Jim, thank you for these guides, even though most of the comments below seems to be from haters. I learn from your videos and I'm sure that many others do too since lots of long-time players never learned to adjust their own guitars or basses!
I love this guy, master is a perfect word to describe him, he’s solid , an excellent communicator , and you can trust him over pretty much anyone else giving free explanations on guitar/bass work, thank you sir for doing what your doing and continue to do in these videos , and thank you Gibson. His Shirt says exactly what Gibson and him are doing , giving, I want that shirt lol super like every word and it’s amazing
Love this series. Great reminders and instruction for various skill levels. Really helps boost confidence on what could otherwise be intimidating tasks (for example, I was reluctant to adjust my truss rod for years.). Cheers!
Hey Jim, glad to see you back on Gibson TV. like ive said before im a Les Paul player since 1976 when i got my first one. that one was a Les Paul Standard tobacco burst ive got 6 more since then. this is a beautiful Bass. my question for you is , as the prices continue to climb on Gibson guitars and you show on your tours how everythng is done by hand, these guitars should ship in spec at every measurement for the price we pay. im sure this guitar is north of 3500.00. so why do they ship outa spec so much!! thanks for the answer in advance
Thanks for the video but I must add that it would be more helpful if you did this on a bass with a 3-point bridge since the most of us who have Gibson or Epiphone basses got those on em.
Will you make a video for us guitar guy's? After changing strings on my new Les Paul Classic, it's now a mess. I have three dead strings I didn't have before.
Videos like this would have been great to have many many years ago when i was first learning to play..and a year after that when i started to try and figure out how to properly set up and adjust my instruments . By the time i got my first Thunderbird in 2004 i could pretty much set up a Fender style bass without thinking about it. BUT in the nearly 20 years i have been playing Thunderbirds nobody has ever realy explained to me how to PROPERLY set up a gibson 3 point bridge .i figured it out the best i could thruogh hit or miss and baffled frustration. mostly im still baffled that has not improved the design ,or just co\mpletely chucked it. it is THE ONLY thing i dont like about thunderbirds. I can get things close but proper intonation (at least with 105 and larger E strings) is nearly impossible. so Please if not for me but for all the new Thunderbird players out there, and every player witha gibson the point bass bridge; make a Thunderbird Bass set up video.
Please make the Epiphone Rivoli bass in the Gibson USA factory. Or bring back your EB-3 basses from the late 50s, you could call them ES basses or something. PLEASE
Thanks for this video. One question: On your EB5 (2017 model), when adjusting the neck relief using the method demonstrated in this video, should I aim for 0.014" clearance at the 7th fret on the low B string or should it be a little more? Excellent bass guitar by the way.
action as low as possible neck straight as hell i dont have a heavy attack waiting for my eb5 wine red. with a new hip shot bridge. i would love that les paul bad ass bass guitar. !!!!!!!
Seem to recall these were in production for about 15-20 years in various forms and were both right and left hand. This looks like a 2012 model but they the best ones were around 2005 with a warwick style bridge. They pop up all the time and are awesome!
If you really want to get “out there”, create a new Victory Artist bass. Update the electronics, of course: it would be no shame to use EMG soapbars, or talk to Darkglass about creating a preamp. If done right … yowsa.
Gibson makes the most awkward fuckin basses😂 and I own an eb3. Seriously a LP bass? As if the bass guitar isn’t heavy enough, hey let’s add 5 more lbs to it. Just reissue the grabber and ripper already so we can have a decent heavy ass Gibson bass
what Gibson is doing with this TH-cam channel is awesome
glad to get my les paul standard directly from the garage and the guitar is SWEET.

For us Metric folks, 13/1000” is just over 0.30 mm. 5/64” is 2 mm.
I followed the instructions in this video and my SG bass is 8,000% better. Thank you, Mr. DeCola.

As always Clear Cheerful to the Point Presentation. Thanks Jim ☺

Hope to see again in Miami!!
BTW the most significant thing about
Wynwood/Midtown Miami is Gibson!
got me a gibson lpb-2 amber with bart pickups and bart preamp. maybe a new preamp. its a 93. and in great shape.
They should of did a video showing the property way to setup a Gibson 3 point bridge and used a bass still in production.
I have my 2014 SG bass, 120 anniversary 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Like to see a bass setup vid with a 3-point bridge.

Never knew there was such a thing as a Les Paul bass.
Any way to create a webpage on your site with all the provided information on it (and link to it?) Thanks,
thank bro
Where do I find a list of specs for bass (I have a 2014 SG.)
I hope Gibson make a new les paul bass again pleaseeee

I replace my Gibson 2 and 3 pointers with Hipshot bridges. The stock are garbage.
Bring back the EB-3!
EB-3. Jack Bruce model
Holy hell what a beautiful bass, I’m assuming these aren’t in production. Typical Gibson
The bass is on Reverb.
and NEVER as a left handed model - ever.
@@thekimwestradiocyclingshow692 learn to play righty or buy other products.

Zo een wil ik al heel lang hebben. Wel wat duur denk ik.
The Gibson Les Paul Bass is a good looking bass guitar but I like the EBO more better lol
👌🎸

Damn the creator of the Gibson 2 and 3 point bridge. Absolutely the worst.Univerally hated still Gibson refuses to adapt it to modern times.
“Gibson gives” more like “Gibson takes all your money” lol
Start to do a serious quality control I bought 2000€ guitar and not even the scale was correct…do u have monkeys in your factory or what?
