out. If you don't like it no problem, though I have a feeling you will.
Washijo (the coach of Shiratorizawa) had the skill and spirit but he wasn't allowed to play in official games because of his height and every time I think of the bathroom scene after the match all I can think about is Tsukishima being blind while Yamaguchi yells at him

After kageyama defeat hinata in middle school ,
Hinata : " i will defeat you next time"
----- ends up spiking for him
Karasuno defeat shiratorizawa ,
Ushijima: " i will defeat you next time"
------ ends up spiking for him in sweden adlers ..
Shweden adlers 😁😁
So, the director of the first three seasons of Haikyuu is currently working on a 50 episode series of Professor Layton, which means that there won't be a season 4 of Haikyuu until Summer or Fall season of 2019 at the earliest. If you can't wait that long and want to pick up the manga where the anime left off, the chapter you'll want to start at is midway through 190.
darn it you made me cry again at least it was happy tears this time :D
The whole series, your reactions have been the best I've ever seen. I adore your channel.
I love how he says ushiwaka at 1:08
HIS REACTION WAS LITERALLY MINE
Love your reaction videos! Keep up the good work bro!
After rewatching over and over, I am still emotional. WHYYYY
I rewatch your haikyuu videos like I rewatch the office 😂
Oh my gosh, I JUST found your channel and got to re-live this show through you. Binge watched all your videos. You. Are. Awesome.
Glad you enjoyed this wild ride this anime took me on
It was very intense and I feel like I'm dying.. I love this anime so much ❤
The energy he radiates off affected me too 🤣
I'm so happy they won! I would watch an episode and then watch your reaction to it, so I accidentally saw the thumbnail. I saw them crying so I assumed they lost but when they won I was so surprised and happy!
I still remember the first time I watched it I almost bite my nail off
I couldn't stop smilling when i finished season 3 i felt so pumped up and excited.
i love that they are not the demon and the club anymore!
finish the saying people what are they now! you know who im talking about! :D
I like your reaction at 1:27, it's make me goosebumps
this anime makes me so hyped i can’t even explain
Finished the series 2 year back still eagerly waiting for the 4th season

This show such an emotional rollercoaster.
I’m so glad u watched Haikyuu and am even HAPPIER that u loved it so much and don’t worry Season 4 is rumored to be coming next year!!
Been looking forward to this since you started the show. Once again, you didn't disappoint. Best reactions on YT by far. Keep it up man 💓
I know this was uploaded four months ago and you probably wont see this but I love your reaction to this that I'm about to go watch your whole playlist on Haikyuu! I'm so glad you're into this. I've been wanting to see a TH-camr's reaction to this series and yours is the first that appeared today. Cant wait to watch the journey.
P.S. Just watched your first episode. Two things. One, congratulations on your channel growth. Amazing. And two, you said you don't really watch sports anime but I have to recommend one to you. Its called Kuroko no Basket. Its a basketball anime and honestly, it gets amazingly awesome. If you see this please take the time to check if out. If you don't like it no problem, though I have a feeling you will.
5:09 I just noticed hinatas and kageyamas hair puffs up like an angered cat and I can't stop laughing 😂😂
Washijo (the coach of Shiratorizawa) had the skill and spirit but he wasn't allowed to play in official games because of his height and every time I think of the bathroom scene after the match all I can think about is Tsukishima being blind while Yamaguchi yells at him
The continuation in the manga is lit, if you ask me, the tournament is gonna make everything that happened so far in the anime feel tame
This guy is the definition of what all of us were thinking 🤔
Goosebumps... Every... Damn... Time❤️
As a manga reader, I'm ready to see this man cry in buckets once he reaches the final arc. Let's go!
何言ってるかわかんないけど、その気持ちわかるよ
