Great unboxing! Thank you. I hadn’t seen some of the gun sprues. As for the bucket on the Tiger sprue, there’s a bucket on a famous research photo. The buckets were used to transfer heated radiator water from a running tank to a frozen tank in very cold conditions.

the M14/41 is not junk in Flames of War. I've won games using them - 6mg shots a turn is pretty handy. Don't forget the Italians have 90mm guns on Lancias and 88's for dealing with heavier tanks. The 47mm anti tank gun is actually quite handy. It counts as an infantry team, so can go in buildings and has a tactical move of 8, so can move round the side/rear of nearby tanks and shoot their weaker armour - also it starts in foxholes with bulletproof cover anyway. I've won games without infantry and artillery in an army, against people with infantry.

Oh for sure in the game with points systems, its probably decent... I was talking historically. I was thinking those light guns can fill the same role controlling home objectives.

@@ModellingforAdvantage I don't think the Italian tanks were originally designed for serious tank on tank combat - even the Sherman wasn't designed for fighting tanks specifically but inevitably, they all ended up fighting other tanks. I think for games like FoW, it's important to highlight the strengths of each unit and the Italian units do have some strengths as well as weaknesses. Give them a try if you haven't, they can be a fun army to use

I love it that they reworked North Africa and added a lot of products to the portfolio again, I only still miss the famous german Stugs, there were a few ... still more then some of the fantasy tanks they re released now ... the Italians are actually very strong in FoW

    • @ModellingforAdvantage

Yeah I can see the Italians working well in the game - points systems permit armies with 'cheap' equipment to swarm.

Great unboxing! Interesting point. You got all parts on the sprue to build both top segments for the tanks.

The Italians are a pretty cool army I got started with their card pack and a box of infantry waiting on Tobruk but damn it got sold out fast.
This is a really cool set and I can't wait to pick one up

Yeah - they are great value sets and nice models. If you are in the UK we have some of those sets in our online store: www.modellingforadvantage.co.uk/category/flames-of-war
If you are elsewhere the shipping will probably cost more than the box sadly...

Evidently the Italians had a 90mm gun that was very similar in performance characteristics to the German 88mm. It's neat to see companies like battlefront and warlord embrace this in different ways

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah the Itallians had a 90mm, but I was not sure this was suppoed to be that, rather than a borrowed 88.

@@ModellingforAdvantage either way it makes sense to me.They do offer the 90mm on the semovente assault guns. So there is a precedent either way as well from battlefront. Good stuff regardless guys!

They might not be good tanks, but they are sexy tanks! Especially the Semoventes. I've wanted to pick up that box but it's remained a bit above my price range.

I get the feeling they planned to replace all their metal with siocast, and then were not happy with the results, and it has caused long delays of some ranges.

At least they still got cards in them, decals aren't guaranteed in all sets either.
In my case I print most of my vehicles so the individual card sets are great for me.
