    YAAP seems to be great alternative. It's nearly bug free. To be fair, last week I bought Pixel 7 and after 2 hours of side by side compression I sent it back. OP7pro was so ahead of its time. Truly amazing!

      I still love the experience and feel of the OnePlus, but can't go back to the camera system after using the Pixel 7 Pro
      If you don't need the camera though, the OnePlus is absolutely an amazing device

    Thanks for posting this! Happy that I switched to Samsung now... Seeing how buggy OOS12 and most of the A13 custom ROMs are doesn't make me regret that decision... It's s shame though... Loved my OP7pro

      How are you finding OneUI compared to OxygenOS?

    • @maximusg88
      @maximusg88 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FilthyCasualTech Considering that OOS 12 broke my perfectly working OP7pro's 4g and Bluetooth - I take OneUI anytime :D At least OneUI is now receiving reliable and fast updates on a regular basis. Bloat is still there a bit - but reduced to a minimum and you can get rid of or disable most of it. Samsung is also a customization beast - so far, I'm really loving my S23 Ultra

      @@maximusg88 that's true, thanks to ADB debloater you can even uninstall the bloatware completely.

      I really do admire how far Samsung has come, I just wish they would stop pushing their bloat

    yaap would be the next flamingo transition

    Please also make a review of YAAP 13, it seems quite bug free and it is probably the only stable rom to stay with the oneplus 7 series.

      There are some bugs but after using it for 2 months, I can say that it is good enough as a daily driver. Though I haven't tried any other expect flamingo

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I do plan to try it out again
      When people talk about bugs, they often don't mention that OnePlus software isn't exactly bug free either - it's why I appreciate active development, as OxygenOS and FlamingoOS bugs will remain now

    • @robertm20
      @robertm20 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been watching their telegram channel in the last month or so and it seems that with the now latest release most of the bugs were fixed. For now I came back to OxygenOS 11 for about 2 months now and yes, it isnt very bug free either. It also does not have burn in protection and I've noticed the right side of the status bar starting to burn in, so I'm already convinced to switching just for it to not burn further, but I'd also want to see a battery review.

    Thanks for this final test of Flamingo. I'm going to try YAAP. I tried PIXEL EXPERIENCE on my redmi note 5 and works just great..no bug at all. I 'm curious about Pixel Plus UI or Derpfest and Evolution X roms...Perhaps could you try those ones on the OnePlus?

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of those aren't available for my 7T Pro unfortunately - but I do love how many ROMs are available and still being worked on!

    I am still on OOS 11, and not sure where to go from here, I love my 7TP but I hate the software, OOS12 is a pile of garbage.
    Flamingo is unfortunately also not really something to consider after watching your Video.
    Possible candidates could be Paranoid Android Topaz (just came out), Pixel Experience or maybe even linageos.
    Thing is I need something that just works but is close to stock android with the essential OnePlus features carried over, Camera is not that much of a problem if Gcam works, also safetyNet HAS to work since I use banking apps etc.
    If anyone has some suggestions or can report on the roms mentioned, please let me know!
    I'd love to go with a Pixel 7P but I can't let go of the uninterrupted screen

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would suggest giving YAAP a go
      They only support the 7 series, so you get OnePlus features integrated properly for the device

      @@FilthyCasualTech okay so I have decided I'll be trying to flash either yaap oder paranoid Android, I'll probably start with yaap though since I've seen a lot of recommendations in my latest searches for a good rom.
      I'll be using your video guide for flashing yaap (should be still the same process?) since it's been a while for me and the last phone I didn't some custom rom stuff was my OnePlus 5 which didn't have the problem of having a and b partitions, that kinda confuses me, but I've read if I install the same version of OOS11 via ota i should be fine.

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I can tell, it does look to be the same still
      Ensure you have OxygenOS 11 on both slots before installing
      Good luck, let me know how you find it

      @@FilthyCasualTechHey just a heads up, finally worked up the courage to install yaap, after sweating and trying to install it while staying up way too late I was able to get my phone running now. So far it's fine some minor bugs that I was able to work around, next I'll be reinstalling everything and then I'll report back a last final time.
      Hope this keeps my happy until the pixel 8 is released :D

    Have you ever checked the state of health of your battery? Would you recommend replacing the battery of the op7pro ? Accubattery estimates the SOH of my battery to 80%

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine's down to 85%
      I would replace it when you start to have issues making it though the day - 80 still is alright, especially with Warp Charge
      I always worry about getting a dodgy/fake battery, and losing what little dust/water resistance the device offers.
      Worth a swap if it was 50% - 60% as that would make a huge difference in my opinion

    I am on Flamingo 2.2 and I am experiencing more and more FPS drops with phone slowing down.
    How far do you think this could be related to the battery degradation (evolving towards the 70% now) ? Is there a way to mitigate this or do you know if Flamingo evaluates battery health to throttle CPU performances?
    Updating to 2.3 would be worth it ?

    • @FilthyCasualTech
      @FilthyCasualTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not something I've seen mentioned, even with people with worse battery health.
      When I encounter issues like that I would recommend a factory reset, and when restoring backups not to use transfer apps
      Androids cloud backups should be generally enough
