This song comes on my playlist often times when I am doing something seemingly simple. I might be in my garage working on a lawn mower with my young kids riding bikes near me in my driveway. I might be driving my family home from a day trip or vacation. I look at my beautiful family and it fills my heart that they are mine. I asked my 6 y/o son if he likes this song when we were working on RC cars together in our garage and he said "Yes." I asked him why he liked it, thinking that he would remark about the singers voice, the guitar or something obvious in the song. He said, "It reminds me of you". I almost balled up and was so proud of him for his ability to emotionally connect and communicate that to me. I'm blessed to be their father and enjoy every minute knowing it will all fade away.

I think what he is conveying or describing is Mother Earth. Because we (humans) are connected to nature, and Earth, thats why he says "You and I are one together". And "Waking up to your eye" is referencing the sun at sunrise, is what I summarize. And since how humans are treating each other and the Earth, thats why he is saying "I know this won't last forever". At least thats what my take on it is, its a beautiful and deep song :)

my great aunt had cancer for 5 years and damn did she fight it. she was so sassy and I was sure that she would scare the cancer away! but I went to go visit other family this summer and I was right across the street from her and I should have spent more time with her but little did I know she would die soon. because I went back home ( 30 mins away) and my grandma got a call saying that she had passed away.
