I love your teaching style. I have learned more from you than most videos to get started watercoloring. Its the way you break it down in simple steps, make mistakes, then show us how to fix them. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much Emily, you are a gifted teacher and artist, it is rare to find both. God bless you for your generosity. So glad to see you are a mom as well, your child is blessed to have you as I am sure you feel the other way around. Thank you Emily you stand out!
Love you explaining everything in an easy learning way. Plus you tell us little hints & pointers of papers, types of brushes & paints. Watercolor is so scary & you make it easy & fun & positive with are work! Thank you Emma!
Loved seeing your paintings. I just started following you this month went to hobby lobby got a bunch of paint n new brushes and jumping through your videos.. 💕 thank so much.
Wow! Your watercolor paintings are beautiful. It would be interesting to see your evolution from when you started to paint with watercolors. I love your animals' paintings. All of them are fantastic. The lettering is such a nice touch too. Thank you!
I would like to second that teaching style comment. It’s been years since I picked up a brush. It was oil paint But as much as I moved the end result, the smell and the cleanup mess turned me off. You have made watercolor a JOY. Thanks so much
I really appreciate your talent. I took up oil painting after I retired and I love it (not super great but it’s fun to me). Then started watching you to give me a break from oils. Cheers!
Hi Emma I am really enjoying your channel I have just started painting and loved listening to you sharing your previous paintings whilst I practiced my leaves, I look forward to watching your videos and having a go myself. Thank you 🤗
I have been struggling, and with you, I am able to grasp some things and have you to thank. I have and still am following a lot of artists, but just couldn't do it. With you, voilà. Thank you thank you.
Yes I know , but you guys make it look so easy 😀. I have a travellers notebook and hate making mistakes. But try to practice like you said . Enjoy your videos , very easy to understand.
Just found your channel, and now I'm binge-ing all your tutorials. I love your technique and teaching style. Would love to have a walk-through of your entire palette layout. It looks so efficient for mixing. Cheers!
Seeing your "limited" supplies, really keeps you so human 💗 it's so hard to not want to buy every single thing you see on TH-cam. You could make little sample pallets and sell them off, if you wanted to get other paints to try. But I love how you don't need to have everything, admire it so so so much!!! 💗 I'm trying 🙈
Great job! I’m 53 and have bought a million different watercolor paints, but have yet tried to paint! Every time I watch you I get closer to starting, so thank you!😊💗 I absolutely love ur animals, flowers...basically all of ur work! I can’t wait for all ur fall Halloween videos! PS, don’t make the mistake of letting ur insecurities hold you back! I did with many things over the years, and I do regret it! Go for it!!!!😊💗👍🏼
You did a good job being on live stream Emma. Your demonstrations are so helpful and you take your time explaining how you are painting all your subjects. It takes courage to do the live stream videos, good for you. Going to practice doing leaves mine always look so hard and not soft looking. Explaining the pressure used in painting them is really helpful.
Appreciate you trying to connect with your followers ‘live’, but for me, I prefer your focused lessons - quick and to the point! Well done for trying this format though ... but don’t stop your amazing lessons 😉
Hi Emma... it’s Lisa from Australia. I have loved your videos and it has really helped me get started with watercolour. And now I am hooked... in love with watercolour painting. So a huge thank you! 🍃🌸🍃
The silhouette painting of lavender is one of my fav! You should do a fall color version with wheat. Love all the flowers . I feel the same way. FLOWERS make me happy. I suck at humans and animals. YOURS ARE GORGEOUS!
I also love mixing color. I got a sample pack of Cotman three primaries. And my most fun paintings are with that set. It just takes a bit more time to do, but so satisfying.
Definitely sell your originals and think about a book. You are very talented. You inspired me to start and keep going. I actually tried to buy one of your art pieces the other day, but it sold out to fast.
I watched this with my two year old watching along with me and she LOVED your animals! I loved them too, especially the sea turtle and jelly fish!! I know you love your flowers (I do too), but you should really do an animal tutorial series too!!!
Wow, who knew that leaf painting would be so challenging, but magical. (Lol) Love your maple leaf. Just found your channel and am binge watching too, like others here! Thank you for a wonderful tutorial!
I love your videos, you've helped me so much! You make things seem simple, and less intimating. You're a really good teacher. I got my set of Princeton snap brushes on your recommendation and I love them! Thank you so much. So so so many useful tips and explained techniques. Love how you keep it simple and affordable. X
awesome video! Your work is amazing, people will buy it!! Also can you do some tutorials on those cute bunnies and lamb etc? I love your ideas for them in a nursery. And the sea turtle - those colors are gorgeous!
Do you still have any of those left to sell? I love the one with the layers of blues (Lavender, maybe?). At the 57:17 mark. You said you really love that one, and so do I. Is it still available?
Damn! Damn! Damn! I missed another of your live sessions because I finally fell asleep! (I suffer, very badly, from insomnia since childhood). But I'm SOOOOO excited to watch this now with my morning/evening cup of joe! Way to go, Em! I LOOOOOVE leaves and we all especially love yours. Happy fall AND happy Sunday, Emma! (and NP with loving w&n best, no room or palettes for Holbein. I TOTALLY dig Da Vinci pro paints [very affordable!] and would not create an additional palette with w&n. We love what we love and I LOVE your honesty!. :) Fanna Turano (Frances) Denver, CO
And I'd LOVE to buy your leaves that you showed in your 1st pile, BUT mostly your abstract Prang florals! Tulips, poppies, etc. How do you squeeze EVERY drop of w&n paint out of each tube when near empty? Your filled palette is SUCH a sweet giveaway! How about asking a painting/Emma related question for those who enter?
Hi Emma. I live in Hamilton but spend time in Florida in the winter. Art supplies can be less than half the price there (even considering the exchange rate) through Dick Blick Art. Unfortunately the shipping cost to Canada and duty is crazy.
if i had a lot of money i would buy all your paintings lol and whatever paint you weren't using lol ...heres the thing i do now have pretty much all the things you have in terms of brushes im really glad i got them thank you for telling us and i now want the new paper ur using since yes i agreed with everything you mentioned in your new go to paper video going to try to get it i love how the paint dries in them pretty nice..again thanks for posting it hugs for the big boy i know hes growing fast stay safe
Emma, thank you so very much for such a thorough tutorial. Pooling has been my biggest struggle. I'll be painting leaves by the bag full now. :) - are there any tricks for just avoiding the pooling all together as you did in the first leaves? Is it really just about how much water is in the brush?
Thanks for the nice tutorials. Do you still have the cherry blossoms, grey pumpkin holding flowers and flower border for sale? Please let me know. Thanks,
You asked if anyone wants to buy any of your paintings... I'd like to buy one of your cherry blossom paintings! Honestly your video painting them is what truly inspired me to get back into watercolor! I had painted and painted those blossoms over and over again to try and perfect it. How much would you charge me for one? And how would I go about buying it?
Love you, Emma. Honestly, you have taught me so so much! I have gotten better at managing water and color mixing and I know when I should've used the good paper! And best of all, I am starting to like my work a little and satisfaction sure is motivation!!! Thank you, thank you!
Michaels in the US started carrying princeton elite aqua brushes . Can use 40% off coupon. They are half synthetic half natural great snap. I can't find the ones emma uses in any store near me.
It was great listening to you but I don't know how to fix this so I can live chat with you. I'm sure it's in my settings but I looked and couldn't find it. Hope to have it fixed for when your live again. You could sell your paintings the thing is trying to figure out what price to put on each one? I have a problem when I paint and that's the lighting in my room it's not good. During the day it's good but not at night. Thanks for the tutorial on leaves. It helped me. Thanks again and have a great night. 🙂😎FL.
I think it would be amazing to buy some of your artwork. Even if you’re not a professionally trained watercolor painter you do some amazing work. This is just a little motherly advice cherish this time with your little one before he is big enough to talk back LOL. I have two grown children on their own And I would love them to be your sons age again. God bless

Newbie question here. I'm still confused about the paint/pallet thing. So... you just squeeze the paint from the tube into your little pallet thing? Then do you let the colors dry in the pallet and re use them? Or are they dead once they dry out?
At the beginning you advised everyone not to be scared to paint, just to do it! (Great advice!) Then at the end you talked about how scared you were to try to put your paintings “out there” and sell them! Here you are on a TH-cam channel with thousands of subscribers, who watch your videos of your paintings that are so awesome, and yet you think no one will want to buy your paintings? Girl, just do it! When I first started painting 2 years ago, I painted about 30 paintings for a little art show that the company I work for was organizing. I sold 8 paintings & got 3 commissions, and believe me, I’m not a professional! You could turn many of your small paintings into greeting cards. The larger ones, I would get some pre- made mats off Amazon and mat them, then put them in plastic sleeves, put them on your Instagram. They will sell!
Hello Emma, I’m absolutely loving your videos, over the last few weeks, this might be a silly question, but how can I tell what is a good quality paper ?
I donate my paintings to fund raisers - dog shelters etc. watch what people offer and what they sold for that will give you an idea as to what the market will pay for your paintings.
I know why she’s afraid to paint. She wants it to look okay and not be disappointed when it looks funky. I am afraid of being disappointed too especially if I have a really okay start and don’t want to mess it up.

Thank you so much Emma, your videos are very pleasant and helpful. I watch replay because i live in France.
Hello Emma how are you today? I have been painting watercolors on cards for a change. I love to paint leaves as I do a lot of flowers.
Underrated❤️
Warm and cold is subjective. The best advice is to use your color theory or a color wheel and paint. Experience is the best guide. As she just stated

Hi Emma. Love your work. Is it better to let your work dry on its own .... so your colors will blend more evenly before you use a heat tool.?
Put them on ebay for a few. You are super inspiring. Got me painting w/colour flowers ❤🌹🌹
😩 I missed the live stream! But I’m watching it now! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
When is your next live?
Do you still have the cherry blossom and grey pumpkin holding flowers for sale? Thanks,
You can sell your paintings on Etsy.

What kind of leaves go with different kind of flowers?
Hi Emma! I'll buy the first hollyhock you showed and the very last flower!

I am having trouble with leaves. Should you always put veins on the leaves?

I always find it hard to know how much paint to put on my brush . But then if You out too much water on the pallet it’s too runny ?
Natalie Young it’s all about practicing and experimenting. Over time it will become second nature!! You’ve got this!
What kind of brushes do you use?

Newbie question here. I'm still confused about the paint/pallet thing. So... you just squeeze the paint from the tube into your little pallet thing? Then do you let the colors dry in the pallet and re use them? Or are they dead once they dry out?
Yes, you can reuse them! In fact some people *won't* use them until they dry out at least a bit first. 😊
