Both of them were really strong characters whom the film wouldn't be complete without, but Roland was my favorite by far. He clearly had an eithically questionable past, being an African big game hunter presumably for sport, but he was honest and frank about his motives, fearless, instinctive, and in the end he was revealed to have a clear moral compass to boot. Nick, on the other hand, either directly or indirectly caused nearly every casualty in the movie, and never showed any sense of responsibility whatsoever. Like Roland, he was brave in the face of danger (protecting Kelley) and frank about his motives (Greenpeace for the women, Isla Sorna for Hammond's paycheck), but he was also cocky, arrogant, and clearly felt a sense of moral superiority when it came to animal treatment. He didn't mention a peep of regret or remorse about Eddie Carr's death, which was a direct result of him saving them after Nick brought the baby Rex into their camp which lured the adults. The final "smoking gun" (pun partially intended) was him removing the bullets from Roland's cartridges. The whole San Diego incident, while 100% InGen and Peter Ludlow's fault, would've been averted had Roland killed the Rex rather than tranq it (Roland bears no fault for it awakening; as this was the decision of InGen vets who gave it an antidote to the tranquilizer). Bottom line, while Roland's actions (including his guidance of the group through the island to the radio station) saved a large number of the group, Nick's for the most part did the opposite. The only major things to Nick's credit were directly protecting Kelley during the Rex attack and later being the one to call in the evacuation. Otherwise he was pretty useless. To be fair, he was an entertaining and central character who added depth to the plot and played well off the other characters, but my opinion is just that the movie and other characters seemed to excuse the things he did which either created or exacerbated the conflicts in the film.
Given the circumstances, it’s not far off to have Ingen sue Nick for property damage, as well as man slaughter. So it’s possible he was just simply arrested, and is in jail. Still, he was a cool character, and while his fate is unknown, we at least know he escaped Site B.
I just now realised the loose connection to the song “Roland the headless Thompson gunner” which tells the story of a man called Roland (Norways greatest son) who was fighting in the Congo war alongside another mercenary called Van Owen. Roland was so good that the CIA wanted him dead and hired Van Owen to kill him. Eventually Roland’s ghost catches up with Van Owen in a barroom in Mombasa drinking gin. Where he blew Van Owen’s body from here to Johannesburg. Could be loosely adapted to the characters from the movie.

This is totally unrelated, but it just ocurred to me again while watching this video: Am I the only one that gets the impression that the T-Rex, when tilting its head sideways and looking curiously at something, actually looks like a bit like Dustin Hoffman? Look for example at 6:43 - 45.
He was after a t Rex's and only wanted that but you forgot that there camp was taking out by nick when he let the 🦕 out. He probably had more bullets but his stuff got wrecked so only had the ones on him and he set up an ambush and didn't think or know others were on the island. So him thinking it's alright to only take a few shot since he was a big game hunter and probably a good one too. But the end is nick is a dick.
Tembo retired from being a bounty hunter & capturing dinos, moved to Boston, opened a flower shop, and started recruiting young guys around the neighborhood to carry out bank heists - until Batfleck gets tired of his threats & takes him out after a heist goes bad with Hawkeye. Nick Owen goes into hiding, gets setup for a crime he didn’t commit, gets thrown in jail & starts a Brawl in Cell Block 99.
Some that REALLY pisses me off so much is when someone has watched a movie, heard the name said, and then go out and say that characters name wrong. you've heard how their name was said, Say it the same way!!!! Don't butcher it to your own liking.
I'd like to point out those cut scenes were only cut from the DVD versions n on word. Cause I remember that in the VHS version that was a hell of a scene tho I will see j think they even left a few parts out on that to but still nice.
I am an optimist. I like to believe that Nick Van Owen continued demonsrrating his level of carefully constructed planning and well thought out actions and drowned while washing his hands.
Everyone blames Nick as a bad guy but he really wasn't. Ajay did worn everyone not to go into the long grass cause he knew raptors were there but they didn’t listen so he removed his backpack in hopes Nick, Ian, Sarah, and Kelly would find it and they did. Then Nick went on ahead cause Ian hurt his leg but eventually Ian, Sarah, and Kelly caught up with him. As for Roland i never saw him really as a bad guy either since he helped Sarah, Ian, and Nick when they were on the side of the cliff and helped Kelly down from the craft thing above the trees. As well showed concern for Sarah thinking she was injured but it was just blood from the baby Rex
Guys hear me out, Nick was the one being hired to sabotage and free the dinos when Ingen step foot on the island do you think Nick was the one who freed some dinosaurs in the ship’s cargo that killed the crew believing it would stop the ship reaching to San Diego but turns out It was a mistake and he got eaten as well.
Nick wasn't responsible for all the deaths on the island. They only had a few dinosaurs in cages, not all the dinosaurs. Also, they had no T-Rex or velociraptors caged. I'm more interested in knowing what killed all the crew on the ship. The T-Rex couldn't have gotten inside various areas. So, probably a velociraptor was on board.
The problem was all the gear that was destroyed, like their communication equipment. If they don't lose that equipment those most of the deaths don't happen.
Hammond probably paid nick and aided him in 'vanishing'. Tembo most likely just fadded away after the event of the lost world, you can see the defeat in his face. Without ajay, along with being bested by the rex, he probably licked his wounds; then fadded away
hello hey man can explain a plot hole from Jurassic Park that I could never find out the storyline when Ellie and Muldoon leave the bunker to go to the tyrannosaur pen they are wearing clean waterproof yellow rain jackets and they arrive at the t rex Penn when they get out of the jeep the raincoat on Ellie and Muldoon are covered in blood? what was supposed to happen between leaving the control bunker and arriving at the t rex Penn this has always annoyed me hoping you can give me a solid answer? thanks?
Would've loved seeing Nick back as an ecoterrorist rather than Claire and he might've helped the Jurassic World films be something better than what they were.
Destroying ingen property qouldn't mean squat honestly, because Sarah helped him in that and nothing happened to her, and everybody in the team was in on it as well so there's no way they would only go after Nick
Nick van owen was the best character in the lost world imo. Its a travesty what they did to my boy, but i understand, the studio execs would have been to confused in jurassic world with the main character being Owen then bringing back Nick Van Owen. They just dont have the brain power for that.

always thought Roland went to hunt Vick for his sabotage
Steals his "shotgun" shells out of his elephant gun. :,D I love listening to non-Americans talk about guns. Back to what's important, great videos as always brother man and keep up the good work!!!
Dr. Robotnik captured them
Roland spent enough time in the company of death so wanted no part of it. And Nick went back to doing whatever it is he does when hes protesting
6:44 the good old says when gas was only a $1
Shadows you wanna know lamest plot twist that I found out what happened to both Nick and Roland the Jurassic Wikipedia Gon say "Nick was killed by the T-Rex after returning the Infant Rex back" and another thing to they said "Roland Tembo died in a helicopter crash on the way off of Isla Sorna like Wtf how would they die if they obviously went home after everything happened on Site B
CarmeloMurrayFisher145 Google just be sayin stuff that don't even make sense it's like they never watch movies they don't know the history the Theories What happened to the characters or non of that 🙄
@@LilScoot2709 Exactly
I think Roland continued to live on his ranch in Kenya and eventually died in 2011 (The same year his actor died).
I met Sarah Harding in a blockbuster video shop, we got to chatting and we picked a video and I invited her back to my place to have dinner and watch the video. 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for this, definitely entertaining content enjoying all videos you’re making lots of love from India 🇮🇳 ❤
My pleasure 😊
"Shotgun shells from his elephant gun". That . . . That sentence bugged me
This is totally unrelated, but it just ocurred to me again while watching this video: Am I the only one that gets the impression that the T-Rex, when tilting its head sideways and looking curiously at something, actually looks like a bit like Dustin Hoffman? Look for example at 6:43 - 45.
Can you do a video on. Why was there a hole in the fence in Jurassic park 3?
Hole in the fence?
@@Mikhail210 yeah there's was a hole a small hole in the fence in Jurassic park 3 where Erik and Alan went through to get away from the spinosaurus
@Amp661 what do you mean?
@TheDragonTrainer1019 my thing is how the spino broke through the fence like nothing lol
@@Thekulprit92 no no in Jurassic park 3 there's a small hole in the big fence, Alen and Erik went through it to get away from the Spinosaurus
Who would think two bullets are not enough on a dinosaur island?
Those are 600 nitro Express rounds. Insanely powerful. Two would be more than enough to take down a T T-Rex.
My headcanon is as follows; Lost World, The Cell, Dodgeball.
Amazing video and probably Nick went to John Hammond to tell what happened on the island and the many deaths also the capture T-Rex too.
Love the PS1 music in the backgroud.
Some that REALLY pisses me off so much is when someone has watched a movie, heard the name said, and then go out and say that characters name wrong.
you've heard how their name was said, Say it the same way!!!! Don't butcher it to your own liking.
I think nick van owen is owen grady
I think the company snatched dude up, he's probably a half dino half man creature living in The Restricted Area with all of Wu's other "failures"
They where tired and left for hotdogs
Well the original voice actor that played Rolland passed away after the the lost world Jurassic Park was completed
Yea but they showed him in the helicopter leaving with Sarah Ian and Kelly
He went back to the island and sabotage the ship, the baby t rex leg recovered which means when they caught it it was probably weeks or days
Done a video on that too ;)
The problem was all the gear that was destroyed, like their communication equipment. If they don't lose that equipment those most of the deaths don't happen.
good thing he only punch the guy with 1 hand and not with both
Well if rumors for the new film are true that I’ve heard, the Nick character would fit perfect for a return especially with Vince still around.
Wow the dude switch gun shell
The overgrowth and disrepair of the facility is too much for 4 years.
Hammond probably paid nick and aided him in 'vanishing'. Tembo most likely just fadded away after the event of the lost world, you can see the defeat in his face. Without ajay, along with being bested by the rex, he probably licked his wounds; then fadded away
He’s not an eco terrorist. By him stopping the police from shooting at the T- Rex, saved them.
lol he work on dodge ball
It's a shame that Pete Postlethwaite is no longer with us. It would have been wonderful to see Roland again.
Thank you Chuck Norris for that memorable scene from the Dodgeball Movie.
The narrator's voice makes you so intrigued to the video. Great video tho. Love Jurassic park 😊
Thank you 😁
Well a likely reason Roland tembo won't come back is because the actor died
Yesses 👀💪🏿💪🏿👀
Plot hole. Removing rounds from it casing is not quick or easy so there no way he would have enough time to remove them without getting caught
hello hey man can explain a plot hole from Jurassic Park that I could never find out the storyline when Ellie and Muldoon leave the bunker to go to the tyrannosaur pen they
are wearing clean waterproof yellow rain jackets and they arrive at the t rex Penn when they
get out of the jeep the raincoat on Ellie and Muldoon are covered in blood?
what was supposed to happen between leaving the control bunker and arriving at the t rex Penn this has always annoyed me hoping you can give me a solid answer? thanks?
Very interesting will look into it
Would've loved seeing Nick back as an ecoterrorist rather than Claire and he might've helped the Jurassic World films be something better than what they were.
Roland goes on to “practice law” for Keyser Soze
I think carmea guy left to somewhere
What's the name of the creepy music in the video
The JP guru ❤
Destroying ingen property qouldn't mean squat honestly, because Sarah helped him in that and nothing happened to her, and everybody in the team was in on it as well so there's no way they would only go after Nick
If only they stuck to the continuity of the series, instead of introducing raptor training and messing up the last 2 movies
personally, the lost park was my least favorite jurassic park movie. it was so far from the book
Nick van owen was the best character in the lost world imo. Its a travesty what they did to my boy, but i understand, the studio execs would have been to confused in jurassic world with the main character being Owen then bringing back Nick Van Owen. They just dont have the brain power for that.
I never thought there was any ambiguity about what happened to the Van Owen and Tembo in the third act? Tembo outright says he wants nothing more to do with them, and I think it’s just a given that Nick’s part in the story is over after they returned
