Andante et Allegro was the solo I had to learn for my All-State band audition back in High School. I don't think I could have memorized the entire solo. However, it was a challenge and a joy to learn!
My regiment for the past few weeks has been practice the piece, take a water break while listening to you, and then practing again. You are the model of my success.
i think it would be a great testament not only to the musical connection between you and your accompanist but his considerable technique to perform the hindemith sonata for trombone and piano. i feel like your tone is ideal for that kind of piece...especially in all the grandiose mid-register playing. i’d truly love to hear it.
Listening to this brings genuine tears to my eyes. The tone, the expression, the passion you put into the piece. Truly amazing. It would be stupid for me not to look up to you and your playing.
This is crazy!! I subscribed after watching your performance of "Romance", which was my solo for competition this year. "Andante et Allegro" was my solo last year!
8th grader trombone here from southeast Texas. Playing this is a young artists competition in January. This piece is super fun to play. Working on low range, which means I’m working on my higher range as well. I’m going against a peer who is playing Morceau Symphonique. Both are very beautiful pieces. I listen to this everyday to get familiar with the sound and emotion. Thanks for sharing!
Very well played. I know the piece since I‘ve played it myself at a competition for young musicians here in Germany. It‘s really great! Which trombone are you playing? Sounds wonderful...
i feel like i could play this so much better if i could get into my upper range (high g through b flat) but i can never do it without blatting 😔 this is such a good performance, though !!
@@aletheia874an exercise you can try is play a b flat, then get louder and louder until it just naturally changes partials. This is obviously not how high notes work entirely, but it’s that air support that you’re working on. Just think of using your ab muscles to push it out, instead of using your lips to force it.
I seriously have to play this in a few weeks. As a freshman in high school. I’m just a bit stressed and overwhelmed by it, but I’m sure I’ll do good. Or at least that’s what everyone hopes and expects of me.
Not really, the piece is pretty straight forward. Makes a good solo piece for intermediate players. Watch out for the ninetuplets in the beginning melody. If you aren't great with control, the partials in the allegro may mess you up. Take the allegro at slower speeds and build muscle memory before attempting faster speeds if the ending becomes an issue. Wish you the best of luck.
It makes me sad the fact that I wouldn't be able to even play this horribly mainly bc I'm only in 8th grade but going to all regions next week symphonic band
I'm going into 8th grade this Summer and I'm practicing this. It is definitely VERY difficult. I'm hoping to audition for all-state band with this in 10th grade. Keep practicing, and you'll get there eventually.
@@Marth8880 I personally find Lenthe's version of Andante painfully slow. The tempo marking is a quarter = 52 on my copy, and even this version is slower than that.
