    Thank you everyone for all the support! Please check out this quick message I made expressing my gratitude and also a better 1:1 comparison of the before and after: th-cam.com/video/eE0E9gqi_Rc/w-d-xo.html I wish I had edited it together the way it is in that video rather than changing aspect ratios and zooming in as I did in this one. More cool content soon! Cheers!

      Do you know where to find the unedited video of Jurassic Park, Avengers or other films? This means the video on which the green screen can still be seen or the actor still has the motion tracking suit on. I would be very happy about an answer.

    I find it so interesting that after all of this intensive work, it still doesn't look photoreal. And that's not to diss you, what you have shown here is truly informative. I think there's probably a lot of lighting, reflections, and colour grading that helps. Also how those materials look really flat here which I don't really understand, is that to do with resolutions, or is that all about grazing angles, getting the light to catch the bumps? But that just makes me think how for the films they have so many more specialised teams come together to make something look great. But thank you so much for sharing your expertise! Definitely a new subscriber.

    I’ve said this since Homecoming came out: I hope they remaster Civil War one day since understanding how the suit’s design translates when it’s physically made. He looked great in both FFH and NWH but the suit looked like it was made of different material and functioned differently even between scenes in Homecoming. Suspension of disbelief wants to just buy it’s the same suit in Civil War and Homecoming but they’re so completely off. I’m saying this because your work here looks like it should just be pasted right over the entire airport battle and ferry sequence.

    • @3dcharacterartist649
      @3dcharacterartist649  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most superhero films as they progress have slight variations to the suits even when they are supposed to be the same in the story. Toby’s suit changed, but you have to look closely to notice. Each movie makes new advancements, has new challenges etc. I love them all. Having a real suit does help even for reference, when I was doing this type of shot work for Ant-Man I was able to actually wear parts of the suit while I worked to see how it moved. Thanks so much for your kindness and for watching!

    • @calebcollinsmusic8407
      @calebcollinsmusic8407 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@3dcharacterartist649 totally. Not to be so jaded and dismiss the work of all the artists on Civil War but the difference between that and the rest of the appearances doesn’t need to be looked at closely to notice. It’s not a damnable offense because they were on a time crunch and the physical suit hadn’t been made. I would just appreciate them going back and fixing it like they did with some Star Wars VFX. With the evolution of Tobey’s suit across his trilogy, we know he had to restore it after each film from the damage of the final battles. Tom literally carries the Civil War suit up in a case at the beginning of Homecoming and it’s very different from how it looked before. It’s a nitpick but it always stood out to me, then the inconsistencies just within Homecoming where it went from picture-ready to full PS2.

    This was amazing, great job! Being completely out of the loop in everything 3D-related, I was amazed through every step of the process!
    I have a question that came to my mind after watching it, though. Tom Holland was wearing a motion capture suit in the original shot, and I've read something about some films doing a full body scan (using some device with many cameras) to help with the CGI process. Are those incorporated in the film? Like, could the scan be used to provide at least a first template for the model, and then use the motion trackers to have an alpha version of it in movement (obviously, to be fine-tuned later by actual VFX artists)? I appreciate you making the model from scratch and manually imposing it over the shot, and I understand how well it works as a demo, but I wonder if those work when you're working in the actual films.

    • @3dcharacterartist649
      @3dcharacterartist649  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a production, yes most likely they would scan the actor and then we would build a CG suit on top of that. From there most of the process is the same. You are correct the actor is wearing a mocap suit and if I had that data I’d have been able to use it to help with the animation. Not every shot works like that though and some use this very same process when that is the case. Thank you for watching, your good questions and for your support. Cheers!

    Honestly this is amazing work 👏 👏. Even as a test made for TH-cam is still really good.

    I really loved this so much, I feel like you'd get along with the guys a corridor crew. One of the things they do is dissecting how VFX shots are made. I really recommend checking them about. Also I love seeing how much work goes into these shots.

    If you did this in your home, imagine what you could do if Marvel hired you. The CGI in this character would be 100000000000 times better. Congratulations on this amazing job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
