Kev and I took a friend up to the Denniston mine site this morning. What a feat in its inception to do what they did!! Had us in awe at the sights of this incredible eigth wonder of the world!!! Now off to the museum😊
Jim Walker. I was also born in the Denniston Community Hospital in 1952, my dad was Bill Walker - the only butcher on Denniston. My grandfather was the bins manager at the top of the incline in the 1950s so as a small kid, I spent many hours there in his company. We left in the early 1960s. A great video about a fascinating place in the history of coal in New Zealand.
Good one guys! Me and FMZ, rustynz and Rebel98 all went there last week and I was keen to watch this video I knew you had produced. But you had some awesome weather. We on the other hand, had pouring rain, hailstones and it was freezing cold. The cache by the chimney has been replaced since your visit with one from the PWGT series. Always love the drone shots, and especially the old 1967 footage. Thanks for that!

That was pretty fascinating to watch! Your use of the old video footage helped me understand better what the Dennsiton Incline was and how it worked. Boy, I bet runaway carts were a scary, scary thing to witness! Times sure have changed! Thanks for the great informational video!

There is an old poem about Denniston written by someone who lived there. ‘Damn Denniston Damn the track Damn the way both there and back Damn the wind and damn the weather God damn Denniston altogether.’

Its about a 4 hour drive away. Picton is at the top of the South Island on the East Coast. Denniston is on the West Coast. Thanks for commenting glad you liked the tour.

Yes it was near perfect. Nearly no wind for the drone flight. I get very nervous flying the Mavic when its a bit windy.
