Sounds like the engine was changed to a newer 4-cylinder model ? The original MK serie truck cab from the late 80's...in those days for 170 BHP output Daimler used 6-cylinder OM 366A or 360 but this truck here doesn't sound like that ??

Undoubtedly a 6-cylinder OM 352 A (168 BHP) or the later OM 366 A (170 BHP), know them and their sound well, a 4-cylinder would sound very different a idle - but there seems to be a hole in the exhaust, too!

@@franksteinmann6926 If i were to describe it, i'll say the in-line 6 sounds more smooth running especially when floored down while the in-line 4 in similar situation would sound more 'ruffled' i.e. less silky smooth with more concentration of low note sound compared to the 6 which the notes are higher...that's the case at least with almost all Mercedes-Benz engines i observed.
It's possible from the video here the microphone used was not very high end so the audio quality may sound somewhat misleading. So, yes i can agree OM352A is good possibility noting the time of the cab design although the 168 BHP figure is new to me...as all along i knew OM352 is 130 BHP while OM352A is 156 BHP...with usage in the context of the OH1316 bus-chassis of that era.

@@hseochin There were of course different versions of the OM 352A, this engine was most notably used (besides UNIMOG and MB-Trac) in medium-duty trucks and even in light military trucks like the 1017 A (issued to the German Bundeswehr from around 1978 to the late 1980ies, some still in service), model types were 1017, 1217, 1417, and 1617 introduced in 1975 to succeed the LP types (like LP 1113). Those had 124 KW/168 BHP. Then in 1984 a new series of light and medium duty trucks was introduced (LN2 or LK series), debuting new OM 364 and OM 366 engines, smallest type with an OM366 was the 814, then 817 with an OM366A (125 KW/170 BHP), and 1120 with OM366LA Intercooler and at first 147 KW/ 200 BHP, soon after 150 KW/204 BHP - around 1985 or maybe 1986, these new 366 engines were then adopted to the MK series with the bigger cab, replacing the OM352, and called C-Types to differentiate them. So an 1617 CAK would be an all-wheel-drive 16 ton dump truck with the new 366 engine (170BHP), whilst an 1617 AK would have the old 352 engine and 168 BHP - same goes for 1417 (C)AK and 1217 (C)AK. OM 366 is basically a further development of the OM 352, little more bore and stroke (5,6 to 6,0 liter), new cylinder heads, and there was even (around 1983) an OM362LA engine, an intercooled version of the OM352A with 5,6 liter and new cylinder head and 141KW/192 BHP, not to be confused with the big old OM 401 V6 9,6 liter engine of same 192 BHP, but naturally aspirated. They came as 1019, 1219, 1419, and 1619, with OM 401 until 1982, then OM362LA as an intermediate replacement. But OM352LA was soon replaced by the OM366LA, served as somewhat of a technical mule for a short period of time, until new 366 was ready - new types were 1220, 1420, 1620 and even 2220.
