      @payitforward9442  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      LemonBarchie Hi, We purchase all our grograin ribbon on line from ebay sellers, there is an Aussie store called Sarah Lauren who keeps some stock of the 75mm grosgrain in limited colours.

    • @LemonBarchie
      @LemonBarchie 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm ok, might have to order something, I tried with the 66mm ribbon and made a mini bow, which I think I will give to my little cousin who also cheers, might suit her size better than the normal size bows anyway :)

    A quick tip--if you are getting glue strands from the hot glue, blow the bow quickly with a hair dryer. It will cause those strands to shrink right up and disappear. When I was a florist, we did this all the time when we glued in elements to a fresh/silk design or planting.

    Enjoyed the tutorial so much. I've been bonding the heat & bond to the spandex and cutting them to the length and width needed, but I will try your method of attaching it to the grosgrain ribbon instead.

    Hi, I just want to say you're AWESOME! I cant wait to use your bow template, I already use about the same pinching technique, but without the alligator clip(which now I also can't wait to use!lol) I also wanted to give you an easy idea, instead of using the twist ties, try using zip ties, they are so much easier. You can start by just tightening it a little so you can "fluff" the bow to your liking and then pull it all the way tight when it's positioned to your liking. Thanks again for all you do!

    • @payitforward9442
      @payitforward9442  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keri Stanton Hi Keri, Thanks for the great feedback, I have used zip ties before also, you're right the fine ones work really well, my old hands just seem to prefer the twist ties!

    Also, when printing this template, what should it be scaled to? My print out does not look the same as the template you are using in this video…or can you provide the measurement of the end of the tail to the meeting point of the template…it looks like it’s about 6 inch tails. Thank you!

    • @payitforward9442
      @payitforward9442  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Glad you found this tutorial useful, the measurement from the end of the tail to the meeting point is 4 inches on my print out, I hope this helps! All my suppliers are here in Australia and are local to us so I'm not sure if these will be of any use to you, are you in the USA?
      Kind regards, Lisa.

    Good for you for taking the time to share this info. Those of us that had to figure it out through trial n error wouldve loved this!!!
    I have one question I'm curious about. Why do u use those twisted ties opposed to zip ties? I've used both n have found that the zip ties make the bows last 10 times longer than the twist ties as long as the pony o is put in the zip tie n a lil pie of the 10m ribbon on the pony o where it touches the zip tie. If ya haven't yet, give it a try! Let me know if it works better for ya and again, thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊

    Hello! Great video! Any hints on what to do if you have areas where heat and bond does not adhere?? THanks!!

    • @payitforward9442
      @payitforward9442  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Number 1 is Repress, number 2 is some brands of heat and bond are better than others, sometimes the gluey web comes adrift this usually doesn't affect the finished bow unless it as at the tail end. Tip if you have a sheet of heat and bond that has separated repressing it to itself will adhere the glue web back to its backing paper. Hope this helps.

    I love the video!! Just wondering if you have a template for a slightly smaller bow.

      +Mary Morales-Alvarez Hi Mary, I don't have it digitally only in hard copy. Just reduce size. Easy enough to do even in printer settings if you don't have an imaging program.

    Thank you for the instructions. The only heat press I can find has steam. I thought steam was no good for vinyl. Does your heat press have steam and if so, how do you handle that? Thank you.

      Michelle Mitchell Ours didn't have steam. Good luck

    Thank you for your tutorials, they are so helpful. I wanted to ask how you keep your cheer bows stiff?

      Kelly McDonald Hi Kelly, adding the lycra using this method gives you a perfect firm but flexible bow, that is why we use Lycra.

    love your tutorial... only wish I had found this before I finished 35 of the 45 cheer bows I am working on! lol I am curious though.. any reason why you don't use zip ties to hold the ponytail holders in? I have been so paranid about mine coming out, i thought the zip ties would be best, but then i hated using the fabric/ribbon in the centers for the same reason you said you don't wrap your bows.

      Jenn Walker You can use fine zip ties, I just prefer less bulk at the back of the bow, its a personal choice.

    What do you find is the best way to efficiently cut 3 inch heat n' bond strips? Thanks for any guidance -- Kim

    If I were to make these just out of the grosgrain, how would I make it stiff? Thank you!

    • @payitforward9442
      @payitforward9442  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      caden92 Hi, these bows work really well if you fuse two pieces of grosgrain ribbon together with the fusible webbing, this makes them a much better weight for folding.

  • @sherryahern
    @sherryahern 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you use the grosgrain as the front and the lycra as the back of the bow?

    • @payitforward9442
      @payitforward9442  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would double up on grosgrain rather than waste the expensive lycra. Double grosgrain make a nice inexpensive bow.

    Thank you sooo much for all your tutorials.... hoping you can help me.... i am using your template for some bows that i am making for a cheer camp... i was given this job last minute so i wasn't able to find 3" ribbon in the quantity that i need so i have to use 2" ribbon..... my question is.... should i change the length of my ribbon? And if so what should the length be? I know i can cut the tails to make them as short as i want, but I don't want to be wasteful since it is for a fundraiser. Please help!

    Can you provide a link to where you buy your bulk heat and bond and Lycra. I'd rather buy from a trusted company than some unknown name on the internet. Thanks for your videos.
