I work at Target. Last week a lady walked past the guest service desk where I usually work. She was looking around and was on the phone with someone. She went over to the gift card section and was asking what kind the caller wanted. She took five Target store gift cards off the display. She was walking back and forth from the registers to guest service. I heard her ask the person on the phone where she should go to buy them. I guess they told her self-checkout but she said she didnt see a SCO (we don't have them at my store). I followed her as she made her way to one of the registers and stood back. She told the cashier she needed $500 on each of the cards. I immediately stepped up and asked what the cards were for. She stated exactly this scenario - drug trafficking. I had to practically BEG her not to buy the GCs (I was going to refuse the sale anyway) and kept telling her it was a scam. I called security and they came up. This entire time she is still on the phone telling the caller what i was telling her. She put it on speaker and the guy on the phone said we were lying to her! Thank goodness she finally agreed something was up. These people are disgusting.

This happened to my grandmother. She stayed on the phone with them until she got to a Safeway and they were able to talk her out of the purchase. People who stop that from happening to the elderly are fucking legends. Thank you!

Props to her. But the scary thing is these scams occur all the time. If they were not, they would've died long time ago, and no scammer would've thought of them if they were totally not worth the effort.
I'm glad she got a kick out of it. These people have made it nearly impossible to do my daily patient follow up calls. I introduce myself by name, pharmacy, and title and ask for the patient by their full legal name. Then tell them I need to speak with them regarding a Rx but when I ask for a DOB, again I've already explained it's a HIPPA thing, people freak and hang up. Then, a week later, they're yelling at me because their Rx is still held up... 🤦♀️ I'm glad people are being more cautious but really... test me with a bogus DOB if you have to but don't just hang up. Especially if you're an autofill patient.
Yeah, they're hunting for the lowest common denominator. People who have dementia or the like. My grandpa had a brain tumor and before he was diagnosed he got scammed out of thousands.

Just like the intro of this call when that nasally Fuckface is rambling off charges in my NAME, I can pick public humiliation with the newspapers posting my NAME, or private with my NAME kept out of things. And naturally, they don't know it.

@CV 4Life every time they call i keep telling them i have weirder and weirder vintage cars. they called for a chevy and i told them i drive a model T, Ford Pinto, I remember saying i drove the mystery van at one point(probably was high) haven't gotten a call in 3 years.
They hung up on me because I told them I was working on my car at the moment so I needed a claim filed. It wasn't expired yet according to them. I accept bitcoin or I would take google play cards just like they do when they scam people. I'm not sure why they hung up.

I got that call. It was HILARIOUS! I played along and asked them what I could do to make this all go away. That I'd let the lady keep the cash in one of the packages, as it was just a drop in the bucket to my total income. She panicked and hung up.
I am so grateful my elderly parents were on the ball and savy. They lived in SW florida and scammers would call every day. My dad would sit and wait for his next victim. Imagine my surprise and the scammers too, when he blasted an air horn into the phone! Thank you Kit for bringing awareness to these horrible predators. I watch you every day!

I was from Buffalo, but my gandprents who I never met worked in coal mines in Penssylvania, then he was thrilled to get a factory job in Buffalo but he died young from black lung disease.

Most self checkouts won’t let you but ANY GC’s. At least here in NEPA. Even for a $10 iTunes card I gotta go to a regular register. Walmart, target, all the grocery stores, etc up here don’t let you do it.
When I worked at Walmart you could buy gift cards at self check no problem. Up to 500 I think, but I honestly never tried lol

I work at a Publix (southeastern supermarket chain) and they actually do have notices put up in the break room to watch out for red flags in transactions that involve gift cards, in case they’re being used in scams like this

They are salaried employees , usually make 15-20 k rupees in a month (roughly 200-300 dollars per month), granted they know how to work or else it can start from even less , 100-150 for newbies. You can find even degree holders in the cubicles of these offices.
A Watchman in my building makes 10 k rupees a month.

I really appreciate your streams and videos. I work in a grocery store and having the knowledge from your videos, I stopped an older handicapped individual from being scammed just the other day. He was trying to buy google play cards for a grant. I informed him of your channel and you may have a new subscriber. It felt really good to stop one of these scams in its tracks.

Right or not, accents give off the wrong impression and this is the level of thick accent that could mean the listener might mishear something.
Yeah, there are many foreign born or 1st generation American people who are legitimate CBP officers and have noticeable accents, but they're unlikely to be working at some federal call center.

I got a call like that. They asked for my name. I was like wtf you CALLED ME, you should know who you are talking to. Then they hung up.
This call is best described as a hostage situation: "Sir, you're going to get in the car with your debit card and drive to an address I give you, OR ELSE."

If you want to waste some scammers time this one is fun. its still up an running. if you do a google search for 860-801-8191 it will come up as a technical support number listed on many MANY websites from Amazon prime support, to Canon Printer support, Microsoft 360 support, Acer Laptop support, AT&T DSL support, Comcast Internet support, oh they handle it all apparently. BUT first create a free phone number using TextNOW or Google Voice. I'm sure you know this but I'm just adding it for someone that might accidentally use their real number. when you call, They will ask you why you are calling . You can tell them anything from .I am unable to get my printer to work on my new computer.. , or I got a call about amazon overcharging me 500 and i am owed a refund. So whatever flavor of scam you want they will provide.

This is by far the most far-fetched worst attempt at a scam I've ever heard and I spent 10 years as a call center trainer out in Manila, Philippines and have heard my fair share of scam scripts.

The irony was lost on him.
