Hi just saw yr video on how to stitch stingray hide. Just would like your advice because I want to make a watch strap out of stingray, how to sew or stitch by hand. What size chisel is suitable. And should I chisel stingray side or the underside with the leather. Please advise much appreciated & thank you in advance 🙏
the chisel size will depend on the thread thickness you intend to use. thinner thread and a wide spacing looks 😒, bigger thread in small spacing looks crowded. i always chiseled stingray from the top. i’ve never had any issues with stitching that way.
@@JRenardLeatherCo Thank you for yr advice Mr. Renard. If can & if I'm successful in making it I'll send u some pictures to look at ya thanks again cheers
i’ve never heard of it. granted, i’ve never considered anything other than bonded nylon or linen thread either. i’ll look into Kevlar today. thanks for the tip.
i haven’t, but i also haven’t made anything with stingray that was so thick it required something longer than stitching chisels. also, all my drill bits are wider than my threads
Thanks a ton! I’ve had stingray for a while but haven’t used it because it’s so different, your videos were very helpful!
Thanks for the info!! I’m making sneakers and some of my panels are stingray, and I have had some issues. Definitely is tough to work with.
Great video. The tips will help a lot. Thanks for taking the time for telling about all the issues to expect.
Thanks for an excellent and informative video!
i’m glad i could provide some
insight. good luck with your stitching 👍
