The the M3 Grant was the mainstay of the Australian armoured forces during WWII. Until such time as you have the 3 Barn find M3's in running order, forget about the Sherman. This world doesn't need another running Sherman, honest.
there were a few hat had some issues, on Saturday when I was mid way thru a ride in the spartan quite allot of white smoke started coming out of the engine deck, not sure what it was but it was out of action for the rest of the weekend but it was replaced buy a sabre, so not too much difference and I think the M8 greyhound also had some mechanical problems but it was back for Sunday, but its not entirely unexpected some of the vehicles are so popular they are almost running non stop so things are bound to break eventually
We had planned this Father and Son trip for 4 years and we loved every minute. Such an unique museum where rare and valuable military vehicles are not just painted and polished up and put on static display, but kept in running condition, and driven through mud and dirt as they were designed - and then on top of that you also have the opportunity to actually ride onboard! Fabulous! An amazing museum and even more amazing event - it was well worth the trip over from Perth. Big thanks to Darryl, Jason, and the two twins - Phil and Nick who were all too happy to pause for a quick photo and chat. Best Regards to Jason and the team at Ausarmour. We will certainly be back Regards Brett and Riley. PS - that's us in Tiny Teddy at the 8:00 mark 🙂
My son and I had a ball !! we spent Friday and Saturday at the museum and even managed to get a ride on the Panzer 68 on the Saturday, what a fantastic show , we will definitely be back next year . Thank you so much to all the team at Aus Armour Museum
That was amazing... You can tell the sound of a T-34 with your eyes closed. Not because of the engine, but because of the Track-Pin Knocker next to the sprocket making that unmistakable 'clacking' sound.
I'd love to see a special episode going into a deep dive on that M36! There are not many videos of it on TH-cam, not even Bovington or the Chieftain have done an episode on it.
My best friend and myself made the trip up to Cairns and attended on Friday and Saturday! We were blown away with the number and variety of vehicles and pieces in the museum .The Panther is awesome! Thank you to all the staff , it was very well organized and everyone really friendly and helpful and even got to meet Bow.We will be coming back next year!
I'm coming next time, would love to see a AC Sentinel running. Have only seen them moved by other means or under their own steam in old AWM black and white shows. Love to see Sentinel Tank run 3 V8 Cadillac engines by Ford
Great video :). Silly as it sounds, perhaps a video on getting the tanks cleaned up again and any maintenance needed afterwards to keep them in museum condition might be interesting - just a thought
It’s a Sherman need I say more? Yes! Get that sherman up and running, would love to see a series on it. Thanks for giving us a virtual ride along in so many iconic tanks.
So glad you guys make these kind of videos for guys like me,who can't make it there due to lack of vacation time and distance from home to there. Love it nonetheless.
I put on headphones for the sound. What a great accumulation of work. Stunning to think of all the hours involved representing so much dedication. Many many thanks!
I knew I missed something yesterday , not sure why you didn't pop up on my feed as I am subbed and I look forward to these before I start my working week late Wednesday. Great effort as always guys
RIGHT, that’s it! I’m coming up next year, I’m starting to plan and book now, been to cairns two or three times and missed this every time. Great job and display everyone involved.
Hi Aus Armour crew, what a memorable 3 days for us, we had an absolute awesome time, rode on some tanks and even stared in this video. 😁 Another highlight was meeting Kurt and Beau and discussing welding techniques on Armour plate. Also would love to see a tour of the Chaffee tank from Jason or even better see it running for Armour fest 2024. Regards Glen Peter & Catherine.
this so on my bucket list. I have a good friend down south that wants to go with me when I come over. Gonna start looking for next year. Well done all. Oh please get the Sherman going again my number one favorite tank of all time and doesn't matter what varient.
I went to the workshop on the Monday before and was gobsmacked by the collection, at every turn I saw something that I had only previously dreamed about, the authentic displays, the panzers, the quad 50 and the battle damaged bits of armour just blew me away, oh and starting the T34 up was icing on the cake. Highly recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic effort by the Aus Armour team. Well done all and congratulations on a great armourfest. Definitely get the Sherman going, and further to that, have you folks considered using a surplus Grant, statically restored and cut away to give visitors an inside view, maybe with manikins as crew, to show how cramped the inside is during battle?
From memory of a conversation I had with one of the guys there it's proving quite difficult to get either the swing arms or torsion bars for for it. They don't want to but maybe have to manufacture the parts. Also no plans to run a Maybach but rather a more conventional diesel (Unless one appears somewhere)
@matt18333 I really wonder how many of those very rare Maybach HL 230 P45 engine and Olvar gearboxes are still laying around in the mud. It would be an extremely expensive proposition unfortunately...
Getting the Sherman going would be so cool! I know you have the awesome Firefly, but a series rebuilding a regular version would definitely get a lot of views! 👏👍
If you are looking for suggestions on new additions to the collection, space and money not withstanding, the early WWII Vickers light tanks would be interesting. As would a Centurion, given that they were the mainstay of Australian armour for a while. Just thinking out loud.
'Tons of Fun! Thanks for the excellent event. 9:15 and proof they don't shrink in the rain! Just love the look of clogs of mud being thrown by the tracks.
pretty damn stunning stuff - and the rain made it so much better, although i have to say to make things even better for both your visitors and the museum etc - it be real cool to have an area cordoned off for photo shoots, its a real bonus to be able to get shots with nothing civilian or 20th century around, perfect for any model enthusiasts drive a tank round your grounds and line up for some descent photos without all the modern clutter, fencing, mine tape, traffic cones etc, just natural foliage would be perfect - shows i used to attend had great setups, vehicles with authentic kit laying about, tents for backdrops etc, not unlike a re-enactment set, nothing worse than having images of great tanks and a marshal stood by wearing a high vis vest - what an epic event down under
Great pictures and videos, sharp. all those fascinating tank types we saw zooming or crawling by,- if only you had sub titles or commentary as to what I wish you had put type vehicle each was!
YES GET THE SHERMAN RUNNING!!!!!!!
I agree let’s see her running
Yes Please! I already wish I could visit Australia someday just to see the Ram tank, a running Sherman is always the icing on the cake.
AS long as you don't drive it through GEORGIA!🔥(Sherman did enough damage the first time. )
The the M3 Grant was the mainstay of the Australian armoured forces during WWII. Until such time as you have the 3 Barn find M3's in running order, forget about the Sherman. This world doesn't need another running Sherman, honest.
get as many as possible running
Running all those historic vehicles all day and only one broke down? That's incredible. That demonstrates the skills of your employees.
there were a few hat had some issues, on Saturday when I was mid way thru a ride in the spartan quite allot of white smoke started coming out of the engine deck, not sure what it was but it was out of action for the rest of the weekend but it was replaced buy a sabre, so not too much difference and I think the M8 greyhound also had some mechanical problems but it was back for Sunday, but its not entirely unexpected some of the vehicles are so popular they are almost running non stop so things are bound to break eventually
I wouldn’t call them employees, more like devotees.
I'm hoping to one day come to Australia from the U.S. during Armor Fest. It looks like a blast.
"Our Grounds Keeper had to be sedated" LOL
Stug IV and Jagdpanzer IV so very rare.
awesome, I think I will have to fly over next year.
Well done to all Bovingdon does well in this Saumur catching up come on America.
6.15 EXTASIS !!!!
Great show!!!👍
Get it running love your work ❤
If I ever go to Australia, I'll make an effort to visit you guy's! Promised!
Tanktastic!
Brilliant weekend
Brilliant on the bucket list!!!
That SU-152 is a monster!
We had planned this Father and Son trip for 4 years and we loved every minute.

Yes, get the Sherman running Please. It would make an Outstanding video.
I wish I was there I love old stuff running again.
Nice to meet you Kurt, I enjoyed my ride in the Panther 😎.
Thx Kurt 🔥
Wow! Great to see them out and being driven.😎👍
Excellence. Blessed is this enterprise. Cheers.
Congratulations!!!!
You need to use the little pond in the middle for the Schimmwagon and other amphibious vehicles. Looks like a lot of fun!
They should have went for a little...schwimm. :))
@@OVH_Schultz Oh where is the groan button. 😆
It’s in Cairns, there’s libel to be a crock in there 😂😂
Excellent! My daughter needed a lullaby.
My son and I had a ball !! we spent Friday and Saturday at the museum and even managed to get a ride on the Panzer 68 on the Saturday, what a fantastic show , we will definitely be back next year .
Thank you so much to all the team at Aus Armour Museum
Gees that Gepard engine is meaty. Delightful. Thanks Kurt
I definitely vote for the Sherman restoration!
Wonderful Wonderful Amazing Video. Thank You
A real treat to see a Ram Kangaroo running. Thanks.
That was amazing... You can tell the sound of a T-34 with your eyes closed. Not because of the engine, but because of the Track-Pin Knocker next to the sprocket making that unmistakable 'clacking' sound.
🏆🤗🙏🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing
What a brilliant idea for the public. Lots of smiles. I’d pay for that. Bovington take note, look at the smiles.😊
I'd love to see a special episode going into a deep dive on that M36! There are not many videos of it on TH-cam, not even Bovington or the Chieftain have done an episode on it.

Love the smiles on the old fellas faces
What a fantastic weekend it was the rides and to meet all you guys
I did t mind the rain and mud it was just fantastic 😍😍😍👍👍
I'm coming next time, would love to see a AC Sentinel running. Have only seen them moved by other means or under their own steam in old AWM black and white shows. Love to see Sentinel Tank run 3 V8 Cadillac engines by Ford
Отличное видео! У вас богатая коллекция, искренне рад за музей!
Great video :). Silly as it sounds, perhaps a video on getting the tanks cleaned up again and any maintenance needed afterwards to keep them in museum condition might be interesting - just a thought
Big job for whoever has to pressure wash them!
It’s a Sherman need I say more? Yes! Get that sherman up and running, would love to see a series on it. Thanks for giving us a virtual ride along in so many iconic tanks.
I like the panzer 2 and 3 designs. Especially 3. It has such a great look.
Would absolutely love it if you guys chose to make a Workshop Wednesday series on the Sherman! It's already my top youtube fix!
I rode the Flak Panzer Gepard - What a deep growling beast !! Wonderful to see vehicles I have read about and watched for 50 years in real life. :)
And makes you glad its in Cairns, and not in Ukraine.
I think you should get the AC1 runing that would be amazing
Yes! Make M4A1 a runner!
Thank you, Armorfest 2024 was fantastic.
Please get that cast-hull Sherman running! I would absolotely love a Workshop Wednesday on it!
Great seeing the vehicles run. It would be nice to have a voice over or graphic introducing the vehicles. Well done AUS Armor. I love this channel.
Disagree. Want to hear engines. You can find info on each tank a million places.
A small graphic with the name of the vehicle would have been perfect.
We had so much fun, thank-you all so much
Danke!
The Sherman is a must, please get it going!!!
Was waiting to see Jingles and Rita there.
And yes get that Sherman fired up !!
What an awesome experience to be able to ride on tanks !. This festival must be a Dream Fes for all Tank lovers around the world ! 😄👍
That Hezter is awesome! They all are! This event is on my bucket list.
i say you guys should absolutely bring that m4a1 up to running condition, it's a beautiful tank and the more that are running, the better!
I knew I missed something yesterday , not sure why you didn't pop up on my feed as I am subbed and I look forward to these before I start my working week late Wednesday.
Great effort as always guys
Happy to see these priceless tanks still in action, I'm glad you guys have some of the rarest ones, they are in best of hands👍
Would also love to see a series on that Sherman
@@HK94 yeah same
great to see the newly completed grant out on the track
The detroit in that apc is a beatiful sound
RIGHT, that’s it! I’m coming up next year, I’m starting to plan and book now, been to cairns two or three times and missed this every time. Great job and display everyone involved.
Get the M4 running. Thanks for what you guys do. Love from Riverside California USA
If I ever get to Australia, I'll have to go up north and visit this museum.
Have a great time, guys!

I must add you to my bucket list !
WOW! Would definitely like to see a Sherman restoration as a companion piece to the Grant restorations.
Good to see the great restorations not just sitting in a shed.
this so on my bucket list. I have a good friend down south that wants to go with me when I come over. Gonna start looking for next year. Well done all. Oh please get the Sherman going again my number one favorite tank of all time and doesn't matter what varient.
I will never be able to visit your museum in person. I am happy you make these videos so I can see it from where I am (Alaska).
Now, I have another place to go and see
I went to the workshop on the Monday before and was gobsmacked by the collection, at every turn I saw something that I had only previously dreamed about, the authentic displays, the panzers, the quad 50 and the battle damaged bits of armour just blew me away, oh and starting the T34 up was icing on the cake. SU-what at 6:26? Would’ve been good to hear what each tank was, especially with different variations of Panthers and Tigers etc.
SU-152
Fantastic effort by the Aus Armour team. Well done all and congratulations on a great armourfest. Definitely get the Sherman going, and further to that, have you folks considered using a surplus Grant, statically restored and cut away to give visitors an inside view, maybe with manikins as crew, to show how cramped the inside is during battle?
When I retire I'm moving Cairns and going to volunteer at the Armour Museum
AuArmourfest is simplyamazing. I sure wish I could attend. And here's a vote for restoring the Sherman to operating condition.
It’s a shame that the tiger tank isn’t in these events but it’s not easy to find a engine for the tiger tank let alone the parts of such a rare engine
From memory of a conversation I had with one of the guys there it's proving quite difficult to get either the swing arms or torsion bars for for it. They don't want to but maybe have to manufacture the parts. Also no plans to run a Maybach but rather a more conventional diesel (Unless one appears somewhere)

Talking with the twins - they say most parts have or were being sourced, and yes it will eventually be a runner, but not with original power plant.
Getting the Sherman going would be so cool! I know you have the awesome Firefly, but a series rebuilding a regular version would definitely get a lot of views! 👏👍
Magnifique travail Bravo a tous

I'm in Iowa u s a and glad to see what your doing to keep the memories alive for other generations. Wish I was there.
I had a great time on the Saturday. Thank you to everyone who made it the success it was.
'Tons of Fun! Thanks for the excellent event. 9:15 and proof they don't shrink in the rain! Just love the look of clogs of mud being thrown by the tracks.
More...more....more ....more ...such a hard working group of guys and thanks Kirk for all your hard work
The mind boggles at the $s tied up in armour.

That was a fantastic event. I should just move to Australia.
a huge amount of mechanical work is done. Great job!👍
What an experience! Amazing...
Greetings from Spain!
Long live Workshop Wednesday 🤓😁
On my bucket list now
It brought tears to my eyes watching these beautiful machines running.
I would love to be able to ride in a tank one day.
Best running collection , way better than static displays.
Awesome!
Fantastic parade!
Thank you for all the hard work keeping the vehicles running!
🫨🫨🫨🫨 cool. I see tanks at the local VFWs from WWII to Vietnam War. Thank you for the tour. Gonna watch it again!
