Great job Rob. I also like to point out that in Jeremiah 31:32 the Lord said it it "...not like the covenant I made with their fathers..." If it was renewed - it would have been JUST like it - only renewed. This video is pristine and so helpful. Thanks again for all of your work Rob.

The covenant God made with Abraham was "I'm giving you this land. Period," it was an unconditional covenant. The covenant made on Sinai was conditioned based upon them keeping the commandments; if they didn't then the curses of the Law (Deut 28, Lev 26) would be delivered to them (which it was multiple times, including a 70 years exile to allow the land to rest because they didn't keep the yearly Sabbatical cycles, 2 Chron 36:21).
The "new covenant" indeed was not like the one on Sinai which was conditional. A new covenant doesn't mean new commands. Thou shall not kill remains a command regardless if it was Noah, Abraham, Davidic, or the covenant given by Jesus (or even before, say, Abel and Cain).
Loving your brother and not hating him (Matt 5:21-26) was nothing brand new off the factory line, it already existed in the commandments Jesus (the Son) gave to Moses to give to His people (Lev 18:15-18). Jesus never removed His previous commands (except one, Moses permitting divorce) that He gave and He followed; He rebuked the doctrines and traditions of men who added to the commandments of God given to Moses.
      When Jesus said:
      Matthew 5:43
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
He wasn't contradicting the previous commands he gave to Moses. When he said " you have heard" he is referring to the traditions and teaching of men (the Pharisees) who twisted the commands; Jesus was correcting what was being proclaimed by the so called shepherds of His day.
People think the "keeping the Law" is keeping 613 commands. Nonsense, Jesus didn't even keep all 613 commands because half of them didn't even apply to Him; He wasn't of the tribe of Levite, He wasn't a woman, He didn't own land, etc.
Most Christians keep the commandments give by the Son to Moses and they don't even know it. If you don't marry your sister, guess what you're keeping the Law even though that command doesn't exist in the NT. If His death and blood removed the commandments of the OT, then by that definition in the eyes of God I can now marry my sister since the NT says nothing about it and we are not "free from the commands given in the Law". Sorry, that doesn't fly.
People (including myself, once upon a time) have no idea what the commands in the Law actually are and how do they apply. When Daniel was in exile (Babylonian) he kept the commands the best he could given the situation he was in.
When Paul is making his argumentation throughout all of Romans about the Law, he never deemed it bad or worth less, in fact it was good:
      Romans 7:12
12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
      Romans 7:16
16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
Nowhere in the OT does it every say the commandments (the Law) given to Moses by the Son were bondage or bad; in fact that the opposite (I'd challenge you, as people have challenged me, to find one place in the OT were it says the commandments given by the Son were bondage or bad; doesn't exist, but good luck).
      Proverbs 6:23
23 For the commandment is a lamp,
      And the law a light;
Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
If the commandments are bondage, then you're telling me that the Son wanted to take His people out of bondage to then place them back into bondage (His commands)? No. The bondage were the laws of man not the laws of God.
      Exodus 20:2
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of [a]bondage.
Continuing with Paul in Rom 10, he says Christ is the end of the law for righteousness
      Rom 10:5-12
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” (Lev 18:5)
Why is the righteousness of the Law being equated to Lev 18, because righteousness before God, or to be just before God under the conditions of the Law was that you must keep the Law perfectly, which only Christ did, hence why He could become the spotless Lamb and offer Himself freely; He was just before His Father. Paul goes on and compares the righteousness of the Law vs righteousness of God (which is faith and not works of the Law, or doing the commands as if it was a check list- good deeds out weight bad deeds).
6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
What is Paul quoting verses 6-8? Deut 30, which says the the Law is a burden right? Not really.
      Deut 30:11-18
11 “For this commandment which I command you today is [c]not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
The yoke/bondage of the Law is having to keep the Law perfectly in order to be just before God (justified by works). That is the bondage that Paul says we ought not put ourselves under again which he constantly had to deal with those of the circumcision who said salvation is through keeping the Law. We are saved through Faith which is a free gift, and we demonstrate that faith by doing His commands; "faith without works is dead, I will show you my faith by my works."
There is no foundation to how you can "love god and love your neighbor" (the two greatest commandments) without the context of the commandments themselves. Not worshiping false gods is loving God, not making idols is loving god, not getting into necromancy, witchcraft, and conjuring spirits is loving God, things explicitly laid out in detail in the OT.
What is really boils down to on the subject of "Torah observance" are the Sabbath, feast days, and food. Basically everything revolving around friends and family.
You should read 2 Kings 22, amazing reality check of Josiah and God's people living day to day thinking they were doing things the "right way" until they found the Book of the Law and discovered they were living a lie. Not only did Josiah himself have to change, but he had to do that to the entire nation; which included giving up all of their false ways and traditions.
      1. The Sabbath is in the future kingdom ( Ez 45-48, Isa 56, Isa 66:22-24 ->quoted by Jesus 3 times in Mark 9:45)
On a side note, the purpose of the Sabbath nothing being included by the apostles for the Gentiles is because not every nation operated on a 7 day weekly cycle and therefore having them do it would hinder the core of the Gospel going on. Fun fact, until the AD 300's the Roman Empire had 8day weekly cycles.
      2. Christ has fulfilled Passover, Unleavened, and First fruits. Pentecost began in Act 2 but the pouring out of the HS continues until His second coming.
      3. Fall feasts have yet to be fulfilled (Zech 14, Isa 25, 66, Ez 45-48 talk about some them being kept in the kingdom)
So if all of HIS feasts days (not Jews/Israel's, they are His and for all nations, Lev 23:2) point to Him and even the apostles continued to keep them and even encouraged the "church" to do so (ex: 1 corth 7), AND it will be in the future kingdom, then why are Christians not at the very least memorializing them?
      4. Uncleaned and clean animals were given to Noah (Gen 7:2-3) so you cannot say humanity post-flood had no concept or understanding of various kinds of animals and their purposes. Are roaches created by God, yes, and they are good. Are bees, yes and they are good. All things by God are good for their intended purposes. Most of the unclean animals are garbage disposals or the "clean up crew", just like a sucker fish in an aquarium cleans up the tank. But just because they are created by God and good for their intended purpose in the circle of life doesn't mean they were meant for you to consume; hence the distinctions God made of clean and unclean.

Even if it is not "renewed", the reason it was "not like" the one given leaving Egypt, is because "they broke it" (Jer 31:31). The New Covenant cannot be broken, like the Abrahamic.

*But, how is it that all these New Covenant teachers in Christianity are still teaching people to know God? Under the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31:34 God explicitly instructs us that we will no longer teach others to know God when we are actually under the New Covenant. The words “And they shall teach no more…” really mean, “teach up a storm anyway??? Honestly! Could it be the reason so many so called New Covenant Christians keep violating that part of the New Covenant is because we aren’t actually under the New Covenant yet, but still very much under the Old Covenant?

Thanks for the video. One additional background point that relates to the wording in Jeremiah 31:31. In reference to Peter Gentry's discussion on covenants in Old Testament (Kingdom through Covenant), there are two ways covenants are worded in the Old Testament. One is kārat běrît, which means "cut a covenant". The second is hēquîm běrît, which roughly means "to keep a covenant." Example is with Abraham, first reference is the former, subsequent and reinforcing instances are latter. "Cut" means new, where the latter version is more in line with renewed. In Jeremiah 31, just prior to "new covenant", the word used is כָרַתִּ֗י (I will cut). Therefore, it reinforces the idea that this is a new (not renewed) covenant. The LSB (Legacy Standard Bible), actually words Jeremiah 31:31 as "Behold, days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah" to better match the Hebrew text.

Thank you, Professor Solberg for the great teaching videos. I first encountered Torah observant rhetoric online and was shocked to hear the way some of them denounce Paul as some great deceiver. I was amazed at how they could twist scripture, and at times completely eviscerate the true meaning, in order to make their interpretations work. I have since learned that there are more nuanced versions, and they are harder to refute. It became exhausting responding to them. Thanks to your content, I am now far more proficient at defending my Christian beliefs.

This is confusing why did you use Hebrew to say thank you very much and peace……..?
      You read Hebrew…..?
Understand God is reading the Torah, to learn His likes and dislikes……if He is teaching us Mussar…character……isn’t a humble character what HaShem is trying to teach us…….?
The Holy Spirit tells us that Moses was the most humble man on the face of the earth (Numbers 12:3)
David is humble before God, not presuming to take the armies of Israel to war unless the true Ruler of Israel permits it (I Chronicles 14:10).
Worship in the original Hebrew language of the Jewish Tanakh primarily means means to bow down. Another definition for worship means to prostrate oneself… to humbly beseech.
      Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.
      Micah 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
      2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
      Psalms 25:9
He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.
      Joshua 1:8
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
      That’s pretty specific “this book”

As far as my personal struggles with this movement goes this may be the most useful video you have made yet! (I haven't' watched yet, but the title is very promising). My Messianic rabbi friend used "new" supposedly from its original Torah meaning of something that is renewed, rather than brand new. He also really dislikes "2nd Temple Judaism", and the Apostolic Fathers and early Church fathers like Justin Martyr for their affects on Christianity as far as how we get meaning out of Typologies especially things like the 8th day, new creation etc. I do notice, unfortunately he is an extremist among Messianics, because when I argue for the "Biblical Reasons" for Sunday worship with Seventh Day Adventists I tend to quote Messianic Jewish Sources that happily voice the significance of the 8th day with all the rituals, feasts and offering and sacrifices that took place on that day in the old Judaism of the temple and tabernacle.
Anyway my friend seems to reject certain notions like "theological Development", especially things that seem to have taken place by God's Providence. Even though this itself is extremely "Biblical" when it comes to the uncovering of Revelations and we tend to know more in the Faith as time goes by, different events transpire and we study and reflect on them in light of the scriptures.

Thank you for confirming in clear and plain teaching that I am NOT out in left field about these things! Your clear and Biblical teaching just reconfirms that, even though I am a Gentile, I can understand the plain teaching of scripture. Having heard some of those teachers who would have one believe that they can't really understand the Bible unless they are Jewish, I would sometimes say, I can't be wrong unless the Bible is wrong because that's where I got my understanding from! You couldn't "renew" a broken Ketubah because nothing could be added or subtracted. The New had to replace the old, broken and obsolete First Covenant and one of the Testators needed to die to set free the other party. Yeshua died to set free those under the "first" Ketubah and established a "New" Ketubah that they could enter into freely.

Those who would add to that Blood an alleged sufficiency within adherence to the Mosaic Law, that is a sad state of affairs. It is presumed by our Torah-following friends that not following the Mosaic Law leads to lawlessness. I agree with them...but only to the extent that they are living in denial and restraint against God's Law that He writes upon the hearts of His true followers. Their lawlessness in trying obey the Mosaic Law is indeed lawlessness because they are guilty of it all due to their inability to live it perfectly.

Jesus changed the world! His presence on earth was the most significant happening ever. Messiah Jesus didn’t come be tacked on to the law for believers to start acting Jewish following centuries of Jewish tradition and law. By the time Hebrews was written the ramifications of what Messiah Jesus accomplished and the changes it meant were understood. That’s why words like obsolete in Hebrews can be used describing the Mt. Sinai covenant and how we can equate “fulfill” and “all is accomplished” from Matthew 5 to obsolete. It’s not a bad thing it’s an awesome thing now being able to have a direct relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son and Holy Spirit. The vail of the holy of holies was split in half symbolic of splitting the sacrifice animals of covenants, foreshadowed by the parting of the Red Sea. Moses leads to Jesus and a New Covenant not the other way around.

It doesn't really make sense that the old covenant was renewed. If you read the scripture it said let it not said that the fathers have eaten sour grapes and set the children's teeth on edge. The children will no more have to pay for the sins of the father.
That is what in Jeremiah is saying in the new covenant. We are not under a renewed covenant where we have offer sacrifices of animals. That is why Jesus said once it is fulfilled it would pass away. He didn't say anything about it being renewed.

You really can't renew an old covenant in that sense. You renegotiate it , but that is it.
The different covenant was not a renewed covenant with house Israel, but different.
There was a woman at church who wanted to change their satellite provider because they raising their premiums.
So the lady manager told her she did need to do that , but they could renew their contract to make it cheaper. So they renewed their contract. It may have been in the contract that later on that their premiums would go up.
Jesus doesn't or didn't renew the old covenant, he changed it to a different covenant.

      I know these……why are misrepresenting them….. ?
      Let’s use the first one:
      Ecclesiastes 11:8
But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
For is [ a man lives ] many years,”let him rejoice” in the joy of the Torah; “and remember the days of darkness” - these are the bad days, “as they will be many.” The Torah the person studies in this world is vanity relative to the Torah of the messiah.
      Please read Iggeret HaGra 2.
      Shaarrei Teshuva 2:9
      Aramaic Targum(Ecclesiastes 11:8:8)
For if man lives many days in all of them he should rejoice and occupy himself with the Torah of ה. And let him remember the dark days of death and not sin. For many are the days which the deceased lie in the grave and it is appropriate for him to get judgment from the heavens for his life which he loved. All the time punishment will come on him for vanities he has done.
Don’t manipulate Jewish literature to purport Christianity and Jesit correct…..simply because you must understand our words..

This has come up in my preferences again and coincidentally has been an subject I was studying a week or two ago. The Lexical meanings of Hebrew words on this very topic, and it really seems to me that Hebrew Roots / Torahists are mostly going out of their way to read into the Bible "a renewed covenant". That specific terminology is used in a few places, maybe 8, but so many times the Bible seems to emphasize new, as in fresh, never been seen before etc. And I believe does this on purpose, because with the trials and tribulations it is good to have something better to look forward to, and I think that is part of God's nature, and the fact that as we come to know Hm in eternity we will gain more understanding of Him and more appreciation of Him and his infinite attributes and ways.

Hi, Eric! I'm not sure exactly why some teachers say that. Rob, I love your videos. Very informative. I am 67 years old and a sinner saved by His Grace. My family and I regularly join for worship on Sunday. While I never questioned it, with the push by Torahists, I do wonder about 2 of the 10 Commandments. I know they reflect our focus vertically- our relationship with God- and horizontally-our relationship with each other. Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy and Thou shalt not commit adultery. The Sabbath is on Friday at sunset till Saturday at sunset. As I understand it, after Jesus was killed, buried and resurrected, God dwells in us by the Holy Spirit and we worship Him everyday, yet we are not to forsake assembling with other believers. Some Torah followers define adultery only between a married woman and another man. A man, married or not, does not commit adultery as long as he takes care of the woman/women as he would a wife-thereby justifying polygamy. This is just wrong, but I'm not sure how to debate/argue the point. Thank you for your input.

I think it's important when talking with our Torah-observant friends not only that we approach the conversation prayerfully and in love, but also that we set our expectations appropriately. We shouldn't expect a sudden change of mind based on something we say. I've never seen that happen. Rather what we should look for in our conversations with them is exactly what you saw with your friend: an abrupt change of subject. That is a telltale sign that they have either seen the weakness of their argument or we have said something they had not previously considered.

Messianics today are some of the most enthusiastic supporters of "the 8th day" Typology of the Bible, which is the nemesis of Seventh Day Adventism, because the SDA believe Sunday worship is/ or will be "The Mark of the Beast" (due to revelations of Ellen White ). But my friend, really hates this typology (because it is based on later Judaism that he believes is more tainted and inferior), and generally does his best to undermine it when I'm talking to Adventists in a group setup to encourage folks to leave that church/cult.

I'm just starting to watch. The point I have been hitting lately is the lack of any real concrete historical evidence to back up these claims. All the stuff we see in the new testament epistles is about what I would call early Christianity, its's concerns are over how Communion is celebrated badly, sexual immorality in the Church, the nature of Baptism etc. If Messianic Judaism was true, you would think it would have caught some ancient historians eye. Since they like modern writers like write about interesting, unusual, even controversial topics. Not to mention, if this was all needed for our Faith you would think there would be some formal instruction on it in the New Testament context! Because people being people screw up, and often try to pervert something that is good and use it as an a opportunity for sin. And I got to say, if this was all true and the converted pagans were required to keep the Jewish Festivals, there would be some outrageous stuff going on in some corners of the world, where some folks would be wanting to these Jewish Festivals into Bacchanals, much like the Antinomian and heretical sects did in general with Christianity.

Amen. The battle between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant began in Acts chapter 15 and continues to the present time.
In 2 Cor. 3:6-8 Paul contrasts the two covenants and speaks of the ten commandments engraved on stone in the past tense. In Galatians 4:24-31 Paul speaks of the "two covenants" and instructs the Galatian believers to "cast out" the Sinai Covenant of "bondage".

@@Pverb623 Are you saying animal sacrifices were not required under the Torah?
      ======================
      New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by
husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)

No…they were not required…….but was a way to give a a visual for separating the animal nature inside yourself, of why you committed a sin….for not knowing better and making a mistake, that if you read more Torah, would not of committed…..(Animals have instincts , but are mindless beasts, Torah knowledge corrects this….
      Torah is also Mussar (Character)
This is why God says to improve:
      Jeremiah 7:3-7
Thus said HaShem , Master of Legions, God of Israel: Improve your ways and your deeds and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Do not trust in false statements that say, ‘The Sanctuary of HaShem, the Sanctuary of HaShem, the Sanctuary are they! Only if you truly improve your ways and your deeds; if you truly do justice between man and his fellow; do not oppress strangers, orphan, and widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place; and do not go after the gods of others, to your own harm - then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever.
Please give the verse where it says we must bring an animal sacrifice……..!!!
It always says “if” you bring……
Plus think…..where did the Hebrews just come from………?…..the place that idolized everything……(including the Lamb!!!!) Egypt
Leviticus 5 show specifically that if one cannot afford a lamb…..then doves…..if not…. Then flour……
Leviticus is for the laws for unintentional sins and guilt sin, continual offering and so on…..however, not willful sins……willful sins has always been only forgiven by prayer and fasting.(like how Nimveh was forgiven……no blood, no Jesit)
Leviticus 5:5 shows even in animal sacrifices, you still must give confession.
      Proverbs 28:13
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
This is a huge misconception of the Christians, which is interesting since when were Christians under the law….?
Why change something that wasn’t yours in the first place….. ?
Like the argument of having to be perfect to fulfill the Torah……completely false…..that is only a NT argument…..no verse in all of Tanakh that says we must be perfect.
      Psalms 50
The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.
8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
10 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11 I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
17 Seeing thou hatest instruction, and casteth my words behind thee.
18 When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
Psalms 5151 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

The covenant wasn't faulty, the people were. "God found fault with the people...because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them," (Heb. 8:8-9) Israel broke the covenant. About 600 years before Christ, the prophet Jeremiah announced what God had declared: "I will make a new covenant...not like the covenant that I made with [Israel] on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, *my covenant that they broke,* though I was their husband, declares the Lord." Evidently the word NEW may be used for something OLD. See 1 John 2:7-8. The concept of writing the law on the heart was an old one. See Deut. 30:6. The words are "not according to the covenant...when they broke my covenant" This does not specify different precepts. It only specifies that laws of condemnation will not need to be applied. And finally, Paul's message in Romans 10 is based on Deut. 30.

I enjoy when we let scripture speak for itself.
    Mark 9:42-47
42 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me [i]to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life [j]maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to [k]hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched- 44 [l]where
    ‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into [m]hell, [n]into the fire that shall never be quenched- 46 where
    ‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into [o]hell fire- 48 where
    ‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’
I don't need a PHD to know that the word "hell" is actually the word Gehenna (Valley of Hinnom/Tophet, read Jeremiah) which is a physical location just south of Jerusalem; not some mystical unknown place in the ether where people are burning in torment.
I don't need a PHD to know that rabbinical teaching style (what Jesus is doing) is when a rabbi quotes a specific passage in the OT to his audience who knows the sentence he is quoting and also the contents of the entire book and its chapter(s).
When Jesus speaks about the wicked being thrown into Gehenna, it is a physical location and it is a place in the future kingdom. How do we know? Go read the entire chapter of the quotation:
    Isaiah 66:22-24
“For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
24 “And they shall go forth and look
Upon the corpses of the men
    Who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm does not die,
And their fire is not quenched.
They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
Well look at that, the quote, "their worm does not die, and their fire is not quenched," AKA the place the wicked will be tossed, this IS IN THE FUTURE KINGDOM when people will be coming up throughout the year for the Sabbath and Feasts days to worship before Him, and when they leave Jerusalem, all the nations during the kingdom will pass by the valley and look upon the corpses of those who transgressed against God.
Where else do we see keeping of the Sabbath and Feast days in the "New heavens and New earth", in the New Jerusalem (Is 40-66, Zech, 14, Ez 37-48, Rev 21-22).
Do you honestly think that when John says:
    Rev 22:1-3
22 And he showed me a [a]pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
That he is just pulling this out of thin air; that this is something brand new that no one has ever heard of? John is just repeating what Ezekiel was already given:
    Ezekiel 47:1-12
12 Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.”[d]
    But wait there is more:
    Rev 21:1-4
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Already established in the OT pointing to the future kingdom:
    Ezekiel 37:27
27 My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28 The nations also will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.”
    Isaiah 25:6-9
    And in this mountain
The Lord of hosts will make for all people
A feast of [c]choice pieces (Feast of Tabernacles, the marriage super of the Lamb (Rev 19:9),
A feast of [d]wines on the lees,
Of fat things full of marrow,
Of well-refined wines on the lees.
7 And He will destroy on this mountain
The surface of the covering cast over all people,
And the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death forever (1 Corth 15:26, Rev 20:14),
    And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces (Rev 21:4, Is 65:17-19);
    The rebuke of His people
    He will take away from all the earth;
    For the Lord has spoken.
    Rev 22:12
12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the [f]Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Isaiah 62:11 (See also Isa 40:11)
11 Indeed the Lord has proclaimed
To the end of the world:
“Say to the daughter of Zion,
    ‘Surely your salvation is coming;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His [a]work before Him.’ ”
    Rev 22:16
16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
    Isaiah 11:1-10
11 There shall come forth a [a]Rod from the [b]stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall [c]grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
    Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him,
And His resting place shall be glorious.”
There is only ONE plan for both the Jew and the Greek:
    Galatians 3:16-29
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Gen 12-17, the promise land to which Abraham never even set his foot in, Acts 7:3)
The land inheritance promise was to
    Abraham and His Seed,
    Isaac and His Seed,
Jacob and His Seed, and that Seed is Christ, and if you're in Christ you're an HEIR to THAT PROMISE! Via the resurrection of the dead and being given access to the tree of life (Rev 2:7) in which Adam was kicked out least he eat and live forever (Gen 3:22).
    Matthew 8:11
11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
Sit down with the fathers where? In a fluffily place in outer space? NO! In the New Jerusalem, here on earth in the promise land.
    Genesis 13:14-15
14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are-northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your Seed forever.
    Genesis 15:18
18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying:
“To your Seed (Psalm 2) I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates-
    Isaiah 56
    Salvation for the Gentiles
    56 Thus says the Lord:
    “Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
    And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants-
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
    And holds fast My covenant-
7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
    Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations."
You don't think there will be symbolic sacrifices going on in the kingdom that points the nations to Christ as being the ultimate sacrifice? You're in for a rude awakening, read Ezekiel 44-45.
The Torah is not dead, it is not a bondage/yoke it has always been a light. The yoke/bondage is that in order to be justified before God and receive eternal life you must keep the Law (His commandments) perfectly, "A man who does them shall live by them". Christ removed the curse of the law (which is death), the yoke/bondage, SO THAT we may THROUGH FAITH be just before God and receive eternal life.
    Leviticus 18:5
5 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.
But that DOES NOT mean that the commands that the Son gave to Moses to give to His people that HE HIMSELF held when He became flesh, then magically disappears. Not hating your brother (Matt 5:21-26 ) and loving them already existed in the OT (Lev 19:15-18); Jesus wasn't giving anything brand spanking new, He was repeating what He already gave thousands of years before He became flesh (John 1:18). Jesus constantly rebuked the doctrines and traditions of men that were added to the commandments given to Moses; He never said the Law(the commandments) were empty, worthless, bondage, a yoke, etc.

Why did you write 72 Trillion pages? What is wrong with you?

@@billyhw5492 Is sharing information a bad thing? I cannot have long drawn out productive conversations via text format (in person or talking on phone with bibles out is different) as if having a dialogue, therefore sharing information like this is more productive for "food for thought" to which then someone can go look up and verify everything in the scriptures, and continue their study independently.
Trillion pages? For fun, I copied and pasted what I said in a word doc. It was 7 pages with all the unnecessary spacing due to formation transition. When I removed unnecessary spacing and removed all of the verse, it was one page.
So 6 pages of scripture and 1 page of comments; this is a lot? Mean while most Christians don't even read the NT (400 pages roughly) let alone the 1400 pages (roughly) that come before it.
      Avg bible 1800 pages:
      5 pages a day x 365 days a year= reading entire bible.
      What I wrote:
1846 words between what I wrote and bible verse / by average length to read 238 word per minute, so roughly 8 minutes give or take per individual.
God forbid I like sharing scripture so that people can connect the dots as they read incase they don't have a bible next to them to follow the argumentation. When is it ever a bad thing for people to read God's word?

I'm at a loss as to how to get across to you that the Hebrew language is not to simple as you seem to think. Relying only the weaknesses of English translations leads to error and misunderstanding. The Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew dictionary defines that contextual and grammatical use of "Torah", Strong's H8451, as "c. a body of prophetic (or sometimes perhaps priestly) teaching Isaiah 42:21, 24; Jeremiah 9:12; Jeremiah 16:11; in the heart Isaiah 51:7; Psalm 37:31; Psalm 40:9;"
Do you see that. The writer of that Psalm was indeed living under the Mosaic Law as the New Covenant had not yet been established by the coming of Christ, and His passing of the CUP of the New Covenant. Do you understand that?

@@harryabrahams2770 Then you don't know Ex 19:5? Israel was a peculiar people among the Gentile nations around her BECAUSE of the Mosaic Law. The Mosaic Law did not apply to the Gentiles, then, and it does not now. The idea that this verse and others like it must spell out Torah as to its meaning, even given the context, is something that may fool the uninformed and ignorant, but those who know how to read it for what it says, and to apply the contexts for what they speak of and are aimed at, we know better.

I wonder why MOST Israelites in the wilderness perished in their sins in the wilderness? They had every advantage. They dwelled in God's presence, protected & provided for supernaturally. They even had Moses, the author of the BOOK OF THE LAW, as their mediator & teacher. And they had GOOD INTENTIONS. With every advantage and the birthright of Jacob, why weren't they saved by THE LAW? Hebrew Roots people need to go back & read their first 5 chapters again about the breach of God's Covenant bc the Israelites in the Wilderness were unfaithful, hard hearted & stiff necked. They were unconverted & unfruitful. The Law could not save them. Nor the Pharisees in the time of Jesus. The Letter of the Law kills but the Spirit of Christ gives eternal life.

    • @TheBiblicalRoots

Well said! They perished in the wilderness not because they broke a Mosaic command, but because of their lack of faith in God. They did not believe Him! "Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your *unfaithfulness,* until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness" (Num 14:33).

@@TheBiblicalRoots HRM is so narrowly focused on the 1st five books of the Old Testament, I frankly don't understand how they misses the tragedy of those who failed to enter The Promise Land. That was God's ultimate TEST of Faith & most of Abraham (Isaac & Jacob's) Seed. (Descendants) utterly failed. Only a remnant made it to the Promise Land. We're supposed to learn from their failure. Only the Faithful overcame the Giants of Canaan bc they trusted in God to deliver on His promises.
