This video is one of the most informative videos I’ve seen of the Bib! Thank you!! 🙏🏽What an incredible series and beautifully done ❤️ You should be incredibly proud 👏🏽
This video is just terrific . I walked the track about eight years ago. I am a member and donate to this wonderful walk. I may do it again! Best to all who!!
Ive been watching many journeys along the Bibbulmun Track and really hope to one day take my own journey along there as well. So proud of you doing such a large stretch on your own. Positive vibes x
I've just stumbled on your series as I do some research for my own hike....and guess what, I remember you and Steve! I was one of the Paramedics that helped to get Steve out and down to hospital. Nice to see him smiling in this video and great to hear it didnt derail your hike too much. I look forward to watching the rest of the series :D
Oh wow. Thanks so much for your help that day! It turned out to be a severely infected gallbladder with a one inch stone stuck in the tube. We were looked after so well by everyone and really appreciate it :) . I hope you enjoy the series and, more importantly, your hike. Feel free to hit us up with any questions.
Caroline, thanks so much for making these videos. I started watching them early last year before commencing our sectional end-to-end, and would dip back into your series as each episode was uploaded. Over the months we'd add more and more sections to our walk until we finally completed the entire length earlier this year. Now, I still enjoy dipping into your docos to remind me of the various sections of the track, and how fabulous our Bib Walk was. It brings back with such clarity the beauty of the Bib. Many thanks.
Hi Caroline, just watching your videos while in lockdown in Sydney. Really enjoying them. I love your honesty too. Keep up the great work. Hopefully might see you out in nature sometime :)
Thanks so much for doing (and documenting) this amazing trek. It's put the track firmly on my 'to do' list! Can't wait to watch the next episodes now. And massive props to you for carrying on when so many would have quit after Steve was struck down in his prime!
Thanks for keeping the dream alive! My autumn E2E has been postponed this year with this year with this plague. Will now get to it in Spring. But in the meantime I get to live the track vicariously.
Thanks Mick, best of luck prepping for spring. In fact, it's a silver lining because you will experience all the wildflowers blooming their incredible colours - the perfect time.
Great work. That old shirtless guy at the camp making the fire reminded me of Harry Dean Stanton and last night I'd just watched the last movie he made called "Lucky", a beautiful movie. I look forward to the rest of the series, cheers. I was planning to walk the track some years back with my dad but he died, so I'm gunna do it in the next 2 or 3 years....
Fantastic job, Caroline! Can't wait for the rest of the next installment. I did an E2E in 2018 and absolutely loved it! Being locked down at home for almost three months now due to Covid-19, I've been binging on thru hiking vlogs and found yours. Hopefully, air travel will open up by September, and I'll be able to hike the Bibb Track again!
Awesome video. I’m about to do a small section of the track from Mundaring Weir Hotel to Waalegh Campsite. Staying overnight then walking back. Your video has me really excited! On to part 2!
Just wondering with this first episode if you had to skip from Helena to Mt Dale as I don’t recognise anything from around Waalegh and Beraking. I do hope you didn’t have to skip that section as those campsites have gorgeous views over the Helena Valley (and a couple of good hills...). Loving watching your walk and the memories it brings back of my own end to end. Thanks for All your efforts and extra steps walked and gear carried so you could make it.
Awesome editing - well done. I'm hitting the track for the first time on an overnighter with my two young boys this weekend. Your vid just gave me more motivation!
Loved it! Go ahead and release the rest of the episodes already 😉 I should have left to film the Kokoda trail 2 days ago, so this episode came at the right time for my hiking fix. Encore.
Thank you Jerry! Damn, such a shame about postponing Kokoda, but good things come to those who wait ;) Glad that we’re able to provide some relief to keep you driven!
Can you please post a video about what you used on your trek. Food, camping gear, hiking gear, etc. I watched the whole series and left a like on every video :)
That's exciting! We found it important to prepare mentally that there will be bad days, and that's ok. It's all part of the experience. Walk at your own pace, don't feel you need to rush, and staying in town to relax and look around is worth it. Also, look after your feet. Thin toe socks under your hiking socks works wonders to avoid blisters. For any more tips or if you have any questions feel free to email greatwalksoftheworld@gmail.com
YT just recommended your channel... and I'm glad it did! I'm looking forward to following along on your adventures. This is one of my bucket-list hikes 👍. PS loved your intro, that was very slick!
I got lost on the very first bit too - it's very badly signed, and doesn't fill you with much confidence, does it. We've only made it as far as Brookton highway so far, but live in WA, so plenty of time yet...
Looking forward to watching this as it's been on my bucket list for a year or so. Also nice to see someone else using a Primus ETA lite stove, they are under rated here.
Oh no Steve! Can't believe the coincidence of us meeting on the Cape to Cape after messaging with Caroline when you were in midland hospital two years ago!
Oh, wow. No wonder the story was familiar to you. It was great meeting you both on the Cape to Cape. I hope the rest of the walk went well. The beaches were tough going but good cardio. :)
@@CarolineThomsen Oh yeah, got to say it was one of the best things I've done. I found your profile on the Bibb web page end-to-enders list 😎your descriptions were spot on perfect.
I know! If you miss that turnoff into the national park you'll circle all the way back to the road. Steve did this on his first trip and was very confused / embarrassed.
Thanks for this inspirational journey, I am new to hiking and really want to complete the Bibblumun, would you share where you posted things to, I see you collect packages in each town… hiw did you know how much to send, lol there is alot of planning for a newbie
Yes, walk the track. It's amazing and anyone can do it. We posted to our pre-booked accommodation, and contacted them as a courtesy. You can also send to some visitors centres. How much to send depends on what type of food you eat and how much you plan to buy in town (some towns have more than others, while some have nothing), and how many days each section will take. It does take a fair bit of planning to be prepared. Others just wing it. Best advice is to contact the Bibbulmun track foundation for their advice, or jump on the facebook pages.
Great Vid, brings back so many memories from 18years ago when i E2E. Cant wait to take my daughter onto the track and educate her about the ‘REAL’ world, hopefully she has your sense of adventure. But as shes only 6 mths old now thats a bit off haha bring on the next ep
Thank you Tom! So glad it’s bringing you back memories. Sounds like a father-daughter bonding experience is on the cards soon?! We met quite a few parent-kid duos... and speaking to them, was so beautiful to hear that walking the trail together brought them closer :)
Awesome video and great editing! I'm hoping to walk the Bibbulmun Track solo this year or next year, since my PCT plans got cancelled this year due to covid.
We came super close to committing to the Appalachian Trail this year, and would have been flying over just when all the borders were closing. Luckily we changed our plans. Such a shame about your PCT plans, but hope you enjoy the Bib.
Hi Caroline, thank you for providing real life, authentic warts and all videos. May I ask how many kgs your back pack is at the beginning of a multi day hike? And do you train between your hikes or just hope for the best? Cheers, Emma.
It was amazing, and addictive. We're already plotting to go back some day... Cameraman Steve has completed an end to end and a sectional end to end, and doing it in one go changes the experience a lot, because you really get deeply immersed in the lifestyle.
Your videos are the best fantastic I am a long-distance walker have done maybe half of the bibbulmun track and have done 4 camino's and others have watched many TH-cam walks yours is fantastic should be shown to young people in schools One question what's the name of your solar system ? And where to get it and how heavy was your pack?
Im looking to do this section of the track just to dip my toes in on the Bib, except i budgeted it at 5 days of hiking, double hutting everyday even with one or two triple huts. (aiming at 30km/day)
Thank you! This was a really tough walk with an unexpected ending.... Everyone asks about this hat! It's a North Face one I bought at a local camping story in Queenstown (NZ)! I lucked out with it, have used it for years now :)
Love watching your videos and well-done by the way also I have noticed your holding your walking pols wrong. I think you will find it more comfortable putting your hands up through the straps then down over the handle, or may be you just like it that way. Great video, thanks
Everyone holds them differently, depending on what works for them. There is no right or wrong but thank you for the suggestion. It's always useful to try new ways in case they work better.
I hope you get the chance. It's such a great journey. Our packs were heavier than normal due to film gear, but recommend you aim for a base weight (no food and water) of around 12 kg. Steve maxed out at 26kg at the start with enough food for Kala to Dwellingup and 8kg of film gear. The lighter the better, so try to trim off anything you won't absolutely need. You will also be able to shed some of the warmer clothes as you get further south, but it can still get chilly so not too much. One great trick is to send a 'bounce box' along the trail from town to town, so you don't have to carry all your in town supplies like toiletries and spare clothes. Just be wary of when the post office is closed in each town.
Yeah the plan was to pass it on the first day as most walkers do but a combination of looking at the wrong bus timetable, late shopping and Caroline's ankle injury meant we had to go easy on day 1 and just do a single hut.
i find the stone stacking phenomenon annoying because it is removing nature, like leaving litter (traces of humans) tourists do it all over europe, it is horrible

Wow Mt Cooke area was SPECTACULAR! Thanks for sharing. 💖
Thanks Kerri! Yes, walking through the giant boulders was something else. Have you been there?
I have not had the opportunity to go there. I rarely get out of Queensland to be honest.
haha love the little girl in this series. she is so cute and confident! love it haha
Caroline, you blow me away! I'm so in awe of you watching this. Totally inspired!
Awww thank you dear Emily! So glad you're liking it. Are you coming next time??! xxx

Great videography. Very watchable.
Love this show, a very authentic and honest account of what it must be like!
Thank you Kari! Glad you’re enjoying the realness. The trail does that...
Thanks for this amazing video! I enjoyed every second of it.
So enjoyable. Love a good trail vblog. Very inspiring.
Thank you Paul! Hope it’s inspiring you to get out on the trail yourself :)
I did this walk in 55 days. Its pretty amazing and if you get the time/chance doo it!! This brings back really cool memories

I liked you but after the F bomb at 33:16 I was in love. Subscribed.
Fk yeah!!!

It's a 65. It looks deceptively large because of its curved design.

We started around mid September.

my other packs , although new are so heavy and hurt my back
my heart sank when i on day 2 you only reached mundaring
