I agree totally, especially when Rossie, Rob Charles, Kev Seed and Ian Roberts were there

Rock FM is an amazing station - and one of the few stations that has kept it's proud preston and lancashire heritage over the years - it's still "Lancashire's Rock FM" unlike other stations that have just become boring and all the same name/style - even Key 103 has gone! Surprised it only started in 1990, I always thought it was going long before that, mind you in the 80's I think I tended to listen more to LW Radio Atlantic 252 - it was when I first started hearing Rock FM that I made the switch - Rock FM also helped me decide which University to go to - yeah I went to UCLAN - because it was in the town (now city) which was home to the mighty tower of power (although yeah I know the tower of power is actually in Bolton on Winter Hill!).
Over the years Rock FM have organised so many amazing things including Rock The Dancefloor compilations, Beach Party in Southport and a Party In The Park in Preston with the Spice Girls making their debut there.
And I was amazed once to visit the studios to grab some car stickers and I found it was in a church on the Preston ring road. It was an amazing studios to visit and just standing in reception was like omg I'm stood in the place where Paul Jordan, Simon Ross, and Rob Charles (actually wasn't it Rob or Simon who had a "stage name" for years and then one of the DJ's screwed up and used is real name on air and then he just changed name?) all belted out the hits from, the place where the non-stop top 20 came from - I can't believe the amount of times now whenever I hear the Janet Jackson song Fantasy - I expect to hear it go into "Hey chubs, there's a phone call for you" - 'cos I had that non-stop top 20 on tape and remember it went straight from Fantasy into Alice - very well mixed too.

back before 1990 it was Red Rose Radio, which was repackaged as two new stations in 1990 as Gold and Rock FM. AND IT WAS GOOD! I always remember ANOTHER FIVE IN A ROW!!!

Sadly the church (well the Church is there but Red Rose is not) is now gone and the station is networked 24/7 apart from a breakfast show that comes from Manchester

Love you true passion for the station. Let’s hope that like Key 103 Bauer don’t change the station to the Hits! The DJ who changed his name was JAMIE Moore but his real name on air was Brian.

Thanks Rob, yeah I knew it was one of them that changed his name! Now I know who it was thanks for the reply!
