A few years back I saw Babymetal on the cover of Kerrang magazine and decided to check them out on youtube.....then youtube started sending recommendations for other Japanese bands.....and I quickly got caught in the rabbit hole and now I'm hooked.....bands like Mary's Blood have reawakened my interest in modern metal and rock....absolutely bloody amazing 🤘🤘🤘🤘
TH-cam recommended B-M Thrill, and I too went down the rabbit hole! Reawakened by the music coming from Japan!

Awesome version of a great song, possibly the best live version I've seen. Saki was on absolute fire on the solos, laying it all out there. Loved all the playful interactions between the members - between Saki and Yashiro, between Eye and Rio, Eye calling for the audience to scream for Saki and Mari. Just an all around amazing live performance!

I know.. Nemophila has been a little more than 2 years and has over 107K already.
@@radioraffa Timing and hype is the difference, it also doesn't hurt that Nemophila is softer than Mary's Blood. Nemophila's only had 2 years, but it's been getting attention from the onset. Mary's Blood didn't start getting really noticed until 4 years after Marionette - which is their most viewed video and most well known song. On the J-Metal/J-Rock momentum scale of the initial successful phase of the movement they got the tail-end of the hype share, overshadowed by the Band-Maids (now only 2nd to BABYMETAL in popularity) and LOVEBITES and ALDIOUS of the movement. Out of that initial successful wave of bands Mary's Blood was also the heaviest/rawest sounding of the bunch as odd as that may seem to say given that J-Metal is generally a lot brighter and more uplifting than Western Metal.
WOW! I'm generally a Smooth Jazz fan or other softer sounds but these ladies are a trip. They are totally crushing it. Saki does some serious shredding. How could anyone not love their performances. Guess I am a Heavy/Hard Rock or Metal fan. lol

In Japan they tend to be more reserved and respectful, which I like. Here in the US we often have to deal with disrespectful fans which is a real vibe killer.

It's not the size of a large walk in closet so it's not that small. Not the largest of the mid sized venues in Japan but it's not a small venue either.
It actually looks smaller than the places BABYMETAL started in. That's just a sad shame for a band this good that's been around for as long they have.
@@StarryStarryNocturne Babymetal basically rode in on Sakura Gakuin's name recognition plus all the money AMUSE was willing to spend. The idol industry and the regular music industry are very different so comparing the 2 isn't really a good comparison.
@@ckiemnstr345 Sorry, but you don't know your BABYMETAL history all that well. Amuse doubted the project at the start, agreed to Koba's proposal on limited terms, one music video, a song or two, less than a year to show promise or cancel the project and gave them the equivalent of a closet to record in not the proper studios their bigger pop acts like Perfume recorded their albums in. That's why their early concerts had a lot of cover songs to pad out of their set-list. No marketing budget, no costume/presentation budget, no Anime spring-boarding affiliation like they've done with their pop acts before. BABYMETAL did their first music video Doki Doki Morning and their first live performances wearing repurposed borrowed clothing and using cardboard props such as cardboard coffins for their entrances and a light show production that you'd find at any indie band's common club set. Not to mention using cheap (by music industry standards) common editing software that any TH-camr could use.
Their early marketing was just Koba himself pushing the band on TH-cam, using said common editing software. It was only after BABYMETAL started gaining steam through TH-cam and reactions to their live performances by audiences that they proved themselves as a property that could bring in profits that Amuse started putting all their financial muscle behind it. This came into it's greater full force after their Shibuya O-East concert which was their biggest venue at the time, which had a capacity of only 1,000 people, followed by their Akasaka Blitz concert which had a capacity of 1,300 - a venue that now unfortunately has been permanently closed down thanks to the COVID pandemic. Like or dislike the band, they earned their own success, it wasn't handed to them.
@@ckiemnstr345 I'd also like to point out that your remark of BABYMETAL riding on Sakura gakuin's name recognition is pretty funny, since the reality was the other way around. It as SG that gained recognition from BABYMETAL's success. A lot of people would have no clue what Sakura Gakuin was if not for BABYMETAL.
