What a wonderful testimony from a very eloquent gentleman. Listening to him, you feel as if this is someone you would love to know. I am so glad Mr. Jacobs survived the Holocaust ordeal, and grateful for his story.
It’s beyond my comprehension to understand how a human being can inflict so much pain and suffering on another . I will never understand it .
And you can still hear some old german grandpas saying that Hitler was right and his plan was great… the problem was the way he executed it😳😵💫😑

I have been very moved by Mr. Jacobs testimony! My own mother and my father were born in Poland and Austria, but they were fortunate enough to leave Europe before the worst things happened. Having these testimonies is very important so the world will never forget what happened in the 1930's and the 1940's. How dare anyone deny these stories! When you hear the details from a survivor, it really sinks in that this is the truth.
I wish to thank the Shoah Foundation for recording these interesting and touching stories from the voices of the people who actually lived them. Soon all the people who lived through this dramatic time will be gone, but we need to always remember what happened. I appreciated being able to listen to Jacob talking about his life, also about the little everyday things he remembered from his childhood. I felt particularly touched hearing of his joy for being alive when he actually felt the water on his skin under the shower in the camp, and also when he felt he was being treated as a human being again finally in the hospital in Neustadt. Thank you to all survivors who gave witness of their stories and all volunteers and associations helping them to do it.
I'm also in agreement.. Thank God we have these testimonies.. I listen all the time.. Such lovely people. Such amazing families..

His story is the most incredible of all holocaust stories. I bought his book 'The Dentist of Auschwitz' and got permission to include his whole book in my 2008 book 'No Glory in War'. I was in touch with his wife for a while who thanked me and sent me another of his books to Australia. His horrifying experiences on the Cap Arcona brought back my encounter with that once magnificent luxury cruiser I managed to sneak on board as a child in 1943. Stories like his should never be forgotten. x

He is from my dads region in Poland. My dad was liberated in Gleiwitz in February 1945. God bless you both. My father was also whipped for an infraction and passed out.
Words cannot describe how sad I am to hear that you share this tragic experience as well. I cried a river when I heard how his father died because I was full of hope that he will survive as well since he got a better job.This world is insanely cruel place. My prayers goes to all people who had any part in this tragic story.🙏🏻🥺

Hello Ben, I think we worked together at one time. You were a manufacturer's representative from Brookline. MA. You had a place in Damariscotta, ME. I remember you because of your name Berek Jakubowicz. I remember asking you why you Americanized such a beautiful name. My son, Erik wrote a 16 page article about the Wanssee Conference. His article was published in the Concord Review, a quarterly publication of history essays of high school students.
He must have died by now , he was born in 1919
This video was filmed decades ago. I'm sorry but your friend is probably deceased by now given his advanced age.
Unfortunately he died in 2004.

I was listening to this while working until,after a couple hours, I suddenly realized that this guy has been describing life and death ordeals for HOURS,the likes of which I’ve never even experienced ONE. Just unbelievable!

May God bless you and thank you for the testimony. I am not a jew (but a Christian) however I am very impressed by hearing the amazing testimonies of the survivers. I feel that it hasn't been done enough for them though. German government should have supported them for their entire life for what they had to endure. And all the nazi allies. :'-( their tribulations are beyound words.

The Dentist of Auschwitz by Benjamin Jacobs: In 1941 Berek Jakubowicz (now Benjamin Jacobs) was deported from his Polish village and remained a prisoner of the Reich until the final days of the war. His possession of a few dental tools and rudimentary skills saved his life. Jacobs helped assemble V1 and V2 rockets in Buchenwald and Dora-Mittelbau; spent a year and a half in Auschwitz, where he was forced to remove gold teeth from corpses; and survived the RAF attack on three ocean liners turned prison camps in the Bay of Lubeck. This is his story.
I cannot imagine the mental emotional tortuous pain of being forced to remove gold teeth from the bodies of gassed fellow Jewish people. Such work is the infinity of spiritual pain. Soul crushing but his light pervailed.
I hope Zosia survived also somehow the Holocaust.
