He's mostly a regular guy trying to make a living who gets constantly mocked at as a C-list villain, mostly for his stupid looking costume, despite having one of the better win/loss ratios against Spider-Man. Not that he's complaining, it keeps him under the radar from the likes of the Avengers and such.
People with good win ratio against Spider-Man are always mocked. Mysterio has several encounters with Peter where he either got away scott free or just won. But hacks still go 'fishbowl helmet haha'.

The "little pincers" make some sense since for real scorpions smaller pincers mean stronger and more deadly poison (since they do not need them to hold their prey still for venom to do its work) and since his main "gimmick" is his tail and what it can do, that would make him the more poisonous kind.

Man when I was younger playing the Spider-Man games and found out that he was stuck in the suit because of JJt; I never wanted to battle him, but more so just to get him the help he needed. Street level Spider-Man villains are one of my absolute favourite parts of the MCU because they provide a lot of depth and context to the rest of the universe. The original The Hood series is a great example of just how powerful heroes and villains are in comparison to regular everyday people.
