I want that Masonic tarot! As you well know, I’m all about historical decks but most of my decks are modern reproductions. My only actual Vintage deck is actually a Thoth deck! I have a copy of the 1987 smaller edition of the Thoth with the 3 different Magician... I’m absolutely a collector and I knew I needed at least one Thoth deck in my collection if for no other reason then to have a depiction of an important Tarot style that I didn’t already have to study... It’s Beautiful but those damn Key Words still hang me up! LOL I would LOVE to add more Vintage decks as well! As far as use goes, I would continue to use the vintage decks for study and personal use but if I wanted to use it for Clients or others I’d prefer to have a more modern (cheaper) version of the deck to use instead of risking damaging my vintage copy...

If I see a copy of the Masonic Tarot up for a good price I'll let you know 😄 That 87 Thoth sounds so magical, I've always wanted an edition that came with the three Magus cards! I tend to agree with you in that while I love using my vintage decks, I probably wouldn't use them at events or for clients. Many thanks for your valuable insights, as always ☺️💚💚

I keep forgetting how cool Robert M Place’s artwork is, until I see it again. So cool. Didn’t know you owned a Thoth in one of those slide boxes! I would compare the hell out of coloration etc between modern, Greenie and .. Muddy?

He is pretty interesting! Ah, I totally forgot to mention that you have amazing comparison videos as well! While I love the sliding box versions for their worn and vintage quality, the images are super blurry! 😂 Best wishes, friend 💚

The Alchemical Tarot by Robert Place is almost a fetish of mine (ahem). I now own the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and now 5th editions of the deck. I haven't found an affordable 1st edition or I'd have one of those too.
Along with Waite and Crowley, I do consider Place to be an excellent esoteric scholar and I value his decks - particularly the Alchemical - for the depth of esoteric knowledge they contain.

@@simonfernandes6809 What a collection! I agree with you in regards to Place as a valuable esoteric scholar and author 😄

I use all my vintage decks, I by them to use, not to collect. My favourite vintage decks are all from the 70s - Royal Fez Moroccan; Sheridan Douglas; Albano Waite; Aquarian; Balbi Tarot; Blushing Fool RWS; 70s Grimaud TdM; vintage 1JJ Swiss.
If you want to scare the heck out of people get a 70s Grimaud. Death means physical death according to the lwb. If you have Death plus the Tower then you have a disease epidemic. Seriously, that's actually what the lwb says. Tarot reading with this deck back in the day would have made you s**t your pants.
What is interesting is that everyone who uses Thoth seems to have a vintage copy White Box edition. I have a 4 language White Box C Thoth which is pretty rare but it's not my favourite. I actually prefer a modern copy - the colours are better; the art has better definition , and I don't mind the white border on the back.
Not all vintage decks have better card stock. The 1990s-00s Morgan Greer has vastly better cardstock than the 1979 first printing.

Wow, I like the sound of your collection and taste! That Grimaud sounds wonderful, and a bit terrifying 😂😂 You are right, it does seem that Thoth lovers seek out vintage copies quite often! The older editions have pretty poor coloring and image quality, but I do think the 1983 Greenie is my perfect version, between the coloration and the image quality. I like your points and examples about vintage definitely not always being better! Well wishes your way, friend 😄

Oh I love that you have that -82 New Age Tarot. I still dont own any deck printed on my birth year. My view of the ”vintage timeline” is only like that cause I’m old 😂
Thanks for the VR. I’ll try to add it to a VR list on my channel. Ps. In this link you can see an image on your ”dream Thoth”

My Thoth deck is the one without the border. I got it when I was young. Am I now vintage? AM I OLD?! ;-)
