4:05 - 4:09 Mirabel has a similar problem to this in “Encanto”, to be quite honest. Her whole arc in that film is about her learning to understand her sisters and cousins as full and complete human beings instead of just seeing them as perfect godlike beings against whom she herself can never hope to compare.

A few days before watching this I lost my Grandmother to dimensia, a fight which she’d been fighting since 2020. And this video broke me. I haven’t seen this film in forever but your work with this video is phenomenal! Keep up the amazing work! ❤

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dementia is one of, if not the worst diseases on the planet. The fight against it is brutal because it drains everyone it comes in contact with. Thank you for the kind words, and I wish you nothing but the best as you work through the grieving process. Speaking from personal experience, it's extremely difficult, but it does get a little easier with each passing day. 💕

Hot take: I think the key reason why “Coco”’s storyline works despite its convolutions is because, despite how complicated it all is, everything still arises out of believable character motivations and decision making, not just characters acting idiotically or impulsively just because the plot needs to be kept going.
