Gaslighting Simulator In all seriousness, as simple as the story is, I enjoyed it. It's not over-the-top, it doesn't have the "dudebro" atmosphere of other modern racing games, it's a believable story that worked as a neat little new feature in the F1 games.

In fact Racing Point/Aston Martin is the best choice: in terms of realistic performances as in the 2020 with the pink mercedes they could fight for podiums like in the game and as in the 2021 part of the story the team performances were lower but still with the right conditions with their experienced driver they could grab a podium (Akkerman Zandvoort/Vettel Baku). Also Mercedes are the only top team to have a free seat in 2022 to put Jackson unlike RedBull and Ferrari. And the line from Butler in the paddock about the fact that the team wanted to bring Ricciardo instead of Jackson makes sense for the amount of money that Racing Point have unlike Williams, Alfa Romeo or Haas. The switch from 2020 season to 2021 is accentueted by the fact that the team changes name. Akkerman as an old driver as it is he could never be in alphatauri cuz they pick only young talents and in conclution the story Alfa Romeo-Ferrari was already made by Leclerc, the Alphatauri/ToroRosso-Redbull by Vettel, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Gasly ecc, the Williams-Mercedes by Bottas and Russell so AstonMartin-Mercedes its more unique. For all this reasons Racing Point/Aston Martin is the cannon team.
I like the aspect of old/new clashing but think it would have been better if it was F2. Just seems silly getting podiums with an Alfa Romeo and the team being slightly happy
The cutscenes in F1 2021 BRAKING POINT is absolutely top notch. 10/10. F1 2021 so far, is the last great F1 game so far. F1 22 and 23 are the last good F1 games.

Some of these story beats just make NO sense at all. At 22:30 it's clear Akkerman is losing tons of grip and is obviously losing lots of lap time. The team for some reason insists he stay out another lap until Aiden has pitted. And when he decides to pit anyway, it's framed as "tensions between teammates" or "an incident in the pits". What? Why? At the rate he was losing lap time on those worn tires, the time lost from double stacking is probably less than the time lost from continuing to slip and slide through every corner for another lap. Akkerman made a sensible decision, overriding a stupid strategy from his team. Anyone remember Silverstone 2024, when Piastri lost a bunch of places because McLaren refused to just double stack Lando and Piastri when the weather changed? He was left out for another lap and lost a lot of time

I went with Scuderia AlphaTauri for my playthrough. The story is pretty good, not gonna lie. Fun fact: AlphaTauri used to be called Toro Rosso which is Italian for Red Bull. anyway, I liked the story in F1 2021. It's not as deep as Fight Night Champion which had an amazing story mode but Braking Point was good for what it was. I grew up with F1 racing when I was a kid but then I moved away from it. When I bought F1 2020 many years later, I only bought it cause it was cheap but once I played it, it made me love F1 racing again. But that Butler dude though. That guy is so full of himself. Even putting Aiden and Casper against each other for his own benefit. Edit: when Brian got pissed with Aiden and Casper for hitting each other on the track, I think it had to be inspired by a real life incident when Haas drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen hit each other on the track and their team principal Guenther Steiner was pissed beyond pissed. I saw it in the Netflix documentary series Formula 1 Drive To Survive.
