Wish I had learned this in my teens instead of in my fifties. Maintaining has always been a struggle, but the 'empty' space is the solution! Thank you so much!!
I really like the idea of the empty labeled containers so there is room to grow. And the Inbox concept is something I need to use. Thanks for these practical ideas.
I love your concept of having an inbox in multiple areas of your home. I've never thought of using that beyond paper organization. I would love a video expanding on how you use one throughout your home!
I’ve have lots of donation boxes in various rooms. I’ve never through of an inbox! I have managed to accumulate piles of ‘in bags’ and ‘Amazon boxes I haven’t unpacked yet.’
Laura, love your practicality. I think your process also sets a limit, which is something I need. I have this set aside space, so with empty bins I know I can grow, but as I add things, I am forcing myself to consciously add a new category or edit an existing one. I hope that makes space. I really like the in box idea. I am bad about coming in and setting shopping bags down and then forgetting them. Days later I see the bags and wonder, what is this? Kind of out of sight, out of mind, but an in box would “demand” attention. Thank you!
Love your videos . FYI the home edit by idesigns at the container store are 25% off I feel when you get something new you should quickly declutter that area . Also in boxes got me in trouble so no matter what I put things in their place or keep it like on a sink counter or my dresser where it’s visible so I can put it away . I do have a rule of keeping all flat surfaces clutter free and with minimal functional stuff on it like a night light . I also try not to have much decor for easier cleaning . Key word is try as from time to time I do get a little messy
I also have that issue. Whenever I am cleaning for a party or something and put stuff in a basket (“inbox”) to deal with later, it ends up sitting there for a very long time. Somehow once it is out of the way, it’s easier to ignore. So I put things away when I get home from shopping or at least before bed usually. I love the idea of empty bins and use them to put things when I am clearing the kitchen, but then I need to work on the follow through of re-emptying them.
@@kristijones1496 lol The struggle is real. I try to put things away when decluttering the room ( so on bathroom breaks or drink breaks ) I also try to put the donations in the trunk . Be aware of your e recycling center and goodwill type places . Some goodwills take e waste too . I try to do a declutter week in a room . So like one week everytime I go to the bathroom I clean up one drawer or section ( o-4 min ) this helps from the hours of decluttering. I Kon Maried 6 years ago and this has really helped . I used to have tons of shopping bags under the bed or closet . Now that I put things away immediately it’s so great.. if I don’t have time to put it away I don’t deserve or need it Good luck you are doing awesome
I’m sad that IKEA doesn’t make one of those kuggis bin sizes anymore. It’s the 3” one that can fit paper. They only have the tall version (6”) of that size and it’s too deep for what I need 😩
I didn't realize that - I thought I saw it there recently. But I do love that size. Bed Bath and Beyond has something VERY similar and they do have that size so try that.
I keep my empty boxes upside down. I can see them at a glance, and don’t have to change a label. And if one can’t tell the container is upside down, I write MT (empty) on a sticky note and label it.
Just curious, what happens to the labels on the empty containers when you put stuff in them? Do you have to add new ones, if so are the old ones hard to get off? This is a great video but I found it a bit distracting when it kept changing angles. I much prefer it when you’re looking at the camera.
It does look better when you label the empty bins. I like the idea of empty bins there.
You mentioned a key point that new things will come to our life again and again and never stop. So we should prepare for it. I never thought about it

I agree that more ideas for an inbox in various rooms would be good.

Great trick! Feels so new and fresh which happens very rarely in terms of organization. Thank you!
This is maybe out of context because your channel is not a welness channel but haven't you lost a lot of weight? Anyways, congrats, you looke great!
Aww...thanks!
I like and completely agree with your thinking on this.

You are welcome!! Let me know how it works for you!!
A very useful tip. The idea of having empty bins that are labeled "empty" for expansion space never occurred to me.

Did she say where she gets those containers? I like they are half size. Amazon? Container Store? Target?

The labels are beautiful! Do you use the Cricut Joy and what type and brand of labels do you use?
I do have a Cricut Joy, as well as a Silhouette. I love both of these machines and make labels on both of them.
Great ideas!
I do t think it’s strange at all. It’s good planning.

The labels are easy to peel off. So, yes, I change the label when I start using the bin for something. Thanks for asking!
Or you could just add a label on the opposite side and then when it's empty again, just turn it back around!
This is my goal, empty spaces!
