Billy was a great builder that paid the price for his bad judgement.Dale built one helluva museum for American made motorcycles dating back 120 yrs.and they all run! Rip legend!
He still is a great bike builder. Yes, made a bad decision, someone paid the price, he did his time, we’ve all done stupid stuff at one time or another, some more serious than someone else. That doesn’t negate his talent and skills
No doubt... I lived in Maggie Valley NC for 13 years. Just across the road and up Timberline Dr. Rode with Dale and many others on several Charity Ride's. He is truly missed. Matt and the family are doing a great job at carrying on what Dale built. So much history there at the museum. ✌️
Billy and Dale, you are both awesome builders. Thumbs up to both of you. With all due respect, there were never any 4-cylinder board track racers that I know of. Wish I could find a motor like that . A very lucky find!
i took my 1917 henderson to my machine shop yesterday, today i will start to take it apart to ship the cases to oregon for a transmission. my engine was a ebay find also.these guys have the greatest jobs, working on old bikes. would like to visit with them sometime.
@daniel bean the bike rider he killed was also over the blood alcohol limit but yes so was billy. Billly knows he did wrong and served his time, him and the family are also on good terms. So do your research.
We were ridin thru to The Back of the Dragon and Indian reservation n wanted to see the museum but unfortunately they were closed at this time . Hopefully next time
@@craigcode7103 thank you very much. My son is a navy seal special forces. Am also was in the army myself. I was a mash unit nurse, it runs in my family.
The Henderson 4 Cylinder was Made in Detroit by Brothers William and Tom Henderson. This motor ended up in the Indian Line. The Plant was still in Detroit on Jefferson Ave., i used to pass it everyday on my way to Work. It's been knocked down for many years. A friend of mine has a Henderson Four still in the original shipping crate--Lucky Bastard!!! haha
wow....I'd love to even just see pictures of that motorcycle in the crate...that's amazing! I live in Wixom ,Michigan and ride my HD through Detroit quite a bit so can you explain to me where that used to be off Jefferson Ave? thanks alot ~JC👍✌
Hi Jaime, the Henderson my friend has in the crate is the engine/trans. He found it in the early 70's in a Detroit storage warehouse they were working out of. He inquired about it and bought it for 200 dollars---haha. The Henderson factory was at Brush and 268 E.Jefferson, right where the Ren Cen is now. The Corporate office was in Detroit on 1158 Cass, the footprint is still there, it's a parking lot! On Friday July 15 2016 in Wauseon,Ohio there will be Henderson Board Track's running at the 1/2 mile race. It is a LARGE AMCA National Meet. Look up bikedays.com. and get a pit pass ($25.00), i'm #63 in the Speedway Class. This event is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Well worth taking the day off, and its not that far either. Hopefully You can make it. P.s. Dale Walksler will be at Wauseon also, running a vintage HD Board Track! Also, Wauseon Weather looks good for that day--low 80's.
Denny Mcfastlane wow that's some awesome Info and I really appreciate you getting back with me! I'm sure your familiar with Todd from Hunting Harley's dot com well I know he got a last minute ticket and if I could make it I would love to ride down there, I absolutely love any and all motorcycle history especially HD, board trackers or any of the more popular name brands etc....I've always had a big interested in Henderson and how reliable they are I mean when your motorcycle days were done guys would still use the engine to put in small planes o run equipment around the farm/home.... amazing stuff ') anyhow thanks again for the info I appreciate it and good luck on the track I'll definitely be looking for you either through one of Todd's videos or hopefully in person 👍✌~Jaime
It's hard to believe but Billy's bike and maybe the other bikes of the time didn't have any valve covers on the engine. How did they oil the valves like you would on a over head valve engine?
PCcopeland It's a total loss oil system, no return passages from the top end. The oil running down the outside of the motor helped to preserve quite a few engines from that era.
I know it's not made for comfort but that thing looks really uncomfortable to drive if you have to lean like that my back would hurt after getting off, probably arms, an maybe my bottom would too. It's badass though no doubt.
doesgodcareanymore "arsewipe" the fucc haha....hella of a white boy man. Better recognize motherfuccer. An quicc to punk. Gonna learn something one of these if you keep talking like that
Probably filmed before they drained the excess oil. The sequence of shots isnt always how they happen. I've seen "rides" where t-shirts change color, bike is dirty first, clean later, all kinds of stuff.
Maybe someday someone can rescue that engine from the gumba whack prison that now holds it. Its a god damn crime pimping such a regal engine out like that.
He lost it for life in either Florida or Virginia so realistically he just needs to buy some property in another state and he can say he “lives there” more than 51% of the year in order to get a license there and not have to give it up when “visiting”. Also he could just be saying fuck it and driving/riding without a license again the same thing that happened when he got drunk and got a DUI and murdered a poor guy. What’s really fucking retarded is that the reason he got his license suspended in the first place is because he got a fucking DUI. So he didn’t learn his lesson the first time and some dude lost his life because Billy is a fucking selfish douchebag.
i hate the fact that he cut his hair and i dont care if he did it cause there he is in and out of the court room he dont look the same he looks to clean cut to be a bike builder.

Dale left a great “Motherland” for us all and Matt can take It to the next level!
Dale Walksler. .... Thank you for everything you do! Watching you on Velocity,Utube and History Channel is always a great time. To you I bow down!
If you've never been to Dale's museum you're missing out. He always has time to talk bikes. Very nice man.
No doubt...

There was a time when Discovery Channel was cool
I hear ya, I know things were scripted but it was better than anything on tv now.
Billy and Dale, you are both awesome builders. Thumbs up to both of you.

Billy Lane is a hell of a bike builder and designer...
@daniel bean the bike rider he killed was also over the blood alcohol limit but yes so was billy. Billly knows he did wrong and served his time, him and the family are also on good terms. So do your research.
@daniel bean also the man hit was over the limit and riding with no lights he did him time and changed his life
so it's ok if the guy he killed was also drunk?
Long live our legends!
thats pretty awesome ,, hopefully one day i could take a ride up and check it out 👍

now for a real comment from me... why was it smokin so much? just out of adjustment or still burnin oil?
Not a fan of the design but can appreciate the hard work and talent
Sick wicked 👌 😎

Cool!
why was it smokin so much? jaratt85 so you know it, the bike is from 1917
Is it normal for that bike to smoke like a cigar going down the road?
Probably filmed before they drained the excess oil. The sequence of shots isnt always how they happen. I've seen "rides" where t-shirts change color, bike is dirty first, clean later, all kinds of stuff.
Please hire another cameraman next time. The bike is awesome.

I think Dale would lose his balance if that cigar was not clamped between his teeth :D-
He cut his hair off for court before getting sentenced !
What the hell....DID BILLY ESCAPE ????
Billy who?
I thought Lane lost his driver’s license for life?
