If you want to really hide the onion but get all the flavor . When making things like meatballs , patties or loafs .. Take a few onions . Put them in the food processor make it like applesauce stick them in ice cube trays to freeze .. Then bag them and keep them in the freezer ... use as needed in what you are cooking . All the flavor , and you cant see em..
I do that for company green beans, the grandchildren claim their isn't onions as long as they CANT SEE THEM. So I hide the onions. And the ham chunks are big enough to see!😊
My Grandma grew up and the age of the depression. I remember her making poor man’s steak just like her mom my great grandma made in those times. Poor man’s steak was a half inch thick slice of cabbage. She would fry those for dinner.
Looked delicious. My late sister used to make those donuts out of canned biscuits. I think about her all the time. Asking Jesus to hug her for me up there. Miss her. That dinner was my kind of comfort food. ❤️
I feel like God allows us to sometimes feel the presence of our loved ones so we will know that they're just on the other side of glory and they're waiting on us to finish what we have to do. I am sorry for your loss . I do so love donuts like these in this video. I'm going to have to try and make some.
Just made this for dinner tonight as I had just about everything. The only thing I did different was, I had frozen hash browns and no regular potatoes so I just made some crispy hash browns in a pan and served it with those. My husband absolutely loved it! He said I need to make that again and even said he really liked it with the ground turkey! Thanks for the meal idea and I’m definitely adding this into my monthly rotation.
LOL! I was just thinking that if any of your sons want to visit my city (Cleveland OH), they would be welcome to stay with us as long as they say nice things about my cooking!
I think Brayden has a great future as a hype man! Seriously, for $10 that is a generous spread. Just goes to show that filling, nourishing meals don't have to be expensive!
I love when y'all do mystery meal boxes with your Aunt Vickie.... I need to check her channel and see if she's done the one you got her.... You have a great box to work with... Your meal looks delicious and I'm sure everyone will love it....I think you did fantastic as always I love Breydon's description of how great the meal was... He's was so serious.. no one could be at his comment... Lol 🙏🙏❤️❤️🥰🥰
Braeden has the BEST reactions every. single. time. he tries something you've made. I feel like I would like it after watching him, lol. Great job, Brooke! ❤
This was great!! I love the enthusiasm of Brayden and Dusty's chuckle I the background. He did totally sell it! But it looks like all of you enjoyed it! Those donuts have been a staple since u was in 8th grade...40 odd years now! I'm definitely going to try those steaks, though!
I love your suggestion to use flour as a binder in a pinch! I use oats sometimes and it works great for meatloaf and meatballs. I LOVE the mystery boxes!
Just came from Aunt Vickie's...how in the world did you get that many groceries for $10? You all need to have a shopping trip video for each other's groceries, too. I hope you two keep doing this. I love them!
If you’re short on time, you could cook the potatoes with skins on top of the green beans in pressure cooker. I love that you ended with fried bread, yum!
Yum! I use ground beef. I never would've thought to try turkey! I thought a very nice comfort food meal with dessert for only $10!!! You did great!(As always!!!) WTG!! Love these challenges, so fun!
Of course you can do something with this because you're an awesome cook! I watched your Aunts and she did a fantastic job! You gave her a lot of stuff!!! Of course you did an amazing job!!!!! I'm definitely making your recipe and your Aunts too. You are so wonderful!!!!!!!!❤
Brooke this idea is great ! Mystery box meal under 10 dollars is excellent! Hope you and Aunt Vickie do this again! Y’all are both wonderful ladies! Blessings!😊😊😊😊
My mom used to make this on the stovetop with gravy and onions. She called it hamburger steak. And when we did biscuit donuts we would put a hole in the middle to look like a doughnut.
Thanks Brooke. I live in Manhattan in NYC. All food is crazy expensive. I did the poor man's steak with what I had so it is very different "only soup was the same" but the idea came from your recipe. My dish was crazy inexpensive and delicious. If you want I will share the recipe with you.
I learn something new every time I watch Brooke. I have always made hamburger in gravy with onions but I have never added flour as a binder. I will definitely make this exact meal. I have not used ground turkey a lot but I need to make more using ground turkey. Now I will watch Aunt Vickie’s video.
I love these type of challenges. You both did really well. It shows that we can do what we need to when we have to spend at a thrifty rate. We can still put healthy tasty food on the table.
Great job!!! You and Aunt Vickie did amazing with those $10 ingredients! Keep those mystery videos coming, they're so much fun to see what you wind up with. Your kids are PRECIOUS...they LOVE your cooking and I just LOVE their reactions!
Jeez, looks so good Im gonna have to make this over the weekend. I have all the ingredients. Will probably add in some beefy onion soup mix for extra flavor and to darken the gravy. Amazing job Brooke. Love these collaborations with your aunt Vickie.
Loved the mystery box challenge, that gravy w steaks looks so yummy & rich! Aunt Vickie made a great dinner also! That was a perfect dinner, then dessert, yesss! Better than paying for a box of donuts, you can have them with tea or coffee in the morning, too! ❤
Those doughnuts are so creative! So was this whole meal! I bet your homemade orange sugar would be amazing on those doughnuts.😋 Also, I watched Aunt Vickie do her mystery box and she rocked it! I love how you both had a moment in your videos where you forgot to hit record.😂 Edited to correct a typo...
Wonderful dinner! You did a fabulous job. Everything looks delicious. Yum! Love 💕 from Debbie 🙋 and Dexter-Dog 🐕🐾 my sweet tiny Chihuahua companion living🏠a quiet crafty life in southern California. 🤟😎🌅☀️🏜️🏖️🧑🦽🌴
I think you and Aunt Vickie both did awesome! I think I will make that tonight for supper! You & your family are super sweet! Keep being our BESTIE!!! Love you guys so much! ❤
I watched both of the videos, you two are both so creative. I hope you do more of these challenges, they were fun to watch. I love both of your families too!
It looked like a delicious Sunday dinner already, but then Brayden's description definitely made me want a plate! What a fun idea for a challenge! Kind of like the show, Chopped, but with friendlier ingredients. 😅
Good job! The donuts are good with cinnamon in the sugar too! I used to make those for my kids 40 plus years ago, biscuits were 10 can for a dollar! I'll have to try those poor man's steak with ground turkey. Have a blessed evening!❤😊😊😊
A number of years ago I read a comment from someone who pointed out that there's not really any reason to cut the tips off of greenbeans, they're just an extension of the bean, so now I only snip off the stem ends. 🎉
Thank you so much. I enjoy your videos. You are realistic in your videos. I’m on a fixed income and need to be frugal. Thank you so much for your advice and videos.
This looks so good! We use ground turkey so much. I can't eat red meat due to my kidney disease. Thank you for this turkey burger recipe. I needed something new.
Shepards pie. I used to make that for dinner when my kids were little. I’d break up the biscuits put them on top of mashed potatoes over the meat veggies and soup(gravy) and it was outstanding
This is a meal I’ve made for years. Only difference is I add bacon grease to my green beans (and chopped onion) and lately I have added bacon grease to my mashed potatoes, but don’t use too much. A little goes a long way. Now I hope to watch what you gave your sister in her $10 Mystery Box. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
I can’t wait to make this for my Dad and brother when they come out from Iowa to where I live now, CA to help in my recovery from knee surgery. I don’t get to cook casseroles or anything I grew up on cuz my husband and son won’t eat it
You gals did a great job on this challenge! What fun! We need more of these mystery box challenges. I got tickled at Brayden. Longest comment he ever did make. I Can't believe the way he is growing. Love your family!

Aunt Vickey did an awesome job and hope you girls will keep this going for us seniors who do not have alot of money.
Just watched aunt Vickey make her meal. She did great too! This was a great idea with the mystery box. Do it again😀
Definitely!!
Brayden's future wife better be a great cook for that sweet young man!
I expect he'll love whatever she cooks but you've set the bar high Brooke!!
Those little one pound frozen turkey things are a lifesaver for budget meals!
You can grate your onion to hide it
You did a fantastic job cooking for 10.00 and it looked delicious. Thank you for your fitful ideas.Bless you and family. 😮😊❤

YUM! I love the boys' critiques 😂 If you ever want to use up your potato skins, we used to shallow fry them up and season them 😋
Awesome collaboration, aunt Vicky did a great job. Keep this one going it's a winner 🏆❤
Thank you
Try Cavender Seasoning in your green beans and with a roast to make pulled beef sandwiches
I love sitting on a shaded porch in a old wooden rocker and snapping beans and peas there's something so peaceful about it 😊
Love everything ❤ now I'm going to try making those donuts. Love your curtains by the way. The boys are precious. Just like their momma.
This was great!! I love the enthusiasm of Brayden and Dusty's chuckle I the background. He did totally sell it! But it looks like all of you enjoyed it! Those donuts have been a staple since u was in 8th grade...40 odd years now! I'm definitely going to try those steaks, though!
I love the smell of bacon and onion cooking together. That's my starter for my baked beans.
I love your suggestion to use flour as a binder in a pinch! I use oats sometimes and it works great for meatloaf and meatballs. I LOVE the mystery boxes!
❤❤❤What a fun challenge! Please make more of these. You are so creative. I would have never thought of that delicious 😋 looking meal.

Brooke that meal looks amazing! Love your channel. Can't beat southern cooking.
Mystery boxes I get them all the time from the food bank. Keep the ideas coming. Keep the collabs coming I love discovering new channels.
Worcestershire sauce or even a little soy sauce would really elevate the flavor. Great video
I too use a paring knife to peel potatoes. You did great with this challenge, everything looked so good.
If you’re short on time, you could cook the potatoes with skins on top of the green beans in pressure cooker. I love that you ended with fried bread, yum!

Beautiful family ❤ you are raising your children very well. Respectful kids
I use Worcestershire Sauce
to get rid of the turkey flavor. 😊

Mix your cream of mushroom with French onion to make a really yummy gravy
I love donuts like this! Those steaks looks so good!
you both did an awesome job yumm...
Looks yummy. It's amazing what can be done for $10.
To make the gravy even better, try using a can of Golden Mushroom soup---it adds so much extra flavor!
Love that bowl with the mushrooms on it and the green rim!
You did an awesome job kiddo!! God bless!! Yummmm🥰
Love these food challenges with you and aunt Vickie pls keep em coming 😊😀😃😄😁😘🥰😍❤

I love the mushroom bowl!! 😍. It’s so cute!
Brayden’s reactions to your meals are always so great. He and his dad have very similar facial expressions and head nods. Beautiful family.
Love the new curtains!
It all looks lush.
Loved the way that you made the biscuits.
Only difference, I would use cinnamon sugar👍🙏
Shepards pie. I used to make that for dinner when my kids were little. I’d break up the biscuits put them on top of mashed potatoes over the meat veggies and soup(gravy) and it was outstanding
Love this video. Was so fun picking each others items to use.
Fun videos! I watched them both. Great job, ladies!
