Against Odds: Mai's VBAC

Midwife notes:
Mai, originally from Japan, is now married and settled in Kolkata. Every culture has its own communal way to bring babies, ceremonies, rituals & celebrations. Giving birth away from one's home country does not consider traditional values & innate knowledge that a woman may have embodied as a young girl.
And Mai was determined to not just birth her baby in India, but have a VBAC too.
As midwives, we connect very deeply with women who miss their cultural practices at such a vulnerable time of their lives. We mother these mothers, with much love & care. We learn more about their preferences & even desire for comfort food. This leads to happier mothers & better outcomes. And mothers who are prepared to raise their children with confidence.
