- Aai is the story of a sacrificing widow, mother, Sudha Patil. It is the story of all the sacrifices that a mother would undertake to raise her children.
After the death of her husband, Sudha has endured the hardships of life and raised her only son - Nivant Vilas Patil.
Over time, she managed to send Nivant to the US for his further studies. Not that she could afford it, but she wanted the best for her son.
After his graduation from NYU, Nivant settled in the USA and lives in New Jersey with his wife and two kids.
Sudha dotes on her son. She shows him off as her invaluable treasure.
On his recent trip back to India, Nivant sees that age has caught up with her, as she cannot manage herself too well on her own anymore and insists on taking Nivant back with him.
He suggests the idea of living together with her grandkids to Aai (Sudha). The plan is to settle back in the US.
Sudha however, is unsure about letting go of the house, which is a treasure-trove of memories for her. She has lived in this house for nearly 27 years now...
Nivant was just two years old when they purchased the house. Priya, her granddaughter, was born in the house. There are far too many memories attached to the house. Therefore, to let it all go is a bit much for Sudha.
Does Nivant convince Sudha to go to USA? Will she agree?

सबसे पहले तो मातपिता के ही संस्कार झलकेंगे बच्चों पे, उनकी कोई गलती नहीं समझती मैं, इतने कड़े, दिल तोड़ने वाले कदम कोई जिगर का टुकड़ा क्यूं उठाएगा, कभी नहीं।
मातपिता ने ही कुछ ऐसा किया होगावजो उन बच्चों को ऐसा निकृष्ट सुलूक करना पड़ता है।
भाई, पता नहीं क्यों मुझे बच्चों की गलती नजर नहीं आती। मेरे खुद के दो शादी शुदा बच्चे हैं।😮😮😮🙏🙏🙏
This may be old advise, but it is said that if you rob your elders of respect, money etc, one day God will make you realise that before you die. TIME may never heal a mother or father, but the pain and suffering a child will live through in the future, will leave nothing but repention, sickness, misery and regrets. Do you need to live your old lives like that? It is not until a person reaches middle ages when God makes you realise that. YES, 'Om my God!, there is a GOD.

I have, more than a decade back, heard of a real incident like this. Only that the son took the mother to Mumbai airport from South and left her. While the mother was terribly concerned about the son's safety (he had told her that he will use the rest room & get back) he had flown away. Fortunately a college mate of her son who worked in the airport happened to see her. Came up to greet her but realized what had happened. Just imagine the shock both of them especially the mother had. This young lady helped to get the mother back to her city in the south & got her admitted in an old age home. Even today when I think of this I can't sleep. I have always seen good, responsible sons and daughters, wherever they lived. So this could not be digested at all.

Gives the picture that most sons, especially those living abroad are irresponsible & wicked. It isn't so. I have heard that a man (he must have retired now) head of a renowned institution rejected lucrative job offers abroad just to be with his mother. Every day he had his lunch with his mother, the housing accommodation being within the Institution premises. In fact when another reputed, leading industrialist visited this institution he joined them for lunch: felt honored and delighted to.

@Nirmala Giri - This is a common question from viewer/audience perspective. Whereas from Film maker's point, it's different. From film making point of view, why always film has to show positivity. In that case, Hero shouldn't have died at the end of Titanic movie. Do you think Titanic could have been such a blockbuster if hero couldn't have died. There are many films with negative perspective / negative ending. "Pain' is one of the highest selling elements in film business. Film makers don't make film for charity, it's their business and mode of earning. However I can feel your angle too. Just thought to answer your question from my knowledge. Hope you would understand this logical part.
