Hey Evan,
Why don't you weld some 'ears' on the manure fork and make the grapple of your grapple bucket swappable between the grapplebucket and the manure fork? Then you don't have to buy or weld a new grapple... As far as i could see there is pins with lockpins in the grapple allready...
Enjoying the video's!
Pigs look great nice shape. Great Turkey dinner have a great day.
Evan, I just got my pig back from the butcher today. He's now resting in my new upright freezer. He was 334 pounds; a bit bigger than I thought. They butchered it up and I got: chops, ribs, sausage, roasts, fat, and pork belly which I'll smoke after I make my smoker box. I've never done that before but all this has been a new experience for me and I'm loving it.
Just want to tell you that your videos are so well done, not boring at all. I love the way to move the camera around to show different angles even if the shot is only for a few seconds. I know it’s a lot of work but it makes all the difference. And Rebecca when you are behind the camera and filming Evan in the tractor, it’s excellent. Several of the other TH-camrs that we used to watch got tired of setting up their shots and the videos are too boring to watch anymore. Keep up the good work kids! 👌🏻
Love the way Rebecca looks at you when you’re talking. 🦞😉
Well turkey will be invited to Christmas dinner this year .
Merry Christmas to you and your family and happy new year
Merry Christmas, healthy and prosperous New Year to your family and followers
Most definitely the best homestead TH-cam channel around.
Great Video...Stay Warm and Happy Holidays !!! Take Care.....
The pigs have a good life. That heavy bush was totally dug up and the soil was turned over by the pigs. Little earth movers
🚍🚍🚜🚔🏎🚌🪀😄⚾
Stay safe and warm and have a very Merry Christmas🤶🌲🎆🐷❤
The first video I watched of yours was you putting in the windows of your deer blind and now I’m hooked on all your videos. Thanks for the entertainment ever since
Merry Christmas. I have really been enjoying your channel. Thank you
You will have to put an adjustable ring of welded wire fence around that tree. If its a maple(which i suspect) the bark has so e sweetness to it. They’ll girdle if if left unprotected.
Excellent video content.
It’s the best day when Evan post a video
Yes, for sure
Merry Christmas, you guys always bring great content, thank you.
You have so many neat things! I really like the loading ramp. The goats will chew bark it's part of their historic ancestry for winter forage. They are especially apt to do it if bored , sometimes if they need more fiber. In pen trees probably need protection. If you had waited to do the barn until after the freeze ,would have saved you the rutted up barn yard. The pigs would have liked the barn bedding in the trailer, to reuse it.
Great farm work!
You really need a Heavy Use Area Protection (Gravel Livestock Pad). They are great and easy to clean with no muddy mess.
Merry Christmas everyone
Merry Christmas to you too.
Very good work guys. That older compost is looking good, looks like it's getting close to being ready to spread. The barn looks much better now nice job. Glad that the trailer is in position, hope that all goes well with loading them. I'm sure it will.
Hope you guys are ready for the cold weather, it's going to be -2 here for a high on Thursday 🤦🤦🥶🥶. Thanks for the great video. See you next time.
I saw on a TH-cam video a young gentleman had a aggressive rooster 🐓 so he put him on the ground and forced his face in the dirt, showing the bird who was the dominant authority in the chicken yard was. He had no more problems from that mean rooster. I don't know but you may want to try that with the Tom turkey if you want to keep him. You just have to be tougher than the bird. Merry Christmas, best wishes for 2023.
I have done that before with a rooster, held him to the ground till he stopped fighting and gave up. it seemed to work. But I have done it to this turkey twice and he still is aggressive a few hours later.
Evan we love your videos. thanks for filming them. That grapple attachment worked great to move the old hay from that barn.
You guys are awesome. You compliment each other well
Merry Christmas 🎄
If you just stop thinking the grapple is just a grapple...
We use our grapple for light grading, collecting and moving..
through a tarp over the trailer and they will stay inside the trailer especially if it has a heat lamp
Another great video. You guys guys do such a good job. Keep it up. Love it.
I enjoy watching u two work together ! Take care of your backs guys or you’ll regret it later ! I wish I could still help my hubby ! ❤merry Christmas 🎄🎄
You should put a 4 in layer of wood chips in the space behind the Barn. Watch a video called the Eden Garden to see what he says about wood chips.❤❤❤❤
You two are cute together 😊 and Rebecca, I am 1,000% with you and the shovel as protection. I’ve had a couple aggressive roosters, I started with a shovel then a pitchfork. I Never hurt them or anything, but it helped deter a little. Little turds. Eventually they were dispatched and no roosters again ever. Also-I’m sad the cows are gone! 😢
When building a loading ramp, make it solid on the sides, pigs will move easier if they can only see forward
Yes, having solid sides is much better that's for sure. That ramp was in one of the old barns when they bought the property.
Agreed. Also, I would not allow anybody to be inside the trailer feeding the pigs in the dark with a flashlight. That’s dangerous.
My Dad got kicked by a Billy Goat when he was a kid. I remember this happening vividly. Back in the day, “setting” his back was a big deal.
Stay safe, my friend!
And it was never straight again….
If you're not aware of this already, you'll want to fence off that tree in the barnyard if you want it to survive. Once goats discover tree bark, they'll continue to gnaw on it. They'll eventually ring the tree and the exposed cambium layer will dry up and the tree will die. I watched a neighbor with a herd of goats let them peel the bark on a huge tree in their yard. They went completely around the tree , reaching as high as they could. Next spring, that huge tree was dead.
You two are fun to watch, I like the interaction with the pigs. I know how hard it is to work with animals as a whole, your doing great, just be safe and alert to the changing conditions, with weather and behavior. I accidentally was hit by a cow a few years ago while rolling out a round bale of hay and it threw me about 20 feet over the bale. She was hit by another cow and her hip hit me in the small of the back, wow did that hurt. Enjoyed the video, I hope you have a great week and a very Merry Christmas.
Nice video guys!
That manure fork just need some of your great skills to tweak it and make it effective but hey it worked moving those panels and hay bale. Have a great weekend.🤗🇿🇦
Yep, they'll go right into the trailer to eat food. Then on loading day, they'll just walk right in on their own. Easy as can be. That may be the only easy part. When I took my pig in, he had to climb up onto the loading ledge without a ramp. He totally surprised me how easy-going he was on butcher delivery day. Good work guys. Have a great Christmas. 👍🏽🤠 12/19/22
Love following you and Rachel! The pig's have gotten so big! Merry Christmas y'all!
Merry Christmas
Thank you for sharing.
As I suggested a year ago, you could have made a ramp into the back of the barn using all that broken concrete from the barn wall you tore down. It would pack in solid into the mud. Also, I think I would have tried spreading all that hay on top of the mud and drive over it with the tractor to pack it in. Sure couldn't hurt to try it to see if it improves the mud situation back there..
The mud problem will continue until they put some kind of concrete slab down.
That grapple bucket makes me jealous every time I see it lol what a handy piece of equipment! Wish my tractor had one. Glad to see you guys are doing well and freezer camp will be packed full!
Those pigs could have had a feast on that old hay. At the very least it was fodder. Guys I applaud you on your animal care and how you handle the chores, anyone who has ever had a farm knows how mundane it all can be. Again great video thanks for sharing.
The goats too!
Great Job Evan and Rebecca, maybe slow down just a little and enjoy everything for a little while and back to work when the pigs go to camp. Stay safe and enjoy the cold and maybe a white Christmas this year, Merry Christmas to all. Fred.
I love your channel!
I remember you using the marshmallows last year to get your pigs in the trailer. That is a neat trick.
Yep, I remember that to 😂😂😂
@@teenagefarmer I thought that was so cute. I know they say pigs eat anything, but they did surprise me how they went after those marshmallows. LOL.
@@margaretbedwell3211 yep, I didn't expect that to work the last time I saw it lol, it was pretty funny.
Do you think putting in drainage tile or gutters back there would help get rid of the mud
Why didn't you use old hay out of barn for trailer floor ??
Evan, Your hay scoop is good, but if you get some small pieces of metal and weld them in between the forks, it'll make it harder for the hay to fall through. or even get some expanded metal sheets and weld that to it. It may work better that way.
Love watching you guys..
Keep up the good work..
I'm still in search of a farm dog.
Please if anyone of your viewers know a reliable place please let me know..
Thank you guys for all of your videos..
does TYM offer a non-self-leveling loader for that size tractor if so, your manure fork would probably curl back farther and would work perfect. Cleaning out the barn like that a smaller TYM tractor would be nice with a 3pt landscape rake it would probably work good pulling the hay out to the grapple I always figure you can't have to many tractors if I could I would have one for every implement I have but my bank account won't allow for that maybe if I win the lottery some day
This is a self leveling loader
I didn’t know if they had non self leveling loader for a tractor that size
@dalewallace3812 self leveling loader is standard on this model. I see what you are saying now. I still think it wouldn't grab hay well at ground level. I should have built it differently.
Take the old hay left in the barn and spread it on the barnyard......it will help it dry up and pack down.......
Hey Evan I really enjoy your videos I don't know what public work you do but I know you work hard on your farm u can do anything you want to and I have learned alot from your channel I respect what you do and your wife is a big help to you both work well together I would have called her name but I don't know how to spell it anyway keep up the good work and God bless
Looking good. Pigs are rascals, but they are fun to keep.
Looks like if you would add some removable extensions on the bottom of your gravel hook. It would make a pretty good manure fork.
You should start putting some drain tile in that place where the steers were
I'd be interested to see what other "treasures" the pigs have rooted up!
Yes, they ha e uncovered a lot of trash.
Merry Christmas
Start a half dozen shoats in that shed and they’ll make good use of the hay that’s left. Check out Just a Few Acres.
You could take care of that Turkey with an old fashioned swing blade.
Time for Turkey freezer Camp! 🤣👍
Yep exactly
I would have spread the old hay out in the muddy area to help build up a better base in that part of the barnyard.
Find an old swimming pool ladder that you can put over the fence to climb over the fence. If you were closer, Oklahoma, I'd give you one.
You need a Skid -Steer
Evan maybe you can make a ladder to climb in and out of the pigs area.it can be of an a frame design with steps on both sides..just saying
Great video
The pigs are looking great ...
Your videos have really gotten good ..
Not sure who is doing your editing ,but they videos are really nice to watch 👍👍.
Merry Christmas
Stay safe & God bless
Yes, that's for sure. Evan is the one that does all the editing. He is really good at it.
Do they sell round bale feeders near you? Probably a real good investment. You could have fed 10 cows two or three days with what you put in the compost. Cows will eat marginal hay if given the opportunity. Enjoy your channel and really liked your fat cattle. You picked the right kind to feed out.
Question: why didn’t you spread the hay out over the mud & drive it into the ruts to try to make it like mud/hay concrete??
I think i see a homemade roller attachment for Tym in future🤔 big barrel you fill with water to flatten ruts behind barn
I sense a Fried Turkey for Christmas!!!
What kind is gate latch do you have ? Very nice
It is called a two way gate latch. I try to put them on everywhere. I love them.
Pigs are magic. They can turn cow manure into bacon! 🤤🥓🥓
Helth and Happy holidays to you and your family and freinds
Saw a video on hw a guy deals and trains his goats. He uses a squirt bottle with water, as well as associated noises with the actions he wants his goats to do.
Hey evan your fork is not much different then mine only they i see is theres not a good point on the tip of each spear, make it more like a spear so it goes into work your trying to pick up instead of pushing it
Its not the best designed much fork in the world like im sure you know, but in your defence, loose hay and unchopped straw has a tendency to carpet and becomes difficult to pick up without a grab as it just rolls over on itself. fun vid though!
Thx
Enjoyed
Cracked me up! I must be a pig cause i am eating marshmallows while i was watching this ...they are peppermint mini ones...think they would like them? LOL Merry Christmas Kids!
Maybe next time make a path for the Tym with some of the old hay?
Nice video Merry Christmas
16:40 is that a cultipacker I see behind the sicle bar
yes, it is an old cultipacker
I'm a big fan of TH-camr (Flair) and every turkey that bothers him does dissappear by the next episode 😂
How many times does Evan get home from work and find a trail of marsh mellows in the house lol
How much (like 2-gal, 5-gal buckets) and often do you feed your pigs please?
1- 5 gallon bucket a day
@@CountryViewAcres Thank you
Evan, May I ask why you have goats? I'm not a farmer, but I was just wondering why you would feed something and have something destroying your trees with no return at all.
The goats are Rebekah's pets.
In case Evan doesn't respond.
The reason is because they are Rebecca's pet's. She is the one that wants them.
Guys wash the live stock trailer out after hauling cattle or pigs will last longer.
The trailer has rubber mats covering the floor.
It still needs to be washed out. The mats trap the poo and it will rot the metal on the mat edges. Have to do that even with my horse trailers.
Just a thought but you might have given that hay to the pigs, when we had pigs they love hay.
Try some longer forks on your home made muck forks.
The pigs are funny. If you didn't want them to go into the trailer, you wouldn't be able to keep them out of it.
Exactly 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤣😂🤣😂
Did you ever get the left end of your shed to drain water?
We haven't tried to fix it yet.
Have you considered using your dump wagon for old hay next year? Might save you some diesel and ruts!
In my best Billy goat voice- “Chewy, you smell ba aa aa aa aa d…..😂
You need an electronic controller to open the gate lock!
I would use the wasted hay to cover up some of that muddy area.
Mr. Ton doesn't know how close to Christmas dinner he may be invited to. Sometime when they get to acting like a bully it is easier to eat them.
Rebekah do you have a headlamp you can wear so you do not need to carry a flashlight?
Yes -30 wind chill on Friday all of Illinois and Indiana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Freezer camp 😂. That’s awesome.
Mr Tom Turkey, coming up against someone maybe 10-20 times his size! We don't appreciate how fierceless others can be when needed.
Just our longer points on there
