They are slaughtering 1 million salmon at this moment because the sea lice have eaten so much of their flesh that they can not live through the winter. Terrible way to produce food and un humane way to keep animals.
Around 11.000 Icelandic anglers and 7.000 foreign anglers come to Iceland every year to fish for Salmon, there are 12 people working full time for arctic fish the company that many thousands of salmon escaped from the sea pen and are now spawning in the Icelandic rivers.
I think that the Norwegians that own most of the sea pens are given our resources by the government and not paying tax of the money they make here in Iceland.
