Just found your channel 7-7-2023. Really liking what I'm hearing, and seeing. It would be easy for you to just be the work of art you are, but art has depth: As do you. It's refreshing to hear intelligent analysis of film, especially criticism that is well-informed and thought-through, not reactionary or just singing praises like the mindless masses do. That you deal with depression, openly and head-on, is inspiring. Altogether, I think your channel has a new binger (and, like psychedelics, that's not a bad thing).
Just discovered your channel and I am, for the first time, binge watching film reviews. I love your perspective, the breadth of your knowledge in cinema, and the selection of films you choose to watch and review. Some movies I'd love to hear your thoughts on if you haven't seen them already: - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - The World's Fastest Indian - Ida
OxbowisaMstie no, I didn’t mean to say you did. I just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t. Cause PTA is easily one of the best directors working today, and Anima was the first thing I saw by him. Had no idea who he was at the time
Apart from 3 songs, mid to late 80s, very , very mediocre American 70s post punk music ( not enough of that, is there?). Really can't understand why so highly rated - perhaps he gave hike to music journalists in the 70s who thought, ' Well if he can..'.
@@jaysterling26 many excellent songs by Tom Petty from the 70's to early 80's alone; American Girl; Everything That's Rock and Roll; The Wild One Forever; Breakdown; I Need to Know; Listen to Her Heart; Here Comes My Girl; Don't Do Me like That; The Waiting; A Woman in Love; King's Road . . . Also you misclassify him as POST punk since his band pre-dated punk. It's just straight up rock and Roll. .. . I mean, who do you consider great from that era??
Have you reviewed yet any of Warner Harzog's oeuvre , & listened to the soundtracks? Your channel just appeared on my feed. Apart from your insight do you have any other credentials on your C.V.for film e.g. film school, guerilla film making? Cheers.
From the horror classic the exorcist from 1973 Demon: What an excellent day for an exorcism. Father Karras: You would like that? Demon: Intensely. Father Karras: But wouldn't that drive you out of Regan? Demon: It would bring us together. Father Karras: You and Regan? Demon: You and us.😎
Are you a fan of Shostakovich? His symphonies are very deep in terms of theme. Nationalistic on the surface but rife with irony and criticism underneath.
Dear Deepfocus. I don't have a question more an observation. I'm drawn to bookshelves and books, I was having this strange disorientation watching a video of yours noticing a Watchmen comic visible on the shelf. It popped in me that the image of you in almost every video is mirrored or reversed. I hope not out of shame. I like books as much as films. And I like that you take interest in cinema that's not always comfortable or safe to everybody.
Damnit. If I knew you were doing another answering your fans questions I would’ve asked something. There’s something I’ve been wondering for a while now
Hi Maggie, I love Fred Astaire, but I prefer Gene Kelly. An American In Paris is brilliant. He has an elegant style that is difficult to duplicate. I'm 69, and I tend to live in that period of music So, I doubt that we will ever meet in a consensus in music. My favorites are Jefferson Airplane and Cat Stevens (See the Harold & Maude soundtrack).. But, if you want to hear a more current band that I love, check out Delta Rae. Their first album is incredible, Carry The Fire (2012). The next one was a disappointment to me. Yet, if you get great on 1 full album, that can be a good thing.
Hey do you think you could recommend some music all genres/subgenres/composers/artists etc.? Sorry this is probably annoying but I'm trying to diversify my music taste
Thanks for the recommendation for John Adams 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine' - blew me away.

I've been thinking Kendrick should act in film for years! Even in live performances, he's a great actor.
Thom Yorke would be a great actor. Very versatile.
You should check out his latest solo project, *Anima* . He filmed a beautiful music video that breaks into the genre of short film.
OxbowisaMstie that video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
@@ianbeach23 Indeed, i didn't mean to ascribe directing credits to Thom, my bad.

@@ianbeach23 I absolutely agree, it put him on the map for me as well.
About those impressions...
** Slips a bottle of tequila your way **
DFC is fucking awesome. Would love to hear her Bernie Sanders impression. Haha.
I think Maggie knows everything.
Ligeti - ramifications , Messiaen, Pierre Boulez
I am patiently awaiting a review of Commando (1985) by you. Soon?...
@Orwell's 1948 👌
Raw Deal
@Wytchfinde "You're a disease, and I'm the cure."
Irvkoddy classic movie much better than manos hands of fate 😎
Have you heard the Go album by Stomu Yamashta ?
Yeap, Philip Glass has some mind-blowing music that many people don't know
Youre wonderful!!!
I’ve noticed Maggie rarely talks about Charlie Chaplin, meant to ask a question about that, but didn’t ask it in time
If you haven’t yet discovered Arvo Part’s music, you might be intrigued.
was listening to that yesterday XD
deepfocuslens 🍿don’t watch pod people movie, singing in the rain one of the best musicals ever made
Ohh i remember I saw you long ago doing movie reviews. I was like she is so beautiful and then I subbed.
Pressure does suck.
Do you have an opinion on the music of Tom Petty?
He was a great one.

What are your thoughts on Adventure Time if you've seen the series and what's your favorite cartoon TV show?
You are so cool
You would be a great actress. Grettings from Honduras, you're the best!
"Fans" get fanatical. We call them fans and then expect unfulfilled prophecy.
Are you a fan of Shostakovich? His symphonies are very deep in terms of theme. Nationalistic on the surface but rife with irony and criticism underneath.
For sure, one of my all-time favs.
Second Waltz is the greatest.
Can you please review Once Upon a Time in America. (No expectations though 😅)

Fuck yes
deepfocuslens 🙂
Very interesting👍
Any movies you hate, but everyone loves?
And vice versa, any movies you love, but everyone hates?
Yay lsd
Liam Gallagher would be great in a Guy Ritchie movie
He's already trying to act a part.
I fancied you a Zappa person, though, he'd most verily come back from the dead, pissed, if ya called him a minimalist.
You're very pretty.
👏
Drugs suck...period
Wytchfinde you’re crazy I’m not crazy I don’t give a beep from night of the comet📼
I mean ur hot.
No way!?
