If you turn on BPM sync and key trig for the sequencer, the LFO will start it's cycle again with every key press, so if you set up a 1 note 15 rest sequence, you can get a fake echo which you don't need to play in time with a free running LFO!
Nice vid. It was cool to follow along and try to anticipate what your plans were. I pretty much had this figured out by reverse engineering factory patch 003: Anfem which has a similar LFO based delay.
Awesome video!! I 'kinda' used it but now thanks to you I understand it in way more detail! Just a tip that may come in handy: when you set the lfo bpm sync on, if you set the display to show all values (edit -> global -> Parameter disp -> all) when you move the lfo rate knob, it shows the amount in beat mode (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, etc) BTW I also have it in blue, it looks amazing!
+Rodrigo Laporte that's a really useful tip. I should turn that feature on, but there's still part of me that thinks it'll stop me from using my ears as much - but I guess I could just avoid looking at the screen most of the time! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Hi, I am a visually impaired user of the Jaws program wanting to program some more sounds into the Korg Monog keyboard that my friend sent to me. I downloaded the drivers and the Monolog sound librarian. Buttt, they’re still in the add and remove programs folder, my question is, how to get them from that folder into the keyboard using short cut keys for the desk top and then how to program that Korg Monolog with some more sounds, other than what it already has, if you have any advice, please let me know.
Very cool. Could you not use the sequencer to do a similar thing (trig button held down to flash) each step gets a lower volume / filter than the previous - if you see what I mean ? Slicer effect sort of :-) ps - I’ve just ordered a Monologue on the strengths of your video series :-)
You don't really have a way to automate the notes you're playing outside of the sequencer, and at that point you may as well be using the sequencer + Key Trig to fake an arpeggiator (which is how I've done it in the past).
@@OscillatorSink I was thinking of sequencing and arpeggiator where a note can have an LFO such as a square with high intensity so it would theoretically turn on and off. And for each step a different note is played and we can have an arp build up. I tried to do the echo effect though and failed, having to watch this again
I'd refer to the manual for power requirements. Pay particular attention to the polarity of the adapter... If in doubt, don't risk it and source one that's known to work.
Whether they intended it, they will certainly have know that people would find ways to abuse the synthesis engine in fun ways. Pushing a synth to its far edges is often where the fun stuff starts!
This kinda thing just occurs with this kind of synth, it's really cool actually since it adds a load of hidden creative layers and it adds alot to the synth.
@@oOFTJOo Agreed. You can use this tip along with his tip #2 secret envelope on a Volca Keys synth. That synth has a delay built in that when you use these tricks with it's own built in delay you get some really tripped and random delays.
Hi Oscillator Sink, could you please shoot a video how to change the transpose on korg monologue Now pressing a key will reset the sequencer but here I wrote how to get around this problem approximately www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=118913 I think it will be useful not only for me
Hey I have a question, I’m doing everything you said but when I do the sequence the notes won’t play( they just make a quick sound) but when I press on a key and release it, it does work. do you have an explanation?
Yeah, almost certainly - there'll be other stuff already set up that's interacting with the stuff I set up in the video - have a go from an Init Patch.
love your vids keep up the great work. I just wish you would change your mic as you can hear every p, s, breath etc.. 8) its a very noisy mic .. but i digress, thanks for the excellent monlogue stuff 8)
You have by far some of the best tutorials on the Monologue available.
Thank you!

Wow the Korg Monologue is the next thing I will buy & I expect this to start Off my own bedroom studio. Your video’s are nothing short of class.
Enjoy your new synth when you get it!
Your videos are so helpful, also some good tips in comments . Thanks.
Neat little trick . I did a similar trick a few years ago with my limited monotribe. Using the sawtooth lfo.
It's a neat trick that you can apply on lots of different synths. It's a good one to have in your synthesis bag of tricks!
Oscillator Sink . Indeed a useful wewpon for the bag of limitations. Still when you a touch of reverb it can sound very very convincing. Love it !!!

+Alan Chapman good work! Reverse engineering patches a a great skill to develop - you'll learn loads of tricks that way! Thanks for watching.

Rodrigo Laporte mine is res si it matches my Korg electribe 2 sampler *^

Infact the base concept of the monologue is very much in esque of the monotribe. Thumbs up from me on this .

+kvfive you definitely could! Check out my "secret 4 extra LFOs" for lots of ideas like that ;)
You're going to love the Monologue!
Oscillator Sink I will, thank you :-)
Can you create a funky worm 🪱 sound on the monologue ala Dr Dre?
Can an arpeggio be faked with a similar technique?

UPDATE: it worked! Not perfect but it mimics a key being constantly pressed decently
Yes! Excellent work!
YES!
YUP!
Am loathe to post "good video, man," but this was a good video, man. Should work just as well on many other synths.
Can i power my monologue with 9.5 v adapter?
I'd refer to the manual for power requirements. Pay particular attention to the polarity of the adapter... If in doubt, don't risk it and source one that's known to work.
@@OscillatorSink ok.thank you
Really useful, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Got it!
Thanks again Alex
+Bass and Keys you're very welcome!
Thx love it .ta heapz m8
My pleasure
I wonder if the designers at Korg intended for us to discover workarounds like this when they left features out in the Monologue?
Whether they intended it, they will certainly have know that people would find ways to abuse the synthesis engine in fun ways. Pushing a synth to its far edges is often where the fun stuff starts!

That sounds like the Key Trig is turned on maybe? Is the Key Trig light on the right on? If so, turn that off.
Oscillator Sink No it was off but I realized I was doing it with a preset and not an init patch, could it be that?
Yeah, almost certainly - there'll be other stuff already set up that's interacting with the stuff I set up in the video - have a go from an Init Patch.
Oscillator Sink Cool i’ll try that tomorrow! your tutorials are very helpful thanks a lot !!!

In my new videos I use a pop shield, don't worry. The voice over on my newer stuff sounds much better.
