I loved the movie.. so did i love the book (and its 80s sequel,,, there was one).. when i would play this game i would imagine i was inside GREEN LANTERN (HAL JORDAN),,,, because I had a serious crush on him in my junior high years and even earlier.. i would read comics with the same plot (those that would show inside,,,, a few comics didn't because of the bizarre things the comic code couldn't let writers show back then) and i always wanted them to do it to hal.. dunno why they never did... nowadays all i see when dc does this is the same character's insides,,, SUPERMAN.. I mean wtf this has been done way too many times and i don't find superman attractive,, , (yes i do find it sexual..)
I had this game on the Atari 8-bit computer. I'm amazed how good the 2600 version looks! Just about the same as the 8-bit version. And no flicker! Fantastic indeed.
Years back I stumbled across the Atari 400/800 version in a flea market, and got excited. I really liked the Atari 2600 version and was looking forward to playing a visually updated computer version. Nope, it's exactly the same as the Atari 2600 game. They ported over the 6502 machine code from the 2600 game, got it running on the Atari 400, and decided to call it a day. No visual tweaks, no new music, nothing. I hated when companies did this kind of thing - a few Activision games are like this, just Atari 2600 code ported over and minimally altered for the host machine. What a letdown.
Another great review. This was a favorite in my youth. I was blown away by the pause option. It was challenging but not too hard. I still have my original copy and I still play now and then.
Much more thought than the various comics where a character would shrink and travel inside of a body, but you DIDN'T SEE INSIDE....it was common in the early days of this trope because of the BIZARRE blacklist of things you couldn't show...whether or not they showed it depended on the context.....but it occasionally pops up in newer comics like the murder of Scorch (Doom Patrol, not the villain) in FOREVER EVIL.. Needless to say...I was not happy...until I remembered he was in HIGH SCHOOL.... could get in trouble for that xD
What I wouldn't get to go back in time to the 1980's, specifically the closeout tables at my mall's Kay*Bee toy store during the video game crash. Stuff like this and Frankenstein's Monster could be had for a song. I picked up some great deals, but not half as many as I could have!
Classic game.... I used to write about who we were inside.... I read a lot of comics with the same plot as a kid and this is why I love the human body so much....
This game and Worm War 1 were programed by the same guy. Both are great, somewhat underacknowledged River Raid-like game one the 2600. Worm War 1 also has two player!
I really wasn't interested in the 20th Century Fox games when they came out, if I even saw them in stores, and don't remember friends having them. I think I got this game as a hand-me-down, but don't play it. I don't know if it even works. TNSG currently ranks it 32/260.
For me, this is *definitely* a 'hidden gem'. Vastly underrated, IMO.
I like how accurate it was to the book/movie...

Am i the only who hears “ 🎶 Come alooong & ride on a..fantastic VOYAGE! 🎶 “ in their head when seeing this game?

River Raid meets Operation! Cool stuff. Somebody put a lot of thought into this one.

This is an RTFM game for sure. If you shoot everything, you kill the patient!
Adding it to my shopping list. Thanks!
Looks as good as the movie that it's based on!!
😄
Right on all counts. Great review.

One of my favorites as well!
By far my favorite 2600 game!
I don't think I have ever played this one. I though I had but do not recognize it. Looks great, going to pop it in sometime this week.
Yeah, I love this one too. Definitely underrated ! Probably second best 20C Fox game for me (after Turmoil) and in the top games on system.
Less slowdown than the SNES
Who do you pretend you're inside in the game? For me it's Hal Jordan from DC.
For me it was any of my comic book crushes.... especially Cyborg or Peter Parker.....
I have never come close to beating this game. I honestly didn't know there was a final level.

Agreed, great game, would make my top 20
Very nice game, one of the better ones on Atari 2600.
hidden gem! I very nice shooter!

Ah yes; another Atari game that can pause,.... EXCELLENNNNNNT
Gonna have to track a copy down now. ;)
