You have enough of manual lens or is there any other reason to sell? I am actually dreaming of Sony FE 24-70 mm f/2.8 GM... but the price is just ridiculous...
I have only a native 24-105 F4 with autofocus, mostly because is weather sealed and it works decently for documentaries...but it has a modern boring look for videos. I've different sets of manual focus lenses in order of image quality: 1. Contax Zeiss 28 f2.8 + 50 f1.4 2. Mir 37b + Helios 44-2 3. Canon FD 24 f2.8 + 50 f1.8 + 70-210 f4 (this set will go on eBay soon) 4. Samyang 24 T1.5 that is too big for what it offers...when I travel every pound matter
The 24-70 is a great lens, but if you want to go with manual focus you'll be doomed by the fly by wire system...you should have a look at the 20 f1.8 Sony and 90mm macro, they have linear manual focus + autofocus
@@LucaBono.Studio Oh man! Such a collection! Amazing!! What about Samyang - yeah.. it is so heavy... I feel a pain in my arm when having it on steadycam 😅
When I switched to a whole Sony kit I sold my Rokinon (Samyang) lenses, and I miss them now. I shoot with mainly Tamron lenses and a couple Sigmas, and manual focus just isn't there. For most of my professional work, the autofocus is perfect, but for short films and creative projects I miss the precise manual focus and having that complete control, so I'm literally watching these videos slowly justifying to myself re-buying them.
Totally agree. Just the situations when you do not see the screen and where to focus is not pretty comfortable, so this is the biggest concern of manual lenses.
@@PavelSupanenka yeah it's not the easiest to work with and the panasonic g7 that I use always had horrible auto focus so went the manual route, that by no means I'm an expert lol such a fine art focus pulling
Beside the manual focusing, is there a substantial difference in image character, highlight roll off, focus fall off, flares with these cine ds lens or is it just a fancy rehousing of their photographic lens?
Hey, man! Yes, I actually made a separate video comparing it to my Sony 24mm F1.4. There I give several details side by side: th-cam.com/video/pRG1xReaifw/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much for ur sharing! I'm actually considering whether to buy it. After saw your share, I think I will buy it, the full set of Samyang Cine lens.
I switched from manual lenses on an old Sony nex6 for an a6600 and a 35mm af lens. Definitely had more fun and felt more artistic with the nex6 and manual lenses!
Off point but is that Dani Pedrosa in your video? Anyway I found your video as my son has been shooting some short films and always uses manual focus. He borrows my Canon 24mm 1.4 and 45mm 1.8 Tamron sp lenses for his C100, so was wondering is it worth getting the cine lens. Costs €250 secondhand in my region so excellent value if glass is good quality.
Thanks, Mark! Hm… can you give a timecode when you see Dani P.? I do not recall shooting him 😊 And yes, this lens is very solid and cinematic which however may give not as sharp image as other lenses offer at f1.4-2 values.
Hi there, I'm wondering how the lens has held up over those 5 years? How are the focus feel and aperture? I ask because I bought myself one for use on a manual film nikon (weird combo I know) and I'm a little bit worried about longevity. Thank you :)
Hey. I should say that nothing has changed since I’ve bought it. It is mostly metal, so no any minor damages. When it is very cold, the aperture ring is very tough to spin, however I believe it’s supposed to be like that due to physics. One thing I hate - lens cap, it is very loose and falls off in the bag.
Ahhhhh manual lenses! This organic feeling you cannot get with autofocus.. I admit, I like your quote about « being an art creator »... I use vintage lenses 28mm, 205mm mixed with a 50mm sigma Art
1:10 What camera & lens did you use to filming the scene when you talk to the camera in the room? Also what lens did you use to filming this scene 1:20 ?
Hi, Arun. Of course. This is a full frame lens, so obviously it will work normally + also with an APS-C mode on, as APS-C is just using part of the sensor.

I wouldn't consider using autofocus on any professional shoot. There's NOTHING worse than an autofocus hunting for focus and makes the whole shot seem unprofessional. Or it locks focus and is clearly NOT what the photographer intended. I actually quite like the natural breathing of manual focus, particularly in hand-held footage. To be a true artist with the camera, manually focusing is a must

Samyang 24 T1.5 (I'm trying to sell it, since forever), C/Y Zeiss 28 F2.8 (you should get one).
