Pro tip for watching any SLS event on TH-cam: fast forward 10 seconds every time someone bails or lands a trick. U jump straight into the next persons roll-up instead of listening to an extra half hour of talking for every event
I don’t understand why the judges scored Malto so high even with some simple tricks. I understand it’s still difficult but compared to the others man c’mon
They scored the tricks properly, it’s not like malto got big scores, it’s just that it’s cumulative so the fact that he didn’t bail once put him over the guys who were bailing, Nyjah, cole and Ortiz all bailed
The thing about 'playing it safe' as Malto did is that if he would not have had 100% consistency he'd be out completely. Well deserved win, totally missed Sheckler in the other sections tho.
@Javier Gonzalez I felt bad for Chris Cole. He skated so good that day. As much as a lot of people were upset with the way Malto won, it was good that he revealed a massive flaw with the scoring system in how punishing it was towards skaters bailing once on gnarly stuff.
So glad they got rid of Felix Arguelles. Dude doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about most of the time. 21:20 “could be the most tech trick we’ve seen attempted yet,” talking about Chris Cole going for the half cab noseslide to nollie 270 heel out. Meanwhile Nyjah is over there trying a kickflip bs noseblunt bigspin out which is without a doubt a much harder trick
Thank you for uploading this, bro, I made a list of all SLS years now, take a look If you want it ;) Also... Malto: *Did an Ollie* Judges: Amazing, surely at least 6.5 That man play so damn boring and safe 🤦🏻♀️
Thats because the skating has improved over a decade of progression since then, the judges know to expect more now. But Nyjah executed it perfectly and did a trick no one was doing down a knarly rail, in a competition. I've seen people do it in video parts after few tries and slams. I don't even think Nyjah thought he was going to pull it off?
He never qualified in recent years because he never evolved and can’t keep up. SLS realized they can’t let skaters win this way and this is the reason SLS is the way it is now. You must do harder tricks to win. Most notable trick malto did in SLS was like a gap to overcrook that got him like a high 7 lol a couple of years back.
Obviously, there has been over a decade of progression since then. They score it according to the level at the time. If the level of skating today happened back then, we would have a 10 club I reckon.
@@Dranzerl Exactly, if someone said back then I'm going to heelflip switch down a 10-stair rail, and big spin out, people would be like "Are you trying to get killed?" now people do shit like that in their runs.
What in the world is Mikey Taylor doing trying that front feeble to overcrook???? He’s not close, not even a little bit. It’s like seeing one of those kids at the skatepark that says he’s going for a tre flip down the stairs even tho u know he’s never landed a tre flip in his life & he’s just flinging the board & not even getting remotely close.
Congrats to Sean for winning. Dude was always hardcore. but JESSSSUS man what a boring competitive skater. Who enjoys watching Sean do nothing substantial, but land all of his "riskless" tricks. I get that he's doing hard tricks, but every other guy there can do the same thing he's doing over and over again. If he would have gotten 4's for every 6 he got doing the same stuff and still won, then I think he would have really deserved it, but he got like +2 every time just for stepping on the board...
I honestly don’t know if the others could balance nosegrinds every try like Sean can, Nyjah scrapes the fuck out of his nosegrinds, harder than it looks, especially on a fat hubba, if Sean’s nose goes down he’s flying to the bottom of the stairs with a concussion
I know it's 12-13 years later but it still annoys me how Sean won the overall championship. Nyjah won every stop in 2011 and then came second in this one. Sean came 4th in one previous stop and didn't even place in the others. Judges also way overscored his bum-ass tricks imo
I respect Malto for playing the game the way its supposed to played, but those judges were very, very generous.

I can confirm this works
Haha hard out I’ve done it for years

thanks for uploading this!
Also it's easy to forget how good Chris Cole was and he was the oldest guy there
Le seguia Billy Marks casi con la misma edad y eran unos mounstros los dos...
Thank you so much!

Malto and Taylor did the exact same tricks in the line section. Taylor got 5.2 and malto got 5.5?
thankssss man 🙏🏾

9.9 for Nyjah on that trick? I`m pretty sure they don`t give that high point so easily these days on that trick.

I'll tell you the truth if it were today malto wouldn't go beyond qualifications, these basic tricks are not champion merit

@@kellyvandermeel9794you are correct and people don’t understand how skating was years ago

chaz ortiz five o grind is a 2.5 but a malto crooked grind is 7.7. is a crooked grind on the same rail really that many more points>???

Debió dejar que Billy pasará al menos daría un mejor espectáculo...
I didnt know chris cole was this good back then, almost 360 backside flipped a stair set first try
Damn they overscored Malto
They didn’t over score, he just didn’t bail

Ryan’s dad is awsome
Chris cole the best
Sean Malto = 😴
Such a boring skater. Everyone else doing bangers and he’s over here doing eatery variation of crook grinds lmao
Not boring if you know the level of difficulty of those tricks.. that’s like saying curren caples is boring haha
Malto must be dating one of Dyrdeks sisters or something.
