I wish QuickBooks was not discontinuing their POS. The reason I went with them and not Shopify originally was I did not want a cloud base POS and subscription to deal with. The main thing I really need is not a new POS but something that will let me keep taking card payments in store and if it can work with my QB POS 19. If not, I will have to look around, but they are making it hard for those of us that don't want a cloud service and an unnecessary subscription.

You nailed it. Just how I feel too. Sadly I'm not sure we CAN keep using the QB POS with someone else for CC's. Sounds to me like they will kill it off....and with it being proprietary all the time I'm doubting it will work. If so, though, let me know!!

Does your inventory & receiving system allow you to put receiving vouchers on hold like QB POS does so that an Inventory department can receive items, then Accounting department can come in with the invoice afterward and enter invoice #, bill date, ensure costing is correct, spread freight charges automatically, etc? Do you have a Sales order system that allows you to create quotes?

Wait is the desktop version discontinued? Or their credit card solution?

Desktop QBPOS is done processing. You can work with a processor to continue using POS if you need time to evaluation POS systems. There are wonderful POS systems out there like Net Suite and Retail Pro, but they cost a fortune. It would be nice if someone would get a hold of the QBPOS source code and run with it.
