Are you allergic to the Star Anise Spice? When you last visited Taiwan 10 years ago, you could have gone to Din Tai Fung in Taipei. The famous Restaurant Chain is known for their Xiaolongbao aka Soup Dumplings, which they steam them. And, they DO NOT use the star anise spice to make the Xiaolongbao. You can also order lots of other dishes at Din Tai Fung that have NO star anise in the dishes. For instance, you can order Fried Rice with sliced Pork Cutlets on top, a variety of both meat and vegetable dishes, as well as desserts. Also, you can eat a variety of food at Taiwan’s numerous Famous Night Markets. For instance, you can buy the Famous Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, the Famous XXL (Extremely Large) Taiwanese Fried Chicken Breast, you can also buy a Grilled Version of the Famous XXL Taiwanese Fried Chicken Breast, the Famous Taiwanese Hu Jiao Bing, a.k.a. Black Pepper Meat (Beef or Pork) Bun, the Famous Taiwanese Hotdog, Angus Beef Cubes, Grilled/Roasted Squid, Grilled Corn, Grilled/Roasted King Oyster Mushrooms, etc. Usually, we use the Star Anise Spice for our Broth-Based Soup Dishes. One more thing, there are also numerous Din Tai Fung locations in Japan.
