May surplus dahil limited pa ang coverage. Instead of taking it out of philhealth, coverage should be increased. If there is still surplus, then keep saving so to be used when more people get sick. Remember, the young people will eventually get older in the future, and more Healthcare needs.

4 days ago, dinala anak ko sa isang private hospital somewhere in metro manila dahil sumakit na nmn tiyan nya. outpatient siya. pinahiga sya sa ospital na electric fan lng ang gamit while waiting for the lab results. after several hrs lumabas sila with bills of 12k+ php.

If you ask me, Phil. Health should have written a straight forward policy ages ago whereby -
    1. Contributions should finance medical costs of contributors and/or their dependents; while
    2. Subsidies from the government should fund the medical costs of identified beneficiaries i.e. the marginalized members of our society.
Then there should have been NO "unspent" subsidies of almost php9B which is now an object of/for corruption (?)
    ... NOT rocket science, I believe ..

That money could have been used to fund my mother's cancer treatment.

It is.high time PhilHealth made wise use of gov't subsidies to substantially cover medical needs of our sick SENIORs, PWDs, and marginalized citizens.

Nakakaputangina talaga.

I experienced paying php100k for med. exp. of my dependent BUT PHILHEALTH only covered php3k!!
Then there are a lot of doctors who do not give phil. health discount on their PF.
I believe PhilHealth MUST increase the COVERAGE of the medical claim benefits of the members.
Also, they should NOT compel OFWs to contribute because these OFWs are well covered by their employers abroad.

That "systemic problem" is actually a stupidity problem that has no cure! Philhealth benefits are based on medical case rates which depend on the final diagnosis. For a hospital bill of more than 500K for brain trauma, the deduction is only 11K. How is that beneficial?
