As a 2014 army, I never watched their mvs and thought “oh how cringey.” This was my shit. And still is. They were so good.
They were created to be a hip hop group. So of course the rap line took the forefront back then.
ohhh I wish the online concert video had better audio quality but still loved this video and the evolution! you should definitely watch the Armypedia performance when you get the chance. It's one of my favorites and they sing No More Dream, Just One Day, and I Like it. Not sure if you heard the last 2 yet but keep it in mind for the future!

This looks pretty cringy from the time perspective, but the story behind RM's sunglasses and j-hope's spiky mask for that matter is actually pretty sad if I'm not mistaken. If I remeber correctly, they were covering parts of their faces because haters used to mock them and call them ugly... It took some time for RM to finally drop the glasses :( He adresses the glasses and hairstyle being mocked in "Born Singer". That song hits hard every time.
that's not true. that was just their concept at the time, they wore those before they even officially debuted, i mean namjoon was wearing those sunglasses in his first log which was around 130107 or something (their debut being 130613) and they were even wearing those in their debut teaser photos (dating back to around 130604 if i remember correctly) and while yes namjoon did *heavily* struggle with his identity .. the hair, sunglasses, and spiky mask were all a part of their concept, the closest he has said about his appearance to what you're saying is quote "we'll wear these until they know our names (directors and staff)" but he said that regarding their names on their shirts back then, so please please don't spread misinformation army 💜 but i absolutely agree with the born singer thing and i'm so glad he takes the backlash from antis in power!! 💜

@@wetbutter8057 Thanks for sharing, but I do not entirely agree with the claim that it was "only their concept". Namjoon and Hobi received a lot of hate regarding their appearence at that time and they shared that directly and indirectly through their music and actions as well (Mang from BT21 was masked for a reason for many years). Yes, it was part of the concept, but not only that imo ✌️
@@magdalenaromanowska5534 you're right! they have shared the hate that they've gotten from that time! but the correlation with mang's mask and hobi's mask is just a theory/speculation that army have made! "The mask, as j-hope explains, is present to help the character successfully perform and dance without any anxiety or pressure to impress his audience" and "mang with the mask is a mang in it's own right so i want to show that side of mang but i also wanted to show a little bit of originality and add to everything there was" - jhope in BT21 inside MANG ep 02, so hobi has explained that mang does represent him in many ways like passionate dancing and performance anxiety and that taking the mask off was him being courageous and proud, basically growth and being himself now and such, but i truly apologize from the way you worded it made it seem like you were saying that was the only reason why so i apologize for the misunderstanding!! i think we were both right! :) 💜
