  • Comparing settings with GH4 and Ninja 2 recorder. My conclusion is I get the same 4K quality from going out of the HDMI to the Ninja which captures 1080 pro res 4:2:2 rather than in camera natively capturing 1080.

I can't get my GH4 to output to my Ninja 2. I have connected thru the YAGH unit.
What settings are you using in the menu?
    Thanks

+Alan Stephens I use a GH4 with my Ninja 2. To get the best setting, set the camera to 4K 100M (either MOV or MP4) and make sure the HDMI output downconvert is either set at Auto or 1080p and set the 1080p 50/25 in PAL or 60/30 (the last setting in the HDMI settings) to 25p or 30p or you won't get a signal. If you set the GH4 to 1080p, you have to set it to record either 1080p 25fps (PAL) 30fps (NTSC) or 1080 17M which will output an interlaced signal. Using 1080p in camera will give you worse quality in the recorder as it uses a crop of the sensor, 4K uses the whole sensor, even via HDMI downconvert. If you set the camera to 24Hz for 24P the Ninja 2 should get a signal and record in 24fps progressive.
