    Phenomenally done! No confusion whatsoever, and I'm about to make it happen on my 04 545i.
    *God Bless You* 🙌 🙏

    Thank you very much, my steering was very harsh like every 180° turn, I just sprayed the coupler with anti-rust and sticky greasy in every steering angle and now it's as smooth as new.

    Dude take off the subframe brace and it's right there above the LCA. You don't need to lock the steering wheel. Just rotate it 90 degrees to get access to the other bolt and rotate it back when you're done. You're only going to break your airbag clock spring if you keep spinning the steering column. Not if you go 90 degrees one way then 90 degrees back.

    I have an e46 m3 and replaced this part and I still have play when the wheels in the centre section, just 5/10mm play and it’s still doing it after changing it. Think I’ll change the upper part further up towards the bulkhead.

      Thanks for the kind words Gerald! Our followers are all over there, it would be hard to gather people in one place, especially in Ohio. I could do a feeler post for California though when I get there, and see how many would actually come down to Diego and meet up.

    Hey I have 2006 bmw 325xi my car is hard to turn to the right and left but sometimes easy but when I turn the car and let go of the wheel it will keep turning instead of going back to straight would this be the same problem don’t really want to take it to a garage

    • @E39Source

      It could easily be this part, but you could have a bad steering rack or tie rods, too. You need to inspect the steering linkage.

    What method did you use to get the bottom piece back on the splines to the steering rack?

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of patience, a small hammer, and some grease.

    Great video. Couple of questions - if I grab the u joint when it's installed, should there be any play at all? If I pull it back and forth I have a ton of play. Should it be completely tight? Because My steering is way screwed up - I can move my steering wheel back and forth quite a bit until it catches and moves the rack. Is it from the u joint having play? Did I bust my clock spring?

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There shouldn't be very much play. Maybe a few mm in any direction, but that's it. Sounds like a bad u-joint to me.

    I have a 2005 BMW 325xi and the problem I am having is the car steering gets loose when I go above 60mph but at a stop or slow speed it's pretty stiff specially at a stop, will this fix the issue.
    I checked steering pump and tie robs they're ok.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It certainly could be this U-joint.

    Nice,great vid brother!! question: was the steering wheel pulling letf or right when u hit a bump another symptom of the coupler?

      No, I didn't notice that for me, but it definitely could happen in another situation.

      @@lucasschema6874 That sounds like bad ball joints or control arms to me, you should have a mechanic inspect the suspension for play.

    This can be easily done from the bottom of the car without removing the airbox and intake boots.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found it easier to access the one bolt from up top, but it would be do-able from the bottom as well.
